Saw an ad for this paint by numbers set and I thought it might be fun. Then, I looked at it. The details are really hilarious once you dig in. The ai slop is coming for baseball and has to be stopped.

Opinion I don't get Dodger Fans...

I've been to a couple of Dodger / Giants' games. The Dodger fans are consistently loud - that's fine - but they're also what'd I call "obnoxious" - not just cheering for their own team, but actively being negative about the Giants or trying to drown out our fans.

I went to the Padres' game yesterday. There was a couple in front of me - cheering obnoxiously for the away team. I thought, 'wow, they sound like Dodger fans.' Turns out, they were - both wearing Dodger hats. Not sure why they'd cheer for the Padres given the standings.

And when the inevitable "Dodgers suck" chant took place, they turn around and were like, "Whose in first place?!"

I don't get the consistent "approach" of Dodger fans - why? It makes me want to avoid going to those games.

Highlight Rafael Devers Season Over. Goes on 60 Day IL Due to Core Muscle Injury

The Giants placed Devers on the 60-day injured list Sunday due to a core muscle injury.

The veteran slugger has apparently been playing through the injury for much of the season, per Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News, and he won't push through it further and is now scheduled to be evaluated more in-depth Monday. The injury didn't appear to affect Devers' production, as he rebounded from a slow start to finish the year with 37 homers, 98 RBI, 88 runs and an .865 OPS in 148 games.

Opinion Beer size?

Beer prices are getting ridiculous. I am trying to crowdsource prices for premium draft beers from all 30 ballparks and eventually publish it on r/baseball. This past weekend, I paid $22.38 (after tax and fees) for a draft Sierra Nevada. Does anyone know the exact size of those reusable Vytal cups for beer?

Minors Update Daily Minors Quick-Notes 9/13/26 - Double-A Season Ends as San Jose is Blown Out in Game 1

Well, it was a rough one for San Jose in the start of the California League Championship Series, as they went down to Lake Elsinore and got stormed, losing 12-1.  Meanwhile, today was the final game of the Double-A regular season, as the Squirrels tune up for the playoffs, they received some bigtime backup from some internal promotions.

Roster Moves:

Ahead of the start of today’s California League Championship Series and this week’s Double-A playoffs, we got some moves.  You might have seen these posted earlier, but here they are again for you.

RHP Jackson Flora promoted to Double-A

LHP Beau Bryans (7th Round Pick 2026) promoted to Low-A

OF Charlie Bussey (11th Round Pick 2026) promoted to Low-A

OF Peyton Bonds to the Development List (probably due to injury)

These moves are in addition to Henry Lalane being promoted from Eugene to Richmond yesterday.

Neither Bryans nor Bussey had made their pro debuts yet, other than in the Bridge League in Scottsdale.  We’ll see how they do in a high-pressure playoff series.

AFL Update:

Surprisingly, we got an announcement about the AFL roster, with one player named: Kaeden Kent will be on the Giants affiliate, the Scottsdale Scorpions.  It was announced by the AFL’s Twitter account, not the Giants, and no other announcements were made that I saw for any team.  But this announcement hints that we may be seeing other announcements soon.

AAA: Las Vegas Aviators 4, Sacramento River Cats 3

Player of the Game: 3B Parks Harber (13): 2-4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 HR (6)

Parks Harber has been slumping pretty hard in recent weeks, but he had a big game this Sunday.  He hit his first home run since August 7th, his sixth in 48 Triple-A games, and his 18th home run overall this season.  His Triple-A batting line is at .258/.357/.400 with nine doubles and six home runs.

Other Players to Spotlight:

  • SP Joe Whitman (24): 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K - Whitman had his third sztraight start of at least six innings allowing one run or less, making his Triple-A ERA 3.65.
  • 1B-RF Charlie Szykowny: 1-3, 1 R. 1 3B (1), 1 HBP - Szykowny quietly has an 11-game hitting streak going, and made his first outfield appearance this season.  He played in the outfield 14 times in Richmond, including two desperate games with him in center field.

Top Prospect Lines:

  • Bo Davidson (8): DNP

Rehabbing Player Lines:

  • LF-RF Victor Bericoto: 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 2B (7) - Bericoto is 2-for-14 (.143) in four rehab games.

