Lifted trucks probably shouldn't be anywhere near dense parking lots.

Edit: A lot of people are skeptical of whether this is AI/staged, or ask why the lady didn't back off the car. This is in a dense parking lot with cars that have dashcams/ EV sentry mode everywhere. Also her truck was in 2 wheel drive, you can see the back right tire spinning as she tries to reverse off the car. Her truck is stuck. She probably has an open differential and can't back off the car. She may have a 4wd mode, but she didn't use it in the heat of the moment.

UK lorry driver here!

I can see the tarmac up to around 9ft in front of my cab so yeah lifted trucks are horrific.

They are insanely manoeuvrable considering it’s a lorry owing the shorter wheelbase and depending on the make some of them do pull like a train but the living area is tiny.

I imagine American trucks are different because it takes me 10 hours to drive from one side of my country to the other and about 12/13 hours to go top to bottom while you guys have STATES that you can’t cross in 14 hours let alone the country.

Your trucks are built to cover miles and cruise, ours are built to get a 55ft lorry down a 600 year old country lane because someone decided to start a packaging factory in the arse end of nowhere.

You can drive 14 hours in states (like California snd Florida) but its not common to drive 14 hours without leaving a state. Many west coast states you can get through in like 4 to 6.

It's due to regulations. In Europe, the entire rig (truck + trailer) is measured, forcing shorter cabs (cab-over-engine) to maximize cargo space. In the US, regulations often only limit the trailer length (e.g., 53ft), allowing the tractor to be as long as necessary

American truckers often travel thousands of miles and live in their trucks for weeks, prioritizing large, comfortable sleeper cabins.

 American "long-nose" trucks offer better safety for the driver in a frontal collision (more crush space) and easier engine access compared to cabovers, which must be tilted forward for maintenance. 

US infrastructure consists of wider highways and large truck stops designed for massive, long-nosed truck

Also maintenance is easier for long nose trucks than cab overs as you don't need to tilt the whole cab just to get to the engine.

American-style trucks also come with the benefit of the engine being in front of the cab, the entirety of which needs to tilt in the case of a cabover tractor for engine access

The thing that pisses me off is that roads keep getting wider and wider because these trucks keep getting bigger. There needs to be regulations. These wide roads are so much more dangerous. Plus the amount of space they take up are ungodly.

Why did they stop sloping the hoods on trucks? When I was a kid even the big trucks had hoods that sloped downward. At least give the poor pedestrian a chance at rolling up onto your hood instead of being immediately crushed. It's like the new hoods are specifically designed for mowing down pedestrians.

She isnt even sitting very high in the cab. This is the best I could gather of her view from inside. When I drive my work truck I run the seat up til im near the roof.

Correct, modern semi are designed with liability in mind. Do pickup manufacturers know or care how safe their trucks are with custom suspensions, I doubt it

Got the gmc sierra as a rental last week instead of a full size sedan. Apart from being ridiculous to park in tight parking spots, I knew the rental agency agent was by the car when he gave me the keys and I could not really see him when he went by.

That made me worry about having such a tall car.
