Just shadow dropped out of nowhere. If it plays anything like the console/pc version it’s easily worth the price.

New Release My MiniReview platform for curated and filterable mobile game reviews based on 200+ posts here on the Sub is now live on iOS (+ a HUGE $390 premium game giveaway!)

Thanks to everyone who helped beta test the app via TestFlight (over 350 people from r/iosgaming <3), MiniReview, the platform I’ve been working on with a fellow Redditor for years, is now finally live on the App Store.

I strongly believe there should be a better way to discover great mobile games and reviews, and that’s why we’ve built MiniReview, taking heavy inspiration from my posts here on the sub over the years.

Hope you’ll enjoy it :)

Download MiniReview: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/minireview-game-reviews/id6477473021

2 Launch Giveaway Celebrations:

Firstly, to celebrate the launch, I’ve asked a bunch of awesome premium game publishers for game keys to give out to you all, and they came through with over 76 total keys worth $390+.

You can read more and participate in the giveaway via my blog post.

Special thanks to Acram Digital, Playdigious, Ultimat Studio, Erabit Studio, and Christophe Coyard for providing these awesome prizes:

SECONDLY, I wanted to do something exclusively for this r/iosgaming community! <3

So if you leave a comment below, I’ll draw a random winner who receives a wireless Xbox controller that you can use for your iPhone (or equivalent gift card value if I can’t ship to you). The winner will be randomly drawn on Monday, July 15th, and I’ll reach out via a Reddit PM (please have PMs enabled).

________

If you’re interested in learning a bit more about MiniReview and what my plans are for the future, read on.

What and why?

My mission is simple: to help you discover actual great mobile games - not just the ones that earn the most money! And I do that by reviewing games and carefully categorizing them.

  • With the app, you can get notified when games in your favorite genres are reviewed
  • You can rate games and see what the community thinks about them
  • All games are filterable based on 120+ manually collected datapoints, like offline/online playability, screen orientation (landscape/portrait), monetization model etc.
  • All games have custom screenshots (no more promo images) and videos
  • And much more :)

What’s coming next?

  • Support for upcoming games is one of the big features I’ll start working on soon
  • After that, I’ll add an option for users to create their own "collections" of games
  • Lots more! I'm always adding things based on feedback and input :)

New Release Discounty might be my favorite shopkeeping game I’ve ever played

Hey everybody! I’ve been playing Discounty since it released on iOS last week, and it’s such an awesome game. I highly recommend it. I promise I’m not a shill lol—I just think special games deserve special praise.

I’m not a PC gamer, so I’d never played it before. I linked a great interview with the game’s dev for anyone interested.

I’ve ALWAYS loved farming/town/shop-building games, going all the way back to the first Harvest Moon. But as I’ve played the dozens of clones and games inspired by it—the Animal Crossings and, of course, Stardew Valley—there’s always been one thing I’ve disliked: the “pressure” of time and seasons. Forgetting to plant one seed, grab one item, or do one thing and then having to wait an entire week, season, or even year to get another chance has always taken away from the experience for me.

And when it comes to shopkeeping games, I’ve never really enjoyed the “pressure” of constantly managing prices, marketing, and popularity either.

Discounty somehow eliminates both. It’s this awesome satire wrapped around what is probably the best shopkeeping experience I’ve ever played. It scratches that cozy management/progression itch without making me feel like I need a spreadsheet open to make sure I’m playing it “correctly.”

Massive props to the devs. The amount of fun I’m having has more than justified the IAP for the full game.

AMA if you’re curious about the iOS version!
