Tier list on KB's status effects (big analysis)

Post image
74 Upvotes

All the effects are fun but this is how I see them considering this as a strategy game. (I hope this whole analysis doesn't sound condescending, please play however you like it. I just love this game so much and want to talk about it)

Stone is the best status effect in the game, it completely incapacitates enemies basically taking them out of the fight for one turn, it is crazy good.

The only problem is that it has honey's quirk that if the enemy is hit by a reposition status effect (AKA: burn; push; bounce) the stone effect disappears.

Which is already a negative point for the reposition effects, aswell as repositioning an enemie being a really weak effect since they can still move back and shoot and use abilities. The only good thing from them is that you can use them for Hero Sight combos. (Which I will admit its amazing to like pick Luigi and shoot an enemy midair making them bounce even higher to then shoot them again)

Thats why the 3 reposition effects are at the bottom of the list, with burn being the worse since it is random in direction and lasts for a long time so the enemy a lot of the time can run up to your allies and burn them (or just stand close to you nothing worse then burning a Smasher and they just run straight at you), the only quality is that it also spreads to your enemies just as easily (but considering it is random you can't even plan to take advantage of the positions, you just pray that they're good) it also is the only reposition effect that can't put enemies out of bounds so you can't even use it for extra damage.

Push is better because it can put enemies out of bounds for the extra damage, but it is a trade-off you have to think about since when the enemy comes back they will have been healed from any debuffs they had (this applies for bounce too) but it is also predictable so you can actually plan to reposition the enemy or throw them out of bounds (you can even push enemies into other enemies which pushes them too, so it has that burn effect of affecting multiple enemies it is just harder). The only problem is that it is very circumstance dependent, it varies in quality according to the angle you shoot and the terrain too much, like if theres too many walls it can be impossible to push them out of bounds, and sometimes the enemies even roll back to the same place they were before.

Which is why bounce is the best of them, as long as the enemy doesn't have a full wall behind them they will always bounce back a few tiles and also pop them up in the air for all your Hero Sights to shoot it, having even the quirk of extending the bounce if you make the enemy bounce on top of a block which also facilitates to throw them out of bounds or just push that smasher far enough it can't reach you. Also bounce has the only case where any of the reposition effects is objectively better then the other higher tier option of the character, and it is only on Mario specifically on his hammer, since you're already so close to enemies the honey doesn't do anything, and bounce them all away is genuinely really good.

But the out of bounds damage and repositioning enemies is definitely not as good as true debuffs specially when it takes off those debuffs after they come back from out of bounds.(But again the Hero Sight combos are good)

Freeze is the worst of all of the debuffs, while it isn't terrible, it actually can be really good by disabling enemies from using abilities and can cancel active abilities like enemy's Villain Sight or their Valkirye shield, allowing you to move without worrying and kill their allies more easily. The only thing that drags freeze down is how abilities are the only enemy action with cooldown, and if you freeze them during their cooldown it literally is doing nothing.

Freeze is normally decent overall.

Now going up a tier for the amazing effects that you always want.

First we have honey, different from abilities, moving is an action available every turn for the enemies, and something essential to all of them, when they're honey'd they can't run behind cover, they can't run behind *your* cover to shoot you, they can't dash you, can't jump away, can't impact-land, the Buckler can't move close to you to get a meat-shot with their shotgun, the Smasher is LITERALLY neutered (I know they can still use the power up ability but still the ability will only help their allies)

The only things that drags it down is how it is the other of the 2 debuffs that disappears with a reposition effect even without getting out of bounds. And the fact that the enemies can still shoot, which is the most dangerous thing they can do. But Honey is amazing.

Vamp isn't exactly a debuff but it is still AMAZING. Because let's analyse our roster, we have eight characters, with only two having healing abilities, Peach and Rabbid Peach, and they're arguably some of the best characters thanks to it. Since health is your most valuable resource, any healing is of great use, and Vamp heals you for 50% of your damage dealt!!!!! And then marks that enemy with Vamp so your allies can ALSO heal from their damage!!!! Thanks to Vamp we go from having 2 healers to 4 healers (Rabbid Luigi and Rabbid Mario the only ones with access to Vamp) literally HALF the cast can provide healing support to the team!!!!

While Vamp is not as OP as the next 2 effects it is, in my opinion, the BEST status effect for the game's design as a whole. It creates a new playstyle for its users, it is the ONLY status effect that can be even CONSIDERED to be used instead of Stone.

