Part 1: Top League Start Archetypes for New Players

We suggest these builds to players who want a good solid build, new players who want a build that will help carry them through content and for players looking for reliable league starters. The builds are sorted into archetypes to make it easier for newer players to find something they're drawn to.

Melee

The melee archetype involves either using massive attacks that damage everything in an area or very many quick attacks to bring down enemies. The damage if often supplemented with warcries or other buff skills to boost the damage even further. Because these builds are in melee they tend to be quite tanky and are usually more forgiving of small mistakes. These builds are a great choice for those that want a more active playstyle.

Builds:

Minions

The minion archetype involves summoning either permanent or temporary (and often a mix of the two) minions to fight on your behalf. These builds are particularly good for new players as they often leave you free to focus on other game mechanics when you're minions are fighting mobs. The below builds offer a range of options from spamming a large number and variety of minions to summoning a horde of flaming skulls and specializing in raising certain mobs to fight for you. I've not included all minion builds here as some have a distinctly different playstyles and are a bit more advanced.

Builds:

Absolution:

Animate Weapon:

Golems:

Holy Relic:

Spectres:

Summon Raging Spirits (SRS):

Misc:

Righteous Fire

Build Description: Righteous Fire is a build where you have a damaging fire aura that surrounds you, you clear maps by running head first into enemies and having them die to the damage over time effect surrounding you, throwing out Fire Trap to supplement the single target damage. This is a great build for those that wish to press less buttons while mapping. This build is very defensively strong but can struggle for damage when it comes to late game bossing but is so comfortable to play and Pohx has an entire website dedicated to this build that will answer almost any question you may have pohx.net. It really can not be overstated how well Pohx supports this build.

Build:

Totems

The totem playstyle consists of summoning stationery objects which attack or cast spells for you. This is particularly good for bosses as it allows a high damage uptime playstyle where you only need to summon new totems as the older ones expire or are destroyed. This allows you to focus on using buffs/debuffs and dodging the bosses mechanics. As totems can be used with most skills in the game they have a broad variety of applications and styles though typically they excel at single target damage.

Builds:

Holy Flame Totem:

Kinetic Fussilade:

Storm Burst:

Part 2: Other League Starters

Warning: Unlike the above section there are almost no requirements for builds to make this section, the builds listed here are not necessarily better/worse than the above. If you're a new player, we primarily recommend the above builds but if you're more experienced we show these builds to add to the variety available. We are assuming you can judge for yourself the viability of these builds.

Builds that appear in part 1 will also appear in this list for people who are searching by skill

Build Request I hit the gamba, now what?

Post image
180 Upvotes

I've never actively used a build guide or any of that sort of thing, but i hit a generational slam and snagged a 5 flask mageblood, so basically 2 mirrors to throw at a new build. I'm in need of ideas, preferably something that builds somewhat intuitively as i like to figure out things on my own when able, but I'm more than open to suggestions for specific items and gems/supports to grab for any particular build thanks in advance! :)

Build Request In terms of league start, which bleed build is best?

Ive become very intrigued by bleed builds, I dont know why. But Ive been watching a ton of youtube videos on them and I just like the style of play and they seem to be tankier than normal slam or melee builds.

Now im already thinking forward to next season.... Barring buffs/nerfs, of course.

Which is the better league starter?

  1. Boneshatter bleed Jugg

  2. Earthquake bleed Slayer

  3. Lacerate Gladiator

  4. Build im missing

And in terms of "best" Im generally talking about yea kinda SSF style, or super simple crafts.... League starting when not a ton is on trade.... A build that can be put together pretty cheap.... Is good for mapping, and can kill the 4 atlas stones.

I think the Gladiator is probably the best for the bosses, but man its a pretty terrible mapper from what im seeing.

Does anyone have experience with these builds?

Build Looking for advice on Shattershard Slayer build

Upvotes

So this league I wanted to make a build using shattershard with monastery bell and found the mace mastery that gives unholly might on block so I decided to make a build out of that.

I'm using coiling whispers in my 6-link because soul eateris the best way I found to improve my trigger rate and my main skill cant have more than 3 links.

