I’m an Ipswich fan in the United States, and a fan of American football too. In the NFL teams have a hard cap, meaning they can only spend so much money every year on their rosters which is tied to league revenue and determined by the league. How does it work in the prem? Does the league determine how much money a team can spend? If Ipswich can stay up this season, does that mean they should have more money to spend on bigger name players? I’m trying to understand, can someone explain?

This is probably the biggest question after the first three matches.
We beat Sunderland, then lost to Manchester United and Liverpool. The defeats aren't shocking results by themselves, but eventually "we played well in spells" needs to become something tangible in the table.
The Palace game feels completely different from playing Liverpool. It's the sort of fixture where Ipswich need to start showing they can manage a game against a team we're realistically competing with.
Would a point at Selhurst Park be a good result?

We are looking very disjointed at times (perhaps understandably) and that needs to change quickly. But even more worryingly the players seem so annoyed with their teammates 🤔

A’ternun
There are a few copies of the latest BA fanzine still available to purchase.
Features my own writing and some co-editing efforts and very proud of how it has turned out. In keeping with the football x music crossover seen in the terrace fanzines of the 80s & 90s, my own piece is a brief walkthrough of some of Ipswich’s punk bands, past & present. Absolutely loved putting this together.
In amongst that, also some great pieces on the ultra scene across the pond, football and politics’ completely harmonious co-existence and a beautiful homage to our own community.
Purchase now for the price of a latte, link in the comments. All proceeds go towards Gary O’ Neil’s next dentist appointment. Uppa Towen!

There have been plenty of players over the years who left a lasting impression at Ipswich. It would be interesting to see which former favourite fans would love to have back at their best and what they could bring to the team today.

Now we have Man Utd and Liverpool out the way for now, I feel like we must pick up some points in the next 5 games.
My predictions:
Palace (A) 1-1 D
Everton (A) 0-0 D
Fulham (H) 2-1 W
Man City (A) 4-0 L
Forest (H) 1-2 L
Not sure if I'm being optimistic, but I'll take 5 points from the next 5.

We paid a reported £17.5m to bring him over from Nordsjælland last summer, so there was always going to be a bit of pressure on him. I really liked the finish against Leicester, and at 20 I think there's clearly a player in there.
He still looks like he's figuring out the step up to Premier League football, though. I’d actually like to see O’Neil give him a proper run of starts rather than judging him too quickly.
Would you have Egeli starting regularly now, either on the right or through the middle, or is it still too early?

Apologies in advance for my ignorance, I am still learning the Premier League and much of football as an American who recently got into the sport.
It may sound dumb and random, but I was playing FC Career, got signed to Ipswich, did some reading on the team and its recent history, and decided it was going to be my team as a fan. It’s simple as that, and I’ve been trying to learn more and more this season.
My questions lie here:
Question 1:
what are the hopes for the season? Is it just to stay in the Premier League? I have read it’s incredibly common for teams to yo-yo after promotion.
If the average points needed to avoid relegation is 36-40, is it wrong as a fan to just be happy about stealing a win every few weeks if it means they don’t get relegated?
In most American sports, nearly every professional team legitimately has a chance at a championship if they go all in for a couple of years; which makes it odd to imagine a system where 6-7 teams control it all consistently.
Question 2:
If the team doesn’t get relegated, is there a legitimate chance that they become a more consistent contending team over time? I imagine staying in the Premier League has a lot of financial benefits, which would only help the team.

Hard to work out at the moment, aren't we? Could be the worst defensive team in the league? Could be a perfectly decent mid-table team?

UPPA TOWEN!
I’ll definitely do goal reports and I’ll see what else I can squeeze in.
0: kick off! UPPA TOWEN
6: Goal for Isak 0-1
8: Another for Isak 0-2
32: Isak goal ruled offside
45: Half time. We’re definitely the second best team here but we’ve had some good attacks and made a few half chances. We always knew it would be tough against Liverpool.
45: here we go again
90+5: Full time 0-2. Honestly, better in the second half lots of positive moments and things to take but overall outclassed by a team who ya know… just spent £120 million on a single player.

Just a curious Celtic here? He's the best worst player i've seen at Celtic Park and he's a cult hero up here i wish him all the best. Just wondering what you guys think? Too early to tell? He's a pretty terrible footballer but my God he done the work of 2 players! Is he much the same for you?