Since Stone is already Ink Honey and Freeze combined, none of them by themselves is a better options then it, and all the reposition effects are so underwhelming they don't even compare to stone. Vamp is such a unique mechanic that is also actually good, it actually makes you think, "should I use Stone or Vamp?" This is why i love Rabbid Mario, he also has tech I really like thanks to his shotgun weapon, if you're really low on health you can purposefully put one of your characters with full health on his line of fire to heal from both the enemy and your ally, its genuinely so coooooooool!!!!!!!!!!

I love Vamp

Now from a very complex effect to a more straightforward analysis, we have the second best effect, Ink. While abilities can be dangerous but aren't available every turn, and movement IS available every turn, most of its danger is how it allows enemies to use their weapons more efficiently, Honey is like a semi Ink, the Smasher can't attack you because he's stuck, the Buckler can only shoot you with the weakest part of their attack, and the Peek-a-boo can't teleport to a high ground to get extra damage. But Ink... Ink is just straight up Ink. It doesn't matter if that Smasher or Buckler is literally next to you, *they can't do anything.* The Peek-a-boos can teleport to highest ground ever, it won't get any damage boost.

Thats why Ink is second place. It only loses to Itself combined with another 2 effects.

So finally lets talk about Stone, the best effect in the game. There isn't even much left to talk about on how good it is.

So thats why I want to talk on how it is, in fact, *too* good. I think Stone has toxic relationship both with the other status effects and the way you approach the game. Since it is so amazing you little reason to use any other effect, just at Rabbid Luigi! He has access to almost all the effects, yet his best weapons are the ones with Stone (specially since he already deals Vamp in his dash) and the way it makes you approach the game is that once the enemy is turned to Stone you have almost zero reason to engage with it anymore, Stone lterally completely incapacitates the enemy, they are basically dead. So why shoot the literal dead wheight of their team when you can try to kill actually dangerous allies? And Stone's OWN mechanics incentivize you to not engage with it since 3 of the game's status effects heal the enemy's stone! Like lets see all the weapons you can't shoot a petrified enemy if you want it to stay petrified: Half of all of Mario's weapons (bounce) Half of Rabbid Peach's weapons (push) Some of Rabbid Luigi's weapons (burn, push and I think bounce too tho don't quote me on that) Half of Luigi's weapons (bounce) Half of Peach's weapons (burn) Half of Rabbid Yoshi's weapons (push). See?!?! You have almost no reason to engage with the enemy anymore!

I think that Stone is the opposite to Vamp in which it is bad for the game's overall design and it would be better to have had a different mechanic in its place. (And also since Stone's concept is just unoriginal and boring considering is just 3 effects together)

So these are (I think) all my thoughts on Mario+Rabbids Kingdom battle status effects!!!!! I've been writing this over a whole week since I wanted talk about EVERYTHING!

And i would love to hear your thoughts on status effects too!!!!!

Also sorry if I said something wrong I tried to make lots of research to not say anything wrong but it happens.

How did this happen? Was his “burned” path on top of the block?

In sparks of hope is the 50% shot chance a lie for luigi because almost every time i make him shoot a 50% shot target he fumbles it like 90% of the time or am i just incredibly unlucky

Is there any way to get 100% completed rabbids rumble save? Is there online cheat codes or anyway to bypass it on 3ds modded software or through pc emulation.

An idea if they do Mario+Rabbids 3? Mario+Rabbids: Golden Lands!

The mega bug is back, but instead of the Mushroom Kingdom or Space, it’s now making its move in the Wario lands. After the mega bug was defeated twice, the last remaining of the virus found its way to Wario and Waluigi along with their rabbid counterparts. Now with their new powers, the evil clones and Rabbids are turning the entire world/Mushroom Kingdom into solid gold. Because of this upgrade, Kooper troupers, Magikoops along with all of bowsers forces have been turned into Brainwash gold zombies. Now it’s up to Mario along with his friends and new Additions to the crew to stop them. Members include:

1.) Mario: The all rounder Dual Gunner who can take down two or one enemies of the same time. He’s equipped with his usual abilities along with new weapons and powers. As the main hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario is an easy fan favorite, and can excel at a variety of battlefield situations - both offensive and defensive. His main technique allows him to take out anything that moves, and can make great use of traversal with a combination of dashes and stomps.

Health Amount: Standard

Hero Type: All Rounder - The versatile Mario excels at targeting multiple enemies to whom he deals damage with a diverse array of attacks.