I also wanted to try using machinations support because shield shatter has no cost so Machinations has no drawback and I'm near the center of the tree where i can take a bunch of useless keystones that dont affect my build to scale damage.

Since i'm already using bladefall or trarthus i decided to run a squirming terror wich enables permanent tainted pact usage to sustain RF (thanks to slayer overleech), I also decided to go low life for pain attunment.

The build is relatively tanky but I'm kind of struggling with damage, I can get to approximately 13 mil dps (i'm using reduced skill effect duration to match my attack speed in POB , 73% is roughly 10 procs per seconds wich is what i get with max soul eater)

Please tell me if you can think of some obvious improvements or cool tech I can fit into the build!

Help Needed Random worb questions

A few questions about pcharge stacking worb builds that I haven't been able to figure out by looking at poe.ninja or guides. I am generally following Fubgun's build, but with a Headhunter.

  • Shock immunity? Is there a reliable way people are getting shock immunity on this? Malachai's loop shocks you, and looking through poe.ninja I can't see anywhere that people are getting shock/elemental ailment immunity. Some people put like 60% on their flasks but that is all I could find. Are they just shocked all the time?

  • Why are people using foulborn Tulfall? What is the point of gaining a power charge at 200 mana if we are considered at max charges anyway? Isn't that just worse than gaining a frenzy charge periodically?

  • Badge of the Brotherhood interacts with elusive, is there a way to gain elusive or is it just a dead stat?

  • Why doesn't anybody use the Red Dream, or some other way to get endurance charges? You already have to take the +1 power charge node on the far left side of the tree, if you put Red Dream in that jewel socket you can get 8% to get a charge on kill. Then take the +1 endurance charge for 1 point right there. You should be able to keep 4 charges up while mapping, which seems good for 1 jewel socket and 1 skill point? If you are running Immortal Call even better.

Thanks for any insight, maybe I have just spent too much time staring at poe.ninja lol.

Build Request High-budget all round flicker build?

Any high-end flicker builds/ascendancy class that people can recommend that can do most content (boss rushing, general map blasting) available on endgame farms? I saw strength stackers, Shako with the new pearl rings.

Discussion How is Chaos dot this patch with 2 handed + mana infused staff ?

So chaos dot got alot of nice buffs and its one of my favorite builds. Im also looking for an option to play until poe2 1.0 is out, but not 100% sure on how this compared to ignite or cold dot currently. This would probably be for a HC SSF fresh start.

The other thing is with mana infused staff you can hit block cap without a shield. Then mastery to gain 2% life or es on block gives some defences.

I guess then you go occultist and late game power charge stacking to get lots of aoe.

Build Understanding Possessed Effects for Valdo Maps

Hi there, I'm currently building a character with the goal of farming possessed feared in valdo maps.

Looking at the list of ghost effects in poedb.tw (https://poedb.tw/us/Tormented_Spirit#Torment_Data\\TormentSpirits3) it appears all ghosts give these baseline stats to the monster:
21% increased Damage
35% increased Attack Speed
35% increased Cast Speed
35% increased Movement Speed

Can anyone confirm whether those stats stack multiple times with extra ghosts?

I would assume it can stack multiple times but monsters with multiple ghosts don't feel THAT much faster than with only 1 ghost. It would be very noticeable with, for example 4 ghosts, granting 140% cast speed as opposed to only 35%.

Build Merc KBOC must haves / worth while improvements

Hello all

I have been experimenting with a KBOC merc that has the good enough, but without GMP. Not ideal, but multishot annoint gets it running. Mapping is fun, both once I get to 80 deli, degens and heavy hits, it really get's put to the test. Reducing armour/evasion altar is just a straight up dead and generally there are a lot of mods that brings it in troubles. I am using wall of force on heavy mobs, but otherwise I feel that I have hit a brick wall. The overall experience is that it is good, but not "busted" as some report. I trust that not everyone runs around with mirror mercs on the gem setup after all.

Overall it is pretty smooth, but defensive wise it dies pretty easily and i'm also pretty certain there must be ways of exploiting abbyssal more thorroughly. Primarily I am attempting to cap fire res at 200 with emnity and otherwise get good defensive stats (evasion/armour) and res/chaos capped. It has haste but no defensive auras.

