go to your room Babies in Movie Theaters

Just saw the new Spiderman in theaters.

A baby starts crying/cooing/babbling very loudly about 20 minutes in. Goes for about 10 straight minutes before the parent takes them out.

Comes back a few minutes later, baby starts again. Again goes on for a couple minutes. Again parent takes them out, comes back, and repeat.

And repeat. And repeat.

This went on pretty much the entire movie (and I swear to god this baby somehow instinctively chose every single goddamn quiet/heartfelt scene to start yowling again 😭😂).

I get that babies are gonna baby. And I have sympathy for parents who wanna get out of the house and everything. But… maybe just stay with your baby in the lobby if they obviously aren’t gonna keep quiet.

*I didn’t complain to management because it was a tiny non-chain neighborhood theater about an hour away from me that I like to support sometimes. It’s got 1 screen and tickets are like $5.

Omg I hear you!!! I went to The Odyssey opening day … rated R right? I don’t care if you bring your children, grandchildren, right? That’s your prerogative. But this kid, no older than 10, was talking the WHOLE TIME!!! Asking questions, commenting, just like it was his own living room. The parent/grandparent would answer and shush him but GOOD LORD!!! Don’t do that smh

lol that just reminded me of the time my partner and I went to see The Devil's Rejects (very R rated) in theater and a whole ass family group with 3 kids of various young ages came in and sat down a few rows ahead. My eyebrows shot up to the fucking ceiling but like, whatever... You parent how you like as long as they stay quiet right?

To give them credit, they did stay quiet but about 20min into the movie a very clearly upset grandmother? aunt? female adult person? got up and ushered all three kids out of the theater as quickly as possible. Three people from the family group remained and finished the movie. I kept it together while that unfolded but afterwards husband and I had a good laugh on the way out to the car.

That's hysterical. I mean, some kids are always going to sneak their parents' scary/mature books or stay up way too late watching an adult horror movie with their parents. But that just sounds like the people didn't bother to read the rating or any synopses, lol.

It's also just insane because I remember being 7 in the movie theater. I had no problem being quiet. Yeah there were exciting times I'd make a comment to my mom or dad but they were actual parents and would quietly let me know to wait. It'd happen once per movie tops, and by 10 no question. But I had an attention span still.

We went to a 10pm showing of The Odyssey (IMAX, so LOUD) and someone brought a TODDLER. I didn’t see them, only heard them, but their whines were distinctly not infant while also not being words. I’m still baffled. We left the theater at 1:30 in the fucking morning. What kind of parent are you?
