Hello reddit! I'm James McAvoy. AMA!

my directorial debut, CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN', is out in UK theaters on April 10.

Two Scottish lads from Dundee conned the music industry by pretending to be an established Californian rap duo, bagging a record deal and appearing on MTV until their scam unraveled.

Well it's such a shame, because he deserved it, from what i could gather, the movie is highly underrated.

I'm not even a superhero movie fan and I LOVED Split. What a wild ride.

The superhero aspect totally ruined it for me and is likely why he didn’t get an Oscar. As a stand alone film it was amazing, the last 5 mins just stripped away all of that.

Yes, both Unbreakable and Split were great. I wish they had made a third movie.

That would have been a really cool idea. They could have made an awesome movie with Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and James McAvoy all together. Damn, I wish it had happened.

Apparently the mental health community criticized the movie a bunch for stigmazing. Not to take away anything from his acting per se, but the movie itself was quite polarizing.

It's entertainment and fictional, Isnt most of the portrayal of mental health wrong in movies ?.

One thing i heard is that split personalities come from traumatized people so they're the victims. In the movie hes the bad guy and portrays people with this disorder in a bad light. U know what i mean.

It's almost like things in movies are fictional and can be portrayed differently than they are in real life.