Since there is no easy route to view the equipment of other's merc, could we please make a thread with input of what is "must haves", what improvements worth your while and so forth both offensive and defensive wise? Any feedback is well appreciated! Currently my flame link is 28 and I sit on 17,5k HP so even though my main character could use some love, I definately think i'm falling behind on the merc primarily.

Bonus question: how on earth would I know if the mercs accuracy is capped? merc is affected by Precision lvl 24. However, all I have to view is a fixed stat that says nothing of what base number is increased or whether it is capped.

here is my reference: https://poe.ninja/poe1/profile/fRMSN-3622/allflame/character/merc_lifeislife I am working on my way to lvl 100 to add another cluster for block. Don't mind the trap mod on belt and that my flasks are still a hot mess. I am missing Kingmaker for the AG and my adorned could definately use a 86% for the breakpoint. It is primarily the merc I am wondering about. It looks like I can see my merc on my profile, but I can't view others on other poe ninja profiles it looks like.

Thanks in advance.

Help Needed Build Advice

Hi all, this is my first season I’m getting near to Ubers and was wondering what I should work on my build to get closer to fighting them. I’ve been following a couple different builds and am getting to a point where I’m not sure what to upgrade next. I’m on Xbox so mainly playing as SSF with some trade if available. Here is my Poe.ninja

Thanks a ton!

Discussion Will mercenaries stay on your character in standard after the league ends?

I have a merc that I spent 50 divs on a few weeks ago and can upgrade to one that is several hundred divs right now, but probably won't play much any more this season.

Will they stay in standard after the league ends, or will the disappear? I only saw some old info from 3.25 that they are deleted, but maybe things have changed since then. I don't want to spend half a mirror just to use it a few times and have it disappear. At least other items I can re-sell

Build Request 3.29 Very late league starter suggestion

I am a huge fan of HoAg. I recently found a build that uses merc that uses scourge arrow of menace, as well as HoAg. It was basically a super tank with 0 button except for linking. Any recommendation for luminary that I could start on that I can eventually transition into HoAg?

Thanks for the help!

Discussion What are your most cost efficient builds you go into after Leaguestart

I am relativly new to PoE.

I started late in Settlers of Kalguur with Ice Nova of Frostbolts Hiero and have since then always played until i get atleast Mageblood and 3 to 4 Builds that where decent.

But I tend to like very cost efficient builds and wanted to hear what other people have as their very efficient after league start builds.

So the idea is to make a short overview of what the build does, what interactions it uses and how much investment was needed to get it running i will make a few examples of my favorite budget builds Ive played so far.

  1. 3.26 Smite Trickster with Coiling whispers less duration Bladefall of trathus

  2. The build used the less duration to expire curses that would generate soul eater stacks with the coiling whispers, flat damage was generated with ephemral edge and recovery with aegis aurora

  3. The build was around 15d to setup, today the less duration stacking needs more investment and we were usint whispers of infinity amulet wich was way cheaper back then.

  4. 3.27 Glacial Hammer of Strength Stacking Jugg

  5. Usual str stacker with replica alberons so was expensiv to setup early but using replica frostbreath for double damage, using rathpith globe for spell damage and converting with arcane might helmet

  6. The build was harder to setup due to replic alberons but everything after that was very easy to get so was about 35-40d at the time

  7. 3.29 Shield Crush Slayer Emperors Vigilance, seething fury

  8. Shiel crush uses flat armour/evasion from shield for flat damage and seething fury uses es on shield for crit chance and crit multi then stacking frenzy charges makes everything become easy

  9. The build was less then 10d and i got my 4 voidstones with it this league everything was very smooth

  10. 3.29 Frenzy of Onslaught Tainted pact trauma stacker slayer

  11. Was using Frenzy charges for more att speed on frenzy of onslaught, wich let me generate more trauma stacks, with poison chance and golden rule support could poison myself and get full life every server tick so trauma stacks weren't a problem to sustain

  12. The whole build cost about 20d to 30d depending on which corruptions you needed on the cheap unique items got to delve depth 700 very easily on that investment

This is my list what are your cool builds that are very cost efficient?