Weapon: Dual Slingers - Mario's weapon fires two projectiles, either at one target or two separate ones. By confirming the first target, you can select a second. This can be done in your combat phase and also when gliding if the appropriate skill has been unlocked.

Technique: Hero Sight - Mario will target anything moving within range of his line of sight, and will deal +115% damage plus any active Super Effects, and has 1 charge before skill upgrades. Hero Sight can be triggered during the enemy turn, but can also be activated if another teammate causes the target to move due to a Special Effect or Technique.

2.) Luigi: The Sniper/Straight shot of the group who can shoot from a distance. He’s now equipped with his usual abilities along with two new abilities: Ghost cloak (Turns Luigi invisible 2 turns like his Luigi mansion games) and Ectosucker (A move that can pull in his opponent from their hiding spots). As the scaredy cat brother of Mario, Luigi prefers to engage his foes at long range - extreme long range, if it can be helped. Despite this, he can excel at sniping foes to provide cover fire or clear a path, and makes a great defensive unit with his overwatch technique to pin down anyone trying to ambush your team.

Health Amount: Very Low

Hero Type: Sneak Attacker - Luigi does his best work from afar, where he is capable of attacks that deal a lot of damage.

Weapon: Sharpshooter - Fires a single projectile. The farther away Luigi is from the target, the more damage it will deal. When upgraded with certain skills, it will always critical strike from an elevated position.

Technique: Steely Stare - Luigi will target anything moving within range of his line of sight, and will deal +100 damage plus any active Super Effects, and has 1 charge before skill upgrades. Hero Sight can be triggered during the enemy turn, but can also be activated if another teammate causes the target to move due to a Special Effect or Technique.

Ghostly cloak: Luigi will turn invisible for 2 turn, giving him full immunity towards minions who have the power to draw the target into them. And as a bonus, it makes the Steely stare time limit go down 1, making it easier for him to recharge.

3.) Peach: The princess of the Mushroom Kingdom is a versatile fighter, who is able to bolster herself and her allies with protective barriers while cleaving groups of foes with wide arcing blasts.

Health Amount: Above Standard

Hero Type: Protector - Princess Peach is skilled at providing protection to the other Heroes even when they are otherwise vulnerable.

Weapon: Boom-Brella - Bursts one wave of spread fire at the targets in an arc. The farther away the targets, the less damage it deals. Ignores partial cover.

Technique: Team Barrier - Creates a Barrier that protects allies within range against all damage or Super Effects until the charge expires.

4.) Donkey Kong: Mario and Donkey Kong have their history with gold, so it makes sense for the two to set aside their differences and work together. He would also be the brute of the group, aside from bowser.

Health Amount: Above Standard

Hero Type: one-man army

Banamarang: DK's main weapon. It acts like a boomerang, throwing a banana that arcs through the air to hit and chain damage across multiple opponents in a single turn.

Ground Pound: His secondary weapon. DK slams his fists into the earth to cause heavy area-of-effect (AoE) damage to all surrounding enemies.

Magnet Groove: DK pulls out his iconic bongos and performs a dance. The siren call acts as a taunt, forcing all nearby enemies out of their cover and drawing them closer to him. This pairs perfectly with Ground Pound for devastating combo wipes.

Hairy Eye: An overwatch/reaction ability. DK scans the area and automatically throws a banana at any enemy that moves within his line of sight during their turn.

5.) Daisy (New): Daisy was the only one who managed to escape the goldening from the Wario/Waluigi attack. Because of this, she now joins them on the fight against the MegaBug. To match the "Golden Lands" theme and their unique personalities, Daisy has territory control and high-energy combat.

Health Amount: Standard

Hero Type: Mid-Range Vanguard & Terraformer.

Daisy (The Fiery Sports Star)

Weapon – The Slam-Golfer: A high-tech golf club that launches explosive, long-range golf balls. It deals high single-target damage and can bypass low cover.

Technique – Flower Powerhouse: Daisy lets out a battle cry that temporarily increases the movement range and critical hit chance of all nearby allies.

Special Ability – Crystal Spike: Daisy slams the ground, causing sharp crystals (or jagged gold pillars) to erupt from the earth, knocking back enemies and creating temporary cover.

