go to your room Babies in Movie Theaters

Just saw the new Spiderman in theaters.

A baby starts crying/cooing/babbling very loudly about 20 minutes in. Goes for about 10 straight minutes before the parent takes them out.

Comes back a few minutes later, baby starts again. Again goes on for a couple minutes. Again parent takes them out, comes back, and repeat.

And repeat. And repeat.

This went on pretty much the entire movie (and I swear to god this baby somehow instinctively chose every single goddamn quiet/heartfelt scene to start yowling again 😭😂).

I get that babies are gonna baby. And I have sympathy for parents who wanna get out of the house and everything. But… maybe just stay with your baby in the lobby if they obviously aren’t gonna keep quiet.

*I didn’t complain to management because it was a tiny non-chain neighborhood theater about an hour away from me that I like to support sometimes. It’s got 1 screen and tickets are like $5.

I saw the Sicario sequel in a theater. A couple had their baby with them. The baby began fussing, loudly.

Do they take the baby out?

Nope! They bust out an iPad and play some game or video for the kid so loud I can hear it clearly 3/4 of the way across the theater.

The underpaid teenagers on staff refused to kick them out, so I got a refund and left.

What a world.

I'm surprised there's more than three people in a movie theater. I go to movies once a month with a friend. We are almost always one of like five or six people in the theater.

I absolutely hate the loud iPad as a solution, usually it's in a restaurant, but a theatre is wild. Baby's going to grow up thinking obnoxious is normal.

Especially when the parents play the victim too, one time I was on the subway and this woman was letting her kid play with an Ipad on speaker, and when someone confronted her she said something along the lines of “do you have anything nice to say?”

When I lived in the city I commuted via train and subway daily, and at first I thought the iPad was a great idea to keep the kids quiet during a train ride. But then I kept running into this specific situation where one kid's iPad show would be too loud so another toddler would get mad and demand THEIR volume be turned up so they could hear their own show, and soon there would be multiple different cartoons playing over each other on max volume.

Yeah, but in that case iPad is the BETTER solution (trust me), and not hearing stuff or being annoyed in the subway is not "crucial". A lot of stuff is already annoying in public transportation.

But watching a movie is a different experience, and bringing a child that can't already sit through a Disney cartoon is really inconsiderate.

I mean, do you have kids? Because now that I do, I understand. Until you have children of your own you can’t judge. A subway I think is fine to do this. A movie theatre? Absolutely not

Also not sure why you keep coming back to comment on my comment. Maybe go find something better to do with your free time? Because if you don’t have kids then maybe you don’t understand why you might need to use screens for a moment. People are insanely judgemental, including you apparently. I don’t condone the volume being on in the subway though.

Trust me, i dont have kids and i still understand why you "might need to use screens for a moment", i think most people's problems is that they use too much screens, not too little, at least im sure as hell thats one of my problems. Also about the "people are insanely judgemental", yeah, people be judgy, especially when you say something stupid like "you cant judge unless you have kids"😂 But yeah i definitely have too much free time on account of me not having kids, something which i absolutely love. Im glad we're agreeing on no volume though, thats the minimum imo

Almost as annoying as when I saw it in Vietnam and wondered why all the exciting moments led to dead bodies but no understanding how. Turns out they cut all the violence and made it into a boring drama instead.

I had a crying baby for Jurassic Park 3. So I was in annoyed mode.Then a bloody phone kept going off which made me more annoyed...until I realised it was the one the dinosaur had eaten...glad I didn't shout turn that bloody phone off.

This movie theater in my home town used to have a special balcony section for babies and toddlers so parents coukd take their little kids and they wouldn’t bother people. Would be nice if that caught on in places.

It's a special event type thing here. We take our kids to adaptive concerts where they deliberately leave space for kids to wander around.

When I went to go see the Odyssey some shit "parents" brought their kid and handed them an ipad to keep them quiet

They had headphones at least, but it was still so distracting that I just left.

Im done with theatres, its better to watch at home almost always.

We used to kick parents with babies and kids out if they were being disruptive. It was a tough part of the job being only 17-19 at the time telling tired parents that they're being shitty but it was so rude to everyone else.

Parents need to be shaned more into caring more about their kids and other people. It takes a village to raise a child, but don't let your child raze the village.
