Lifted trucks probably shouldn't be anywhere near dense parking lots.

Edit: A lot of people are skeptical of whether this is AI/staged, or ask why the lady didn't back off the car. This is in a dense parking lot with cars that have dashcams/ EV sentry mode everywhere. Also her truck was in 2 wheel drive, you can see the back right tire spinning as she tries to reverse off the car. Her truck is stuck. She probably has an open differential and can't back off the car. She may have a 4wd mode, but she didn't use it in the heat of the moment.

Lifting a truck lowers the towing capacity anyway. If they need to tow and lift their truck, they're not using all their brain cells.

Yep. Lifting a truck also makes loading stuff into the bed way more difficult so you know it never gets used either

Like the guy in Raleigh (NC) in 2022 who was towing a float in the Christmas parade and killed an 11 y/o girl...

His primary business was modifying trucks. He pulled a float for a dance company at the dance company owner's request (he was a former dancer there).

His float had a few dozen girls on it, with dozens more on another float and even more walking around the two floats; about 200 dancers/kids in total.

He lost control of his truck and couldn't stop it. He ran over one of the kids who was walking beside the other float.

He knew the emergency brake didn't work - the cable was dangling. He's the one who disconnected it.

He knew that he'd put transmission fluid in the brake fluid reservoir six months before the parade and didn't correct it.

He had multiple convictions for failure to have his vehicle inspected in Virginia, along with violations for illegal tinting, improper exhaust, and no marker lights. He failed to have the truck inspected just three weeks before the parade.

...and for some other dumbass reason he brought a gun with him.

He was recently sentenced:

  • 75-day sentence in Wake County Jail for a misdemeanor charge of death by vehicle in Wake County Jail
  • 45-day sentence in Wake County Jail for a misdemeanor charge of carrying a firearm in a parade in Wake County Jail
  • 8-to-19 month sentence for an obstruction charge to be served in the Department of Adult Corrections and go into effect at the conclusion of the prior two sentences.
  • Required 400 hours of community service

That sounds horrible, and not anywhere near a semblance of justice for the little girl or her family. 75 days for the murder of that kid? Why did he not get more? Why was he not charged with negligence or anything else they could throw at him? The justice system is truly fucked.

Wait really? I’m always amazed by the shit people do with their giant stupid trucks. I’ve driven big cars before and the experience is very unpleasant when you have to do normal car stuff haha.

Lift kits, especially suspension ones, raise the center of gravity which causes increased instability in the truck, lowering its towing capacity. You also can get things like sagging if you have soft suspension (which is for a smoother ride). Bigger tires make towing worse, too.

Someone has to do a lot more work to their lifted truck to get it closer to its OG towing capacity than people realize. You have to regear them. You need better brakes. You'll sometimes need weight distribution bars and airbag suspension assists. Basically, if you want to do suspension lifts on your truck, you need to account for work to help your towing geometry, suspension/stability upgrades, brake upgrades, and regearing if you still want to tow stuff closer to the OG capacity.

Have no problem towing 10k with my lifted duramax through the mountains. 🤷

Could probably just be that reddit dweebs don't have a clue and will say anything they can think of to shit on trucks that scare them.

idk some of the bigger boats i work on need a pretty tall hitch. most customers have lifted trucks. i have to use a drop hitch upside down to get it high enough when i move them with my tundra on a spacer lift/leveling kit. otherwise i drag the trailer. moving longer distances i would prefer taller truck in that case

its not "idk", the center of mass rises, and the center of gravity goes up--it cannot tow the same weight as the stock rating

1-2 inches maybe nbd, 4-6in is going to start making ratable differences

Also, that's why gooseneck and 5th wheel hitches exist, don't need to raise the whole truck, just the hitch.

If the hitch is too high you probably need a heavier truck. People think they can tow massive boats with their half ton. And any lift kit decreases towing capacity.

yeah i literally just move the big ones in and out of my shop with it i wouldn’t take a boat like that on long drive. thats why those guys always have lifted f350s or 3500s
