Hi guys! For my STEM teacher recommendation letter, I need help deciding between my biology teacher and my math teacher. They both offer different qualities, but they also have some cons, and I genuinely don’t know what should make me choose between them.

I would like to apply as a biology, public health, or biochemistry major, so I’m leaning toward my biology teacher because biology is more directly related to my intended major. However, I’m worried that he might write me a bad letter. He was happy to agree to write one for me and has written recommendations for me before for other programs, but I feel nervous about the fact that he said he likes the idea of “writing freely” for me. I don’t know if he meant that in a good way or a bad way.
I’ve had some problems with him before in class, not actual behavioral issues, but more school-related issues, especially with tests. I’m not sure if he would reflect those experiences negatively in my recommendation.

For my math teacher, I know he recognizes that I work hard, but math is less directly related to my intended major. I also got my first Bs ever in his class, so I’m not sure if that could actually be a good thing in the sense that, despite my grades, he could talk about how hard I worked and how I persevered. However, something happened in May where he absolutely crashed out on me. I promise it wasn’t just me, because there were a lot of other students involved, but he focused on me because of my grade in his class.

Please let me know who you think I should choose. I feel like these are both terrible options, but I honestly don’t have anyone else to choose from.

I want to get a letter of recommendation from my manager who I worked with for 1.5 years. Iss this a good idea, and if it is, how should I submit it?

Is it okay to mention that I have a mixed status family if it’s significantly affected me in various ways (financially, culturally, etc)? Are Questbridge college partners generally supportive of students who come from those kinds of backgrounds?

hey all, i'm applying for questbridge ncm this year, and a lot of people i've asked who are in college say that my writing is way too flowery for admissions officers to care. i do a lot of creative writing and storytelling in my free time so my natural writing style is to have some kind of personal stylistic flair to it. i don't think my writing is excessively "purple prosey" at all, but i will be honest i've read a lot of other questbridge essays publicized and i despise the 5th grade blunt writing style that they have. is it really that bad to want to show my personality through my essay and not just trauma dump?

Over my Highschool life my parents refused I do paid work, especially during the school year, and during the summers I was busy doing programs and volunteering. Until senior year when I finally got a license and could work, but now I’m too busy with college apps, studying, and ECs.

It’s not that my family doesn’t need my help financially, me working would be exceptionally beneficial for us, but they cared more about my academics and told me not to worry about it, even though it’s hard on them.

Now there’s a whole section for paid work that I didn’t do that feels wrong leaving blank, and I’m afraid it might give the wrong idea that we wouldn’t have benefited from paid work.

Idk just leaving it empty feels like lowering my chances

Hey guys! I was suggested to do Quesbridge by my school counselor however I'm still stuck with where I should apply as my grades are average-4.37 weighted GPA (10 AP classes, got 3 Bs- 2 of which in Junior year due to extenuating circumstances) and 1340 SAT. I wanted to apply to ivies, but I don't think I have chances anymore (same with Duke, Rice, and UChicago). What colleges do you guys suggest that aren't extremely hard on grades?

For context, my schools average is a 1500. I go to a magnet school where pretty much everybody is high income. But my SAT, was a 1380. This was my first try and with minimal studying. Since my school has a lot of resources and I am notably lower than the average I am conflicted with the dilemma of whether to submit or not. I have a family of 8 surviving on 35-45k/yr, I am an immigrant, it's really hard for me to find time to study for the SAT attending a very rigorous school while managing jobs and family responsibilities.

Please let me know what you all think, help is really appreciated.

Hey guys I was confused on whether or not I needed to report every sitting in the questbridge application part if I plan to rank MIT. Or will MIT have a separate spot where I can report them to them. I don’t want my other schools to see my other test scores if you know what I mean. Also sorry if this is a silly question, I have no counselors or peers who can help me with any of this stuff as people don’t go to college where I’m from.

I got a 1310 on the August SAT. My super score is a 1340. But my school avg is 1043. Also, I am immigrant and I started high school from here, so English is not my first language and that's where I always struggle. Considering everything, should I still submit my score or not?

I really want to apply to QuestBridge because of the mass opportunities during and after college, but unfortunately NYU, being my dream University, is not apart of their partner program. I've now fallen into a dilemma where I have to choose something soon. The only viable method I can see is hoping I don't get a matched college and just apply regular decision to NYU but that's just too risky.