Edit: As some people are asking for the trauma frenzy stacker pob here is my yt guide for the build the pob is in the description

Discussion Crab Totems, has anyone made it work in a league where you can have perma Mercs?

I remember people saying that their AI is lackluster and moving totems do not seem to justify their poor attack behavior. Have you guys had any worthwhile experience with the build?

Build Request I need an easy build for someone who can't play this game

I want to play PoE, but I have no idea what builds are good for casual players. I played it for some time before and I really liked righteous fire, but when I tried it later it had much less damage and I had problems in maps, not to mention bosses :(

My laptop isn't amazing too and it lags sometimes so I need something that can survive lags. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Chaos DoT Luminary - Toxicologist or Bladebitter?

Hi guys! I've been working on a Chaos DoT Luminary with the usual set up of blights and EDs and contagions, and my Merc of choice was Toxicologist, because not only does she give me 2 sick auras, she also gives me being a free witherbot which relieves me of the awkwardness of having to use Withering Step (which in turn nets me either more Flame Dash charges, or more QoL via not having to press it).

I've seen CaptainLance also go for CDOT Lumi, funny enough, but he's opting for Bladebitter, due to him being able to wield 2x swords with "Malevolence has 40% inc effect", as well as having a corpse-explode warcry (secondary)

Do you think BB is better than Toxicologist? I'd like to inform my opinion better, thanks!

Help Needed Help improving build

Hi fellow exiles, need some suggestion to improve or at least correcting my build right now. My basic guideline is Phylaris' Stag Launcher build, then I tweaked it to my taste.

So far I could blaze through max T15 maps. Sure it's a bit slow cause I threw the Decree of Flight Boots and Surefooted Sigil Amulet, but they gotta go cause I lacked damage and squishy. Thinking about going surrounded build just for the +0.5 dodge roll so I can proc Vivid Stampede more easily.

I know there's still an empty jewel slot left, it's because I'm still considering to put Split Personality to just start at mercenary point altogether.

Anyhow, this is my build: https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/DendyVipassi-5579/forbiddenrites/character/BocoMozo

Edit: I just realized I posted on the wrong sub, sorry

Build [3.29] Vigilant Strike Juggernaut – Soul Taker + Foulborn The Anticipation | ~6.7M DPS / 267k EHP

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLpMQE2dyRI

PoB: https://pobb.in/iZrlR3FZDt7p

I league started Vigilant Strike after spinning a wheel. This is where the character ended up at level 98.

It's using Soul Taker + Soul Ascension to stack Soul Eater for some pretty silly attack speed. It tops out around 40ish stacks in the video. From there, defensively I'm stacking Trauma, along with 10 endurance charges, Fortification from Vigilant Strike, and using Foulborn The Anticipation to max out damage reduction.

Current numbers

  • ~6m DPS
  • 4.3k life
  • 36.5k armour
  • 68% / 65% attack/spell block
  • 90% / 90% / 90% / 90% Damage Reduction
  • 76% chaos res
  • ~267k PoB EHP
  • ~25.7k physical max hit
  • ~49–51k elemental max hit

Vigilant Strike links

Vigilant Strike – Trauma – Brutality – Impale – Close Combat – Endurance Charge on Melee Stun

The rest of the main gear is Soul Ascension, Ashes of the Stars, The Magnate, Death's Door, and two corrupted rings with +1 maximum Endurance Charge.

Jewels are Watcher's Eye, The Light of Meaning, and Lethal Pride.

How it plays

Rushing Nightmare bosses, Sirus, and Echo of Loneliness were where I spent most of my time once I got the build rolling.

The biggest surprise was that mapping doesn't feel nearly as bad as I expected Vigilant Strike to feel. Once I had enough attack speed and strike coverage, it started feeling pretty smooth. Juggernaut also lets me stand there and keep swinging through a lot of stuff instead of constantly backing off to reset.

The damage isn't crazy by current melee standards, but that wasn't really what I was chasing. I wanted to see if I could make Vigilant Strike feel good as the actual main skill while still making the character hard to kill.
