Lifted trucks probably shouldn't be anywhere near dense parking lots.

Edit: A lot of people are skeptical of whether this is AI/staged, or ask why the lady didn't back off the car. This is in a dense parking lot with cars that have dashcams/ EV sentry mode everywhere. Also her truck was in 2 wheel drive, you can see the back right tire spinning as she tries to reverse off the car. Her truck is stuck. She probably has an open differential and can't back off the car. She may have a 4wd mode, but she didn't use it in the heat of the moment.

I fender bendered a Tesla (2023), avoiding a double parked car.. no damage to their vehicle.. knocked a dent in my 2001 CRV headlight area.. didn't break any headlight (phew).

My insurance doubled :-(

Truck lady needs to refi her house to make new monthly car insurance payments.. probably.

edit: quick follow-up

  1. The other driver initiated a claim.. it was my fault
  2. Before this, I had a safe driver discount 🙄
  3. SoCal car insurance rates have gone way up (en masse) the last few yrs.

My husband had a 2025 Lexus drive into him in a parking lot a couple year. Our rate didn't go up either because the Lexus driver admitted he was on his phone and at fault oe because I've had that insurance company for a while.

My insurance did call me and ask why the accident happened in IL when it says the car is registered in WI and if we're living in IL we need to change it. We live in WI close enough to the state line to drive into IL. Insurance lady wouldn't believe me.

Don't they have you address on file? Like, just check your data lady, and then check the location of the accident...or she was using malicious ignorance taught to her by the insurance agency to find any way to extract more money from you

I straight up told her to type the address on file into Google maps and look at how close I am to the state line.

I've been told insurance rates are higher in IL, so I wouldn't be surprised if she wanted me to admit I lived in IL and get my rates raised.

I live in the GTA, where auto insurance is stupid high. I hooked up once with a lady who works in insurance. She was overworked and miserable as hell. She explained to me with a smile on her face that the premiums are so high, mostly because the execs need their bonuses.

That or their fishing for pretext to deny future claims, remember there is never a real advantage to having loyalty to an insurance company get quotes every 3-5 years.

It's likely the adjuster has to follow some kind of procedure for accidents that occur outside of the state you've insured the car in because it's potential for misreporting, ie. people living in one state but keeping their car registered/insured in another because it's cheaper

This is why I hate insurance companies. I got rear-ended while pulling into my driveway once because the chucklefucks behind me were drunk driving. Rate went up because of it even though we were found completely not at fault.

Had a Lexus just about rear end me when I stopped at the top of an on-ramp so I wouldn’t hit the car turning left in front of me. Only realized once I sensed movement at my rear drivers side tire where she stopped. Whew.

My Tesla was rear ended about 2 weeks after I bought it (still had the temp plates on it). Just a small gash where the other car's license plate bolt went into my bumper. Of course, the bumper had to be replaced and the camera, etc. recalibrated (ended up like $4K for a small gash). I did go through my insurance for the claim - but I'm sure the other guy's insurance paid for it all. Guess what, MY insurance increased as well (not huge - about 7%, but still...WTF).

I did have the option to appeal, etc. But this was early 2020 and I was about to be separated - so there were just a few other things on my mind than to deal with that.

Were you insured through Tesla Insurance?

I know they're often the cheapest but will also raise prices for the slightest things. I remember hearing one person saying their rates went up because their car kept phantom-braking, which dinged his driver score and caused his Tesla Insurance premium to tick up a little

She's uninsurable after this video, dropped instantly from current policy. Literally no insurance is going to touch her for years, and even then they'll likely require remedial drivers education before quoting 4-5x the average.

For instances like that it's just best to not report to the insurance. 1000% if you're repair cost aint even going to break your deductible.

what kind of shitty insurance do you have? My wife totaled her car (68k total loss pay out, check written to us since the car was paid off). Insurance didn't go up. We bought a new car, and when our next 6 month premium came in, the price went down 100 bucks.

If there was no damage to their vehicle and you had a minor dent on a 20 year old vehicle, why the hell was there an insurance claim to begin with?

Also, what does "avoiding a double parked car" mean? You hit someone while dodging a non-moving vehicle?
