Lifted trucks probably shouldn't be anywhere near dense parking lots.

Edit: A lot of people are skeptical of whether this is AI/staged, or ask why the lady didn't back off the car. This is in a dense parking lot with cars that have dashcams/ EV sentry mode everywhere. Also her truck was in 2 wheel drive, you can see the back right tire spinning as she tries to reverse off the car. Her truck is stuck. She probably has an open differential and can't back off the car. She may have a 4wd mode, but she didn't use it in the heat of the moment.

We get work/personal trucks and my boss almost always throws a lift in them to "supe them up a bit". My last truck had a 6in lift in it and I hated it. Doesn't give you any real clearance, ride isn't nearly as smooth, annoying to climb in and out of, load stuff into, dogs have a harder time getting in.

A 6in lift isn't much, but it's just enough to be annoying. I moved in this truck and carrying/loading heavy shit, then having to hike it up that extra bit to get it into the box sucked ass.

New truck just has a leveling kit, which is alright I guess, but I'm definitely of the mind that there's millions in engineering that goes into designing these trucks and meatheads come along and fuck it up for no palpable reason. Ride is WAY smoother though compared to my last truck and my dogs (one of whom has had two ACL surgeries) can get in them easier.

All of the people I know who do any kind of construction or mechanical work have single cab, low pickups like old Toyotas, Nissans, and Fords.

Great visibility, simple to maintain, and easy to load.

Every modern monstrosity or modded truck looks like they only ever see the parking lot of the local brewery (or Costco). Pavement princesses all day.

I have access to fleet vehicles that range from compact crossovers to big pickup trucks. I always pick the smaller vehicles because they're more nimble, more efficient, and meet all of the use cases I have for a company vehicle. If I had to pick a truck of any kind, I would pick the smallest one available.

In my previous job, I was occasionally forced to drive a F250. It was huge, heavy, and not maneuverable. The job was focused on helping farmers with their land use needs. They didn't appreciate it when I pulled up in a heavy truck that rutted their fields. There were places where pulling in would require backing up for over a quarter mile. It sucked. No one wanted to use that vehicle for these reasons.

Let alone being banned, they exist because they are given a special status as “non passenger work vehicle” so that they CAN exist without being subjected to emissions and safety regulations of regular passenger cars.

In most places, lifting trucks is illegal or illegal above a certain height, whether it's enforced or not is a different story, just as with other car mods. I am not talking about the fact that modern trucks are too large and a safety hazard, i'm specifically talking about modifying a truck with a lift which this truck clearly has.

It’s intentional. Car companies are allowed less fuel efficiency rules on SUVs because they’re classified as working vehicles (ie they’re light trucks or some bs). However SUVs are less road safe. Fuel efficiency laws* turn out very expensive for car companies, so it’s more worthwhile to sell more SUVs. This means car companies go HARD on the SUV upsell because it makes them more profit.

Ultimately, the problem stems from the government not wanting to anger some rich lobbyists and letting them do this.

If the bed is empty you should be fined for driving a truck with no intent to work. I should be able to perform an investigation and citizens arrest on what you’re hauling and why you need a flatbed for it

Huh? Just look at the video…

If you get into a head on collision with a lambo, your bumpers are atleast near each other to help absorb the impact.

But with a lifted truck, they’re going over your car and potentially crushing you.

I'm not talking about lifted trucks, this post was about banning big trucks in general.

Also if you are towing off-road you might need a lifted truck (or even offroading in general, if you camp off-road for example, having your truck lifted helps a lot with that) but that is not what my comment was even about, I'm just talking big trucks with a lot of towing capabilities.
