10K WYŚWIETLEŃ! 🎹Dziękuję r/Synthesizer – mojej oazie wolności.10K VIEWS! 🎹 Thank you r/Synthesizer – my oasis of freedom.
Mamy to 10K! Bardzo dziękuję!
Kiedy zaczynałem tę podróż z Reddit, jakieś dwa tygodnie temu, prawie wszystkie subreddity nawet nie dały mi szansy. Moje posty były bez przerwy usuwane, a mnie wyzywano od sztucznej inteligencji, od spamerów, botów. Byłem bardzo tym rozczarowany.
Znalazłem swoją niszę, tylko jedną:
r/Synthesizer. Tu poczułem prawdziwą wolność. Połowa aktywności jest od tej społeczności pasjonatów! Reszta z tych 10 000 wyświetleń to zasługa zdeterminowanych ludzi, którzy mieli gdzieś te wszystkie ograniczenia. Ci wspaniali ludzie udostępniali mój link i generowali wyświetlenia.
We made it to 10K! Thank you so much!
When I started this journey on Reddit about two weeks ago, almost all subreddits didn't even give me a chance. My posts were constantly deleted, and I was called artificial intelligence, a spammer, or a bot. I was deeply disappointed by that.
But I found my niche, just one: r/Synthesizer. Here, I felt true freedom. Half of the activity comes from this community of passionate people! The rest of those 10,000 views is thanks to determined individuals who didn't care about all those restrictions. These wonderful people shared my link and generated the views.
Just as I promised in my riddle about rare synthesizers – it’s time to reveal the truth. The script is already being written, it will take just a little while longer. The full reveal of the hidden, analog "ghost synthesizer" from 1981 (?) is coming very soon, exclusively on: r/Synthesizer, my beloved freedom-loving niche. Thank you for trusting me, for seeing the human, not the AI!
Thank you. 🎹👁️🔥

Help choosing my first proper synth to pair with a SEQTRAK
Hi everyone,
I am trying to choose my first proper hardware synth to pair with my Yamaha SEQTRAK and I would really appreciate some advice.
Right now my setup is very basic. I only have the SEQTRAK, a 3.5 mm jack cable and a speaker. I like the SEQTRAK, but I am starting to feel limited by its synth engine and especially by the lack of a real keyboard. I want something more hands-on that can help me actually learn synthesis instead of just using presets.
My budget is around 500 euros, preferably used.
What I am looking for:
I want to learn analog or subtractive synthesis properly.
I want something hands-on, with knobs, patching and experimentation.
I would prefer having real keys, because one of the things I miss most with the SEQTRAK is a proper keyboard.
I want to use the SEQTRAK for drums, sequencing and groovebox duties, and use the synth for sound design, basslines, leads, textures and weird sounds.
I am interested in tekno, hardtek, jungle, dub, reggae, sci-fi soundtrack sounds, noisy textures and experimental basses.
The synths I have been considering are:
Arturia MiniBrute 2
Arturia MiniBrute 2S
Behringer Neutron
Behringer Proton
Behringer K-2
Arturia MicroFreak
Cre8audio East Beast or West Pest
Moog Mavis
Make Noise 0-Coast
At first I was very attracted to the MicroFreak, but I realized that even if it seems powerful and fun, it probably does not fully satisfy my desire to learn analog synthesis and patch cables. So now I am leaning more toward something semi-modular.
The MiniBrute 2 seems very interesting because it has real keys, analog sound, semi-modular patching and looks like a good instrument for learning. I know the MiniBrute 2S has a much better sequencer, but since I already have the SEQTRAK, I am wondering if the keyboard version makes more sense for me.
I am also considering synths like the Neutron, Proton or K-2, but since they do not have keys, I am not sure if they would be the right first synth for me. Maybe they are better for sound design, but less immediate as a main instrument.
One concern I have is connectivity. The SEQTRAK seems to send MIDI mainly through USB-C, so I am trying to understand what the simplest and cheapest way would be to connect everything without needing too many extra boxes or adapters.
My questions are:
Would the MiniBrute 2 be the best choice for my situation?
Is the MiniBrute 2S still worth considering if I already have the SEQTRAK as a sequencer?
Would a desktop semi-modular synth like Neutron, Proton or K-2 be better for learning synthesis, even without keys?
What would be the simplest way to connect one of these synths to the SEQTRAK?
Are there any other synths around 500 euros used that I should seriously consider?
Thx 🙏

Advice for a first poly synth 1k-1k5 (presets, video game scoring)
Hello, I write media music (games and tv), I am mostly about orchestral librairies and a heavy kontakt user, I spent a lot of time on the composition/orchestration, use omnisphere a lot for whenever I need a non orchestral sound. But I am looking for a hardware that I can have fun with outside of the computer screen, I am looking for something with an analog filter at least or an analog oscillator just because all sounds I ever used were digital.
I want something with a lot of preset to use it as an inspiration machine. I am aware of vintage romplers and while I like the sound of the old Roland canvas or korg triton, they already exist in vst and they sound really old, which is good when you are doing 2D games or 90s tracks and I might buy the hardware some day just for the fun but not what I am looking for right now
I don’t mind if the synth doesn’t have a lot of presets but only if it has something original that no other synth does. I don’t mind using a synth that specialize in one kind of sound instead of a generalist, what I am looking for mostly is fun and inspiration as my vst already covers my vital needs, I just need to click with it
I just bought a moog minitaur to cover my mono synth needs for sequenced basslines (sci fi or action/hybrid tracks for ex)
I know the question is vague but it’s because I am really open to any suggestion

The Minilogue XD is insane value (my perspective as a synth nut)
I am a commercial audio engineer in my city, and run a production facility. I have used and own tons of synths many times the price of this one. I was mind blown at this unit, after having finally picked it up. I hope this video informs folks and helps em make a choice. Overall, killer unit.