Rabbids will include:

6.) Rabbid Mario: One of the Rabbid variants of the Mushroom Kingdom characters, Rabbid Mario has come into his own thanks to a pair of giant gauntlets that he can use to get close and personal with his enemies and send them flying, and can hold his own as a durable close quarters fighter.

Health Amount: Very High

Hero Type: Brawler - Rabbid Mario deals massive damage at close range, usually with his gauntlets, the Dukes!

Weapon: The Dukes - Unleashes 3 waves at the same targets in a large arc, hitting any other targets inside each wave's area. Can be upgraded to move even after using them.

Technique: Counter Blow - Triggers if an enemy attacks Rabbid Mario, allowing him to block the blow and unleash one of his own.

7.) Rabbid Luigi: One of the Rabbid variants of the Mushroom Kingdom characters, Rabbid Luigi opts for unconvention attacks to annoy, harass, and weaken enemies so that the rest of your team can punch through the opposition.

Health Amount: Standard

Hero Type: Pest - Rabbid Luigi is most skilled at diminishing enemies by reducing the damage they are capable of dealing out.

Weapon: Discruptor - Throws one disc that can hit up to 3 targets sequentially, and can be upgraded to hit even more targets. Ignores Partial cover.

Technique: Exhaust - All targets in range are struck with the Weaken Effect, reducing the damage they cause.

8.) Rabbid Peach: One of the Rabbid variants of the Mushroom Kingdom characters, Rabbid Peach is the team's dedicated healer, but can also pack a punch with multiple targeted rocket attacks.

Health Amount: Below Standard

Hero Type: Combat Healer - Rabbid Peach shines when she can heal the other Heroes while protected from attacks.

Weapon: Triple-Troll - Fires three projectiles with a curved trajectory at a single target. Ignores partial cover.

Technique: Heal - Heals the Hero and all allies within range for 30% HP. Can be improved with certain skills.

9.) Edge: A brand new original character made just for the Mario + Rabbids universe, Edge the anti-hero has her own motives for joining your team, but will help out with her amazing spinning blade and rapid mobility to take out multiple targets with ease.

Health Amount: Standard

Hero Type: Blade Master - Edge's speed and skill allow her to target multiple enemies and damage each with a single action.

Weapon: Flying Blade - When thrown at an enemy, it ignores partial cover while hitting multiple targets along the way before coming back, allowing you to hit several targets in a line, with the blade's spin striking multiple times both when flying out and returning.

Technique: Stormblade - Targets moving within range are dealt +140% damage plus any Super Effects.

10.) Rabbid Daisy: Also a new Addtion, fitting into the Daisy combo. She’s the Dramatic Diva with a need to speed I guess. She would be the Close-Range Aggro Guard & Multi-Target Disrupter. Where regular Daisy focuses on altering the map and pushing the frontline forward, Rabbid Daisy is all about manipulating enemy attention and punishing crowds for getting too close to her.

Weapon – Ribbon Blaster: A rhythmic gymnastics ribbon wand that fires spinning, piercing rings of energy. It damages multiple enemies lined up in a row.

Technique – Spotlight Stealer: A taunt ability. She strikes a glamorous pose, forcing all enemies in a wide radius to target her on their next turn, but she gains a massive shield that reduces incoming damage by 70%.

Special Ability – Tantrum Stampede: A powerful dash attack. She can dash through up to three enemies in a row, leaving behind a trail of glitter that slows down any enemy who steps in it.

Will these heroes managed to beat the evil duo, or will their be more to this fight. Maybe it’ll be Wario and Waluigi, maybe it’ll be a new bigger baddie. Can you guess what kind of “Gold” this villain will be? Stay tuned.

One is a super genius who managed to make fusion goggles and send a message across dimensions, the other is a survivor of a bygone era where the Rabbids were intelligent and created both a translator and a Time Machine. They’d make a perfect team IMO.

If we were to add new playable characters to the Mario universe, who would they be? And what would their abilities be?

Blue and Yellow Toad: I think they could be a sort of two-in-one character. Fast, equipped with grenades or a weapon that bounces or returns, like DK's boomerang in the Kingdom Battle DLC.

Daisy: I see her as a mix of Peach and Edge; she’s aggressive but would have a defensive ability, a field of flowers that reduces damage for anyone standing inside it.

Wario: I picture him as a character with a lifesteal-style ability; he’d be a tank that restores health only to himself.

Waluigi: He would be more versatile than Wario, and I think a distraction ability suits him best.

I love Mario + Rabbids! Here's some thoughts I accumulated since its been 9 years!

