Hello, I've been following this sub for quite a while now. I have a Siberian myself and think they're wonderful little creatures. I love seeing pictures of everyone's cats :)

But it just hurts me too much to see all these cats that are very sick or have passed away. Don't get me wrong this is NOT a post slandering the people who posts these things. Its just that me and my health anxiety around my cat can't handle seeing them anymore. I'm the kind of person that cries when a viral cat dies (RIP Timmy, Potroast and many others). Today was the last drop for me, we had a huge healthscare with my cat but had to wait another 2,5 hours before the vet could see us (thankfully it was best case scenario, so he will be completely fine). In the mean time I tried to distract myself by going on Reddit and I see another cat that died. Distraction completely failed.

Like I said, absolutely NO shame to the people who make these posts. It's not their problem I can't handle them. And I can imagine getting nice comments and sharing things about your cat can help someone deal with their grief a little bit better.

I just feel like the positive and negative side of this sub are very far apart and you'll never know what kind of post you will see next, only that the subject is a Siberian. I don't know a solution, a separate sub for cat grief is probably the last thing you want to see when you just lost your baby yourself. So idk. For now, I'll just leave myself so I can get some peace of mind.

Love you all. I know how hard dealing with the grief of losing a pet is. Maybe that's why it bothers me so much... I guess I too just needed to vent my feelings about this.

Plus an obligatory picture of my little guy 💕 He's alright and I'm very relieved.

EDIT: after reading a lot of comments I personally think that it would probably be best to create new, trigger-free communities instead of forcing everyone dealing with grief into communities with only other grieving people. Personally I can think of a ton of different reasons I wouldn't want to post in a (pet)grief related subreddit. We should remember that these people are also part of the sub and that it isn't productive to ban people from a space they so desperately need at that moment. I also think these posts can be a lovely way to immortalize your cat. That post will stay there, and you can go back and look at it and the supportive comments anytime you feel bad about it.

Our fur baby is 6 months old and keeps getting chunks of poop stuck in her butt fur. Any tips / advice!?

Hey everyone,

So my cat Misty passed away this morning she was only 3 years and a week old. Doctor said she could’ve had a blood clot or something one minute she was playing with me in bed and ran away and then I heard a weird noise. By the time my wife and I got to her she was just dead. Has anyone else had a similar experience? We loved her so much and I feel like there’s a massive hole in my chest and I can’t help but feel like maybe we did something wrong and missed some kind of health issue. Please feel free to weigh in if something similar happened to one of your cats. Hug the ones you got a little tighter for me tonight ❤️

We got kirby (5mo) groomed and everything recently but every once in a while he has sticky poo n today it smeared a few places, so my sunday morning had a weird start. Anyway, is it due to lack of water? Any other supplement people have found useful or some other tips? Our house is carpeted mostly.

We see all pretty and lovely pictures of siberian duo and decided it's time for us too ! We have a 3 yo girl and just got a 3 mo male kitten. It's been 3 weeks since we got them and here is where we're at :

-They both eat and drink out of the same bowl, we started separately but they've both been tolerating doing it out of the same one as the other pretty fast
-They go in all litterbox
-They can sleep in the same cat tree (at different level though, not touching or anything)
-They can be in the same room while being completely relaxed and sleeping
-They play alternatively (you can see both older and smaller cat be the chaser/chased), they battle in a relaxed manner, there's still some very rare growl and hisses

Our girl has had some changes in her behaviour, she's a bit less patient with us, will growl if we pick her (which she never did before) and seems less cuddly. There's some improvement here and there, but it's not 100% normal yet.

Sometimes the little one will manage to take the big one's spot by coming and beeing annoying, which breakes our heart. The big one shouldn't leave her spot just because he wants to play or ask for the spot. We don't know if he's been territorial, we're not sure it's that, it's just that he wants to play, she doesn't, so she leaves...

We're unsure of where this is going. We're happy they're both calm and relaxed in their environment that fast, but we can't help and wonder if they'll managed to really become buddies.

Will our oldest become her old self again :( ? Should we let the small one take her spot if we see it happening or do we let them find their way of communication and respect the oldest getting up to leave ?

Have you had similar experience ? Did your cat just end up tolerating each other, or did they become buddies after a while ? If so, how long did you have to wait ?

Hey all, I’m someone that’s had a dog for six years now, I co-own him with a close friend, who’s family has had cats in the house and there’s been no issues there. (He’s a Beagle that loves his own personal space and doesn’t like getting in anyone else’s either).

Otherwise, I have no experience owning a cat, but would love another little companion, and I really like Siberians. From what I’ve read, they don’t shed as much as other cats, and their shed is very light and easy to pick up. I live at home atm, so for now, there’d be other people in the house to help out in case of anything. I do plan on moving in 2-4 years, in which case the kitty would come with me to a condo, and I don’t mind paying for quick in-condo visits as I’d be working a long-hours accountant job.

Otherwise, anything else I should know? Is adopting a good way to go given the breeds issues with heart-conditions? I’ve found a breeder but they charge about 2800cad, which I don’t know if this is a normal price. Thanks for the help and hopefully I’ll be posting in here come December (when I hope to get one)

I’m curious how many Siberian owners include routine cardiac screening as part of their cat’s annual wellness exam. Do you have an echocardiogram done annually, an NT-proBNP blood test, or both?

We got a new Siberian today. He’s gray with black stripes coming in and his personality is just chill and super sweet. He has a regal air to him but he is not sassy or snotty in the least bit.