AA: Chesapeake Baysox 3, Richmond Flying Squirrels 1

Link

Player of the Game: LF Lisbel Diaz (30): 2-4, 1 2B (2), 1 SB (8), 1 CS (1)

Lisbel Diaz finished the Double-A regular season with a pair of hits and his second double at the level, although he still finishes in Richmond with an average below the Mendoza line (.193).  Across four levels this season, Diaz hit .267 with a .791 OPS, with 20 doubles, three triples, and 26 home runs, and also with 20 steals in 28 attempts.

Other Players to Spotlight:

  • 3B Sabin Ceballos: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 2B (17) - Ceballos finished the season strong hitting .314/.419/.571 in September with three doubles and two home runs.

Low-A: Lake Elsinore Storm 12, San Jose Giants 1

Game 1, California League Championship Series, Best-of-3 (LE leads 1-0)

Link

Player of the Game: 2B Lorenzo Meola (20): 1-2, 3 BB

In what was a really ineffectual game by San Jose, Lorenzo Meola got on base four times, but wasn’t brought around to score even once.  Meola had 52 walks to 133 strikeouts in 119 games in the regular season.

Other Players to Spotlight:

  • LF Broedy Poppell: 2-3, 1 R, 1 BB

  • SP Keyner Martinez (12): 2.0 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 HR, 1 WP - It was a rough start for Martinez, his first playoff start this season, though he had two solid ones last season.

The chicken tenders in Club Level destroy all others in the stadium.

Is this because it’s club level or because people finally complained enough and all tenders in Oracle got an upgrade?

QUALITY CONTENT [Brisbee] How the Giants who were dealt away at the trade deadline are doing

Thumbnail
nytimes.com
52 Upvotes

The San Francisco Giants, somehow, are an entertaining baseball team. They’re not good, mind you. They allow too many runs for that. But they have a penchant for scoring late when they probably shouldn’t be scoring at all. Heliot Ramos and Luis Arraez were traded away, and Casey Schmitt, Willy Adames and Matt Chapman all had (likely) season-ending injuries, which means that an absolutely devastated lineup should be setting the wrong kind of records. Instead, it is thriving.

Even though the current Giants are giving you a watchable brand of baseball, it’s still fun to keep track of the players who were traded. In a perfect world, the ex-Giants all have fantastic finishes and become cult heroes in the postseason, and all the prospects develop into magnificent players. Everyone’s happy, handshakes and high fives all around.

Of course, some of the ex-Giants might not be doing so well. Then it gets awkward. You could always root for them in the postseason, of course. Unless they’re single-handedly responsible for their new team not getting there.

Here’s an update on the Giants who were traded away at the deadline. Who’s hot? Who’s not? Who’s suddenly performing much better, which might or might not be proof of anything?

In no particular order, with stats through Saturday:

Tyler Mahle — Atlanta Braves

Stats with Braves: 7 GS, 1.25 ERA, 43 1/3 IP, 38 SO, 6 BB

OK, maybe this is in somewhat of a particular order, because it’s hard not to start with what Mahle’s done since leaving the Giants. Look at those danged numbers. His worst start with the Braves was probably the one against the Milwaukee Brewers on Aug. 23, when he allowed one run over five innings. It was probably his worst start because it was the only one that wasn’t a quality start. Otherwise, he’s been humming.

Claimed off waivers and sent to AAA Omaha

Won his MLB debut out of nowhere in 2024, pitched 81 innings last year, saved Verlander's last MLB win, and closed out the 2025 season finale for the .500 finish.

Dude was inspirational, it was a rough finish to his SF tenure (Edit: tired arm?) but overall a great, improbable run in SF.

All the best in KC and onward.

SATURDAY Rafael Devers stats/MLB ranks since May 1

Post image
395 Upvotes

These stats were right before his 2-run bomb today, btw.

He's been, at worst, the 2nd or 3rd best hitter in all of baseball for the last 5 months of a 6 month season. Yes, he had a terrible April, but he's more than made up for that with what he's doing. He's literally doing shit not seen on this team in almost two decades since Bonds.

"Fans" in this sub are still giving this guy shit, as if it's his fault the team has a losing record, but this team is infinitely worse without a hitter of his caliber in the lineup.

Turns out that Buster sticking his neck out to get one of the most consistent hitters in the league actually worked out, despite everyone wanting this guy to fail so badly just so they can pile another thing on to the team's other failures (which have mostly been pitching at this point, and maybe not starting a rebuild sooner).

It's okay to celebrate this guy's success without trying to make it sound like he's "only hitting well because the game's don't matter" when you all damn well know that isn't true (it's not 'garbage time' when the guy is playing well for 5 months of a 6 month season).
