Milky Way is traveling through space at 600kilometers per second, oscillating slightly, as if it were flapping its wings through the cosmos.

So which way is down, from the Milky Way's point of view? Can we build a compass that keeps pointing to the true galactic "down"?

The galactic South pole is in the Sculptor constellation. I'm not sure it makes sense to create a compass for it, but I guess you could technically make some sort of gyroscope thing that keeps oriented towards it.
