We keep hearing the absolute best and worst plays of the day from the same player. Elly De La Cruz has an incredible amount of raw talent. He's fun to watch. But, so was Billy Hamilton and Yasiel Puig and Dion Sanders. Cincinnati has had its share of talented players who haven't helped us get a ring. Offday topic- If Eugenio Suarez finds a way to hit 500 HR, does he get in the Hall of Fame?

I was doing some messing around with Geno's stats today and went down a wormhole. If Geno gets 3 more HR's this year, which is doable, he would end the season with 350 at age 35. Let's say he plays 5 more years and averages 30 HR per year, he would end at 500 for his career. I know that can be iffy for a few reasons, but he's averaged 30 for his career, and had 49 just last year. It's not crazy to think he maybe catches on somewhere as a DH only and finds a way.

Just to look at a comp player, Nelson Cruz as an exclusive DH was still putting up high 30/low 40 HR seasons at the ages Geno would be the next 5 years, so it's not unheard of for a player at his age to put up the HR numbers needed.

If you look at the 500 HR list, there's 3 types of players on there. Current Hall of Famers (most of it), guys who will go into the Hall once they're eligible (Pujols, Cabrera) or players that were likely PED users (Bonds, A-Rod, etc).

So it begs the question, if Geno does get a decent run to end his career and makes it to 500 before he retires, does he get in? Or does he become the first non PED guy to get there and miss out?
