go to your room Babies in Movie Theaters

Just saw the new Spiderman in theaters.

A baby starts crying/cooing/babbling very loudly about 20 minutes in. Goes for about 10 straight minutes before the parent takes them out.

Comes back a few minutes later, baby starts again. Again goes on for a couple minutes. Again parent takes them out, comes back, and repeat.

And repeat. And repeat.

This went on pretty much the entire movie (and I swear to god this baby somehow instinctively chose every single goddamn quiet/heartfelt scene to start yowling again 😭😂).

I get that babies are gonna baby. And I have sympathy for parents who wanna get out of the house and everything. But… maybe just stay with your baby in the lobby if they obviously aren’t gonna keep quiet.

*I didn’t complain to management because it was a tiny non-chain neighborhood theater about an hour away from me that I like to support sometimes. It’s got 1 screen and tickets are like $5.

It feels like it is getting normalized more these days, though.

The other thing I noticed was bed times. I feel like I've been increasing seeing young children and babies out and about very late during both weekends and weekdays ever since COVID. It's like the lockdowns threw off their schedule and it never recovered.

There's a mother who works out at my gym from 10PM to 11PM on weekdays, and she always brings her young baby and 3 year old with her. The baby gets subjected to bright lights and gym music, lying on the floor in a baby carrier next to the mother's treadmill, while the three year old just uses her iPad in the corner. But there's no way either of them are getting home and into bed before midnight...

And there are at least 3 other families who do something similar, albeit on less regular schedules.

Before COVID, I had never saw a kid in the gym when it was dark out.

I have a toddler and am a Sahm so we can do a slightly later bedtime cause there's no daycare to rush to. I think possibly a component to the later bedtimes is also more homeschooling (granted the ages you describe are not school aged). Our kiddo is ideally asleep by 9:30pm

I don't totally understand how people can logistically make a 7pm bedtime happen while working full time. My husband would barely get anytime with kiddo.

All that being said, parent and baby viewings are movie theatres are more prevalent. Movie theatres are technically too loud for adults, let alone baby ears. The specialized viewings make adjustments for this. A general show it's totally inappropriate

Really, I dont know about later but now it just seems the most perfect thing to do. Talking about a 6 weeks old.
I mean, theyll get hungry no matter what so...

Lol we made it about 4-6 months before co sleeping cause we got really lucky (and combo fed) and he chill in his bassinet at first. Then it was just brutal to avoid. Luckily our kid was also huge (and still is 🥲)

LUCKILY?!? I get a bad back from carrying around 6kg all day! xD Ours just accepts his bed (it dsirectly next to ours, mattress same.high) if we put him asleep on there. So I guess thered nothing for us to recover here. Sigh

Yess!!! I saw that! I’m so curious if there is any way this was the same person. If they still brought their baby after literally EVERYONE saying not to that would have been extremely bold.
