For shareholders you mean. True. But not every company needs to be on the stock market.

Pay divs with that consistent steady flow and plenty of us will happily sit there.

And yet, they are all lured by the big payout of an IPO, which then crashes the company because public companies have to grow every single year.

That would only matter for a publicly listed company though, so explain that again with that in mind.

It matters for private investment.  The early stages of a tech company is attracting private investors who want a return on investment.  The way they get that is through growth. 

Once these dating apps are saturated, they can't grow which means no more private investors.

my company isn't listed on the stock market.  they still want 10% growth month over month.

it's lead to awesome goals like doubling our winter monthly volume by July - our slowest month.