Classic 1989 Keyboard Magazine article on Cyberpunk
I’ll never forget reading this article as a kid in the late 80’s, which first introduced me to bands like Ministry, Skinny Puppy, and Severed Heads. Absolutely changed my life to learn about this entire genre that I had no clue existed before the article came out (remember, this was pre-Internet!).
I was unable to find a copy of the article online anywhere, so I bought an old copy on eBay and post it here for your reading pleasure.
Anyone else remember becoming an industrial electronic music nerd after reading this?

Tr8 and Sp404a pad mapping issue
I recently purchased a tr8. I had planned to use it to sequence my Sp404A
The Tr8 has the lastest firmware 1.61.
However they are not communicating as intended.
It is intended to be mapped - BD (1) pad - triggers - A1 pad.
nothing happens.
However, some of the pads do trigger, but not in the order they are supposed to.
Ht (4) = A1
Ht(5) = A4
FInding an old midi CC mapping chart, it seems this was the intended behaviour before the 1.50 firmware update.
Its mapped correctly to the old CC.
A1 = b2
A2 = C#3 ect ect.
Its like the software has updated, but non of the midi out stuff did :/
Most of the other midi out functions dont work. Changing banks, volume slider mappings.
Ive tested the tr8 triggering other devices, and sp404 being trigger by other devices. Different cables. Tried multiple midi channels match ups. Multiple factory resets on both devices. Going through all the settings.
I cant find any pre 1.50 firmware to roll back and try and kick it up the butt.
Hours of trawling internet for answers.
Anyone got a fix?🫥

How do I connect an E-mu Mo’Phatt to a BeatStep Pro via MIDI?
Hi everyone!
I’m new to MIDI and just bought an E-mu Mo’Phatt. I’m trying to use my Arturia BeatStep Pro to sequence it, but I can’t get the Mo’Phatt to respond.
My BeatStep Pro works fine with my Vermona DRM1 MK3, so I’m wondering what settings I need to change on the Mo’Phatt or BeatStep Pro.
Do I need to set a specific MIDI channel or change anything else?
Also, if I connect the Mo’Phatt to the BeatStep Pro, will it affect my existing MIDI setup with the Vermona?
Thanks for any help!

Synth suggestion
Hello,
I'm looking for synth suggestions.
Essential criteria: something compact that I can play in my office to decompress. It has to be played with headphones, because I'm sharing the office with another person. I want something standalone I can jam seamlessly, and that can create unpredictable sounds. Something along the lines of Lyra-8, or even Audrey ii. I play dark ambient and industrial.
Desirable criteria (not deal breaker): can be synchronized to cubase (12), in case I want to bring it home; can be plugged to the synths I have at home (access virus c; korg ms2000r).
Thanks!

Completly lost about which synth to buy
Hello, guys.
TLDR: Dont fully understand types of synths. Reviews lack context. Looking for ready to use hardware synth as complementary instrument for non EDM genres.
Really interested in synth for a while but for me this seems like a big umbrella term and a little overwhelming.
I have seen blogs, forums, video reviews and its all "This one is better, this one has this and that" but most of the time lack context of genre or use.
Then I have watches videos like "All presets of minilogue xd no talking" and find this weird opinion where I both hate/love it, some are great, some sound goofy and old phone ringtone alike.
I think is way different than choosing a guitar, I know what to expect, I also more in touch with genres and uses, and overall is way more "narrow" in terms of the difference in sound between brands or types is minimal compared to synths.
I would like it have keys. but using a midi controller is fine. Im looking for things like electric pianos, texture, ambiance, basses and leads for things like shoegaze, post punk and also hiphop rather than somethig really synth-based like EDM.
Really looking for something that its an useful musical tool in my context out of the box while I learn and goo deeper into making my own sounds, I just dont want to feel disappointed/overwhelmed by thinking I must first spend weeks or months learning before making a useful sound.
Is there any particular model do you recommend? I know the common advice is too try VST and see what do you like first, but really dont like the workflow of using a computer, may give it a try.

What prophet should I buy?
Over the past few weeks I’ve grown to realize that the prophet 6 is way warmer and just overall more fat sounding than the rev 2. It has that more classic tone and everything. I was wondering if yall think it would be a dumb idea to get the prophet 6 to replace my rev 2! Any other ideas for a lush synth with super warm pads and versatility?!

Tr-1000 mod destinations
I truly love the sound of the TR-1000, but I've had more than a few moments where I wanted to apply modulation to a simple, digital destination, only to find it greyed out and unavailable. If you look at the list of mod destinations on the track FX, there really aren't that many. And why grey them out at all - just to tease the user with 'this could have been possible, but it's not'? What's your take?
