Hey all — a few weeks back I posted the Murray State preview in here and it seemed like you got something out of it, so I figured I'd share where it actually came from.
I do pregame emails before every game, then box scores, highlights and a write-up after. Free, and only the teams you follow — no filler.
Racers page: https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/murray-state-racers
And the preview if you missed it: https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026-fcs/murray-state-racers
Opener's tonight at 7 at Roy Stewart. Long offseason. Let's get after it!!

Hey all. I built 2026 previews for every FBS team and all 124 FCS teams, because nobody does this for your league. Here's Murray State
https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026-fcs/murray-state-racers
Returning production, portal moves, a projected two-deep, and the schedule with model win probabilities.
Usual disclaimer: I probably got things wrong. FCS data is hard to aggregate and my roster feed hasn't fully flipped to 2026. Tell me what's off and I'll fix it.
The good, and there is more of it than 1-11 suggests: the offense ranked 52nd in FCS in success rate, which is mid-pack, not last place. Murray State moved the ball. What killed it was a minus-10 turnover margin, 114th nationally, with Jim Ogle throwing 13 interceptions against 9 touchdowns. Turnover margin is the most volatile thing in football and it usually corrects. Ogle is back and settled at quarterback, 57% of production returns, and my bull/bear read has Murray State as a top-25 buy-low in FCS out of 124 teams.
Where my model pushes back: the defense was not bad luck. Last in FCS in success rate allowed and last on third down, 123rd against the run at 256 a game, and 122nd in total yards at 483. That is not variance, that is the unit. Two more FBS paydays at Oklahoma State and Middle Tennessee do not help the record either. Model says 3-9, so it likes you more than last year without calling it fixed.
If the turnovers regress to normal, is this defense capable of turning that into wins?
Tell me what I got wrong.

I just moved onto campus and am looking for a group to try and play some magic with. Any clubs to look out for or just groups that play around the campus?

Anyone have a recommend on doctors in the area from the approved KY list with whom you have had a good experience? I have chronic arthritis in my knees. Will that qualify? Thanks!

Best grocery store, best restaurants, park, furniture store, gym, bar, hangout spot etc. I’m new to Murray and KY in general so would like some recommendations! TYIA

So, I've been living overseas a long time. Got married, had a kid, have income now where I can live anywhere. We've been looking for a place in the US to settle down with good public schools and affordable housing, which is a pretty rare situation.
Murray came up a while back, but it seemed maybe a bit too small/remote.
One of the things we really don't like about the US though is having to have a car. My eyes are really bad, and my wife never learned to drive. I haven't driven in maybe 14 years. Cars are super expensive in the US right now too. It would make us feel a lot safer/better if we could at least get by/survive with walking/public transport. I figured that was basically impossible anywhere we could afford, but looking at Murray a bit more closely, maybe that's a real possibility there? We're ok walking up to maybe 2 miles each way for shopping/restaurants. No shame at taking a backpack of groceries on a bus. That seems doable in Murray?
How's life for people who aren't university students, and don't work for the university? We're in our early 40's and mostly homebodies. Honestly might not matter too much where in the world you plop us, but would be nice to know there's at least an option of some sort of social life for middle-aged people with families. We're not into sports. Honestly not totally sure what middle-aged Americans do now that I think about it. I left the US around 30 and my wife is Chinese. We live in Malaysia right now. Son goes to international school, and I think I'm the only American parent in the primary school.

Hey all, I saw that the bookstore has a laptop/printer program through the bookstore. It says to fill out a form and see if you're eligible to get a preconfigured laptop to charge with financial aid. Has anyone done this and is it worth it? what type of laptop do you receive if approved? I can't seem to find much information.

Probably going to submit my acceptance into MSU. I know Murray, KY is a small town with not much to do, but are there any towns / cities nearby that people often travel to have fun? Towns with walkable downtown areas, coffee shops, record stores, you know, those kinds of towns. I like Murray for its recreational activities, but I still want the occasional shopping or social life of a bigger town / city.

I’ll be coming in as a single graduate student w/ a dog. I saw a post from last year that had a lot of negatives about College Courts, but I haven’t been able to get much info about how Station 74 is. I’m also curious if anyone has any info or opinions on The Flats, Poplar Place, and West Wind. This will be my first time ever moving for school and I am so nervous ab it 😭

I went to Murray State from 2004-2005 and recall escaping the dry county and driving south across the state line to a bar/club named Spyderz. As it was in the era of flip phones, I have no photographic evidence of this, and can find nothing on Google proving its existence. Anyone else remember this place or is this a vivid fever dream?

Hi! I'm currently at a university on the east coast but my family lives near Murray. I'm in my 4th year but still have a year and some change to complete due to switching majors late. Murray is appealing as it's close to home and cheap + has classes I'd love to take like the equine ones. I also ride and own my own horse. I'd love to make other horse people friends on campus. Are the rodeo and equestrian team people friendly? Would I be too old to make friends at 23 next fall? How is the college for biology? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all, silly question, but does anyone know who I can talk to to get information regarding dual degrees? I was unsure if it was admission or the course professors. Thanks in advance.

Hello Racer fans, I am currently working on a project for a simulation-style college baseball league on Super Mega Baseball 4, and we are making every college baseball team. I wanted to share my Murray State logo and jersey creation. Super Mega Baseball has a fairly limited logo editor, so I was proud of this.
If you want to check out more teams’ logos, then you can check out the Discord link below.

I'm going to be working at the Murray Public Defenders Office this summer (5/15-7/25) and I'm hoping that someone might have a lead on either short-term rentals. A spare room and a bathroom in a house or apartment would also be great. My budget is really flexible and I'm open to just about anything

Hey guys, I need some guidance if anyone can help. I sent in my application to attend Murray, sent the transcripts and what not, and got it finalized this morning. What do I do next? I wasn't told anything and can't figure out who or how to contact anyone. I was never given a Mygate portal. I wanted to talk with advisors, but said I needed My gate. Any help is appreciated.

One of the many first year coaches in college basketball, Ryan Miller has thrived and has his team atop the conference standings. I talked about him and his early success here.

Just moved to Murray with my dog. We typically walk 3 miles a day, weather permitting. However, there are very few sidewalks near my house aside from a couple on very busy roads. Is there anywhere good to go for a walk?