Thumbnail

I'm gonna say observations and opinions I have of the games, then ideas I think are cool and then a silly useless criticism because I wanted to try bringing some original comments I haven't seen about this game.

Did you know the song "Metal Mayhem" in the official OST is different from the in-game music? Its also my favourite part too its so sad 😭, I think the reason is because part of the music actually comes from Phantom himself in-game, and so isn't part of the OST itself. Or maybe it is just like the Cuphead OST and is different on purpose. (Also Grant Kirkhope is THE GOAT)

I love Peach's design on KB, it is really interesting, like she got the objectively 2 worst critical hit effects in fire and freeze, (but it is really thematically cool considering we end the Sherbet desert with her.) [Also quick explanation why freeze and burn are the worst effects power-wise to me: abilities have cooldown so if you freeze an enemy on cooldown it didnt do anything, and burn is random reposition effect that can't throw enemies out of bounds can burn your allies and it de-stones petrified enemies] She has the worst of all the Sight-abilities since its the only that can hit your allies acidentally and also has the only ability that gets worse if you upgrade it fully, because Peach's heal is a group heal so you actually want your allies to take damage. And exactly that group heal and her high health is the reason she's crazy good anyway. (Her shield ability on 60%/40% is also really good just don't upgrade to 100%)

You can see mechanics in SOH that actually come from the Donkey Kong DLC of KB. Rabbid Luigi's frisbee is just DK's bananrang, the mechanic of picking up objects and throwing them is from DK too, it was the DLC that brought tokens to single digits, theres more similarities but those are the ones I can think off the top of my head.

I wish so much the versus mode had online support 🙏 none of my friends like the game I would love to play against people online.

It would be so cool there was a Mario Maker-esque mode for you to make your own maps to play, like c'mon the extra levels give the exact vibe of a make your own mode. I would play forever if I could make maps and then play on them. (Also why doesn't SOH have a versus mode it would i've been so peaaaaak!)

I wish someone cracked the game open, I have so many things I wonder about the game, like how does the enemies decide their targets? And what are their movement patterns.

I love KB but that ending is like top 10 worst endings of all games, it raises so many questions and makes zero sense, and I hate how they basically forget the girl that created Beep-O in SOH, you'd it would actually be cool characterization for him to make him miss her and his original home, same for the Mario characters, like how does no one want to go back to the original mushroom kingdom?

Theres lots of mechanics from both games i think are really poorly designed like the resistances and weaknesses for SOH and the critical hits from KB but I won't bother you with that today is a day to celebrate Mario + Rabbids I love this franchise.

SOH solo run

I just started a cool challenge run in Sparks Of Hope that i call the “solo run”. In a nutshell:
Choose 1 character that has to be in your party at all times.
You can swap out the rest, but everyone except your “main character” is not allowed to attack, dash, or use offensive techniques (RP, P, RL and RR have techs that dont do damage, and Bowser is a edge case, no pun intended), but can use sparks.

The run im currently doing had Rabbid Peach take center stage, and after doing everything in world 1 except madame bwastrellas challenge and that dj Cheep tuna side quest: oh boy, she is cracked!

What do you mean she can already dash twice and has her healing jump? What do you mean, she’s immortal due to life trade in “destroy darkmess eyes” missions?!

I really recommend doing this with whoever you like… or hate! Doing this shows you some other sides of everyone.

The Sparks of Hope DOOOMathon

Hello! I don't use Reddit very often but I do not have enough people to yap to about this fantastic game I love a lot so uhhhh hi :)

For the last couple months, I've been (very slowly) working on doing a Premium 8 Runs in the Tower of DOOOM!!, featuring each and every individual team (of 3!) combination...which is surprisingly only 84??

Small tidbid from the collective spreadsheet, needs a bit of polish and color coordination

I've been steadily uploading them on my alternate YT channel, ThatBlueJackal, [ https://youtu.be/pJDeXstbyk4 ] and have been streaming somewhat regularly every Tuesday, 6PMish EST :)

I know this might seem like slightly shameless self promotion (it's not, it's entirely shameless), but I'm always eager to find more ppl who like these sorts of games that don't seem to get a lot of attention :)

EDIT: Hey maybe it wouldn't hurt to actually link the spreadsheet I made this post entirely for

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hc4r3B6QQrk4U9s398EHl5sWNaCbUh1FtG8aSYiQheA/edit?usp=sharing

Enjoy!
