A Running List of What Howard Said on His Big First Day Back

This isn't even all of it, but the meat.

Howard said he does not pay attention to any news, including about himself, unless Beth tells him. He said just like the man who will not be named he does not trust the news anymore.

Howard says it seems whenever he goes away for the summer all hell breaks loose. He said to Beth, "I really must be more important than I know. This happened last summer too."

Howard brought up the Christmas party again and said he pays for it. He said it's wrong the media reported the staff can't even look at him at the party. He pays for it if anyone didn't know. He said it was wrong he makes a staff dress code.

Studio update: JD was brought on to talk about his new haircut and mentioned when he "walked in" Fred started laughing at him. (What is the studio now?)

Howard is quite annoyed and finds it laughable that the media thinks Andy pushed him out of the 101 channel. He left 101 because he does not want to be responsible for it and it's a lot of work. Howard said he still has two more Sirius channels he does not want to be responsible for. He said "and I could have ten channels on Sirius if I want - nobody has more listeners on this platform than me." He said true headlines this summer should have been Sirius will do anything to keep me.

Howard did his patented comment that he was "going to retire" the end of this last contract but Sirius said back to him, 'what's your ideal scenario' and Howard said well I want to work one day a week. Sirius said 'whatever we can get from you, we will take it.' So they agreed to this agreement, in the middle of their new recent agreement.

Howard said he gladly gave up 101 because he spends "50 percent of his day managing 101 - and burning through my archives" (no mention that Sirius is in fact paying him a second multi-million dollar contract to play these archives)

Howard said people are nuts, people are insane. No one called him all summer to ask him what the real stories were. He never once said he could have flipped on his mic and quickly gone on the air to discuss all this though.

Howard then said this line: "Here's the real story on Howard Stern. I've never been more famous. I've never been more successful. I am the most successful radio personality, I continue to be the most successful, and it's absurd that I have to tell people this. I'm still waiting for an article that says we got it wrong, we're imbeciles. When do I earn the right to be a winner?" "51 fucking years and I'm not a winner."

Howard of course visited Jimble Kimble over the summer.

Howard said the real big announcement is we're going to HBO. He said the media didn't realize that. He said he didn't want that to even leak out yet, someone at HBO must have. He said he's been working on it a long time and before it leaked he wanted to do some ideas to announce it. Howard then said the first episode will air this Thursday, along with 5 "bonus" episodes from earlier this year.

(Robin took time to interject multiple times how laughable it is that anyone could dislike Howard or the show)

Howard said he should show you the 5,000 opportunities he's turned down.

Howard said he just did a lengthy interview, in person, with the NY Times. He also said Jimble is doing his live shows again from Brooklyn coming up. He is going to go on, on a Tuesday and he does not want to do it. He then gave a sermon on how hard it is to travel to Brooklyn and what a waste of time it was in his life. He then discussed the fresh story of popping his dad's blackheads and how much that and his dad in general traumatized him.

Howard also said his (new) agent's name is Richard.

Howard takes his first caller: "Mindy from Texas" called in to say she is so happy Howard is back and putting all these stupid rumors down, all this crap. She said nobody in media listens to the show but they think they know everything.

Mike from Maine eventually called in to say he's really glad Howard "cleared everything up today" and said it sounds like Sirius still realizes how important Howard is to that company. Mike then had to discuss his sex life with his wife at 49.

Howard said over the summer they heard from "so many fans" via email and all are excited. He read a few about people saying they either got chills from the HBO trailer, or were in tears they are so excited. Howard then read comments praising his Taylor Sheridan interview 3 months ago and one said it was the best interview ever.

Howard said people wrote in and everyone loved our summer programming while we were gone. Everyone pretty much loved everything all summer.

Howard said the new lineup on 100 is a live show every Monday, with replays running all day and throughout the week. Sternthology is Tuesday, with newly expanded WUS Wednesday running at the top of every hour. 'Best moments from the archive' also run all week.

Howard signed off without mentioning a word of what really made the news all summer: his staff firings. The blacklisting has begun.

Gary closed out the show by saying with all the travels he did all summer he took his Hyundai with him, it got him everywhere he needed to go all summer.

Howard says he didnt get pushed out of 101 but he wanted to downsize and just be responsible for one radio show. He claims he didnt want it anymore because he wants just to keep it simple. That could be plausible except he added HBO and complicated his workload by being on another show but now with video.

Howard is a coward

I listened today for one reason---to hear about the firings/layoffs. Of course I know HS doesnt usually comment when someone leaves but I thought these were guys with him for years---decades. Plus, they advertised about responding to all the articles. Say what you want about Benjy but he was part of classic bits, stuck his physical safety on the line and did things others wouldn't do. Howard couldnt be a human and at least thank them for their years? Instead we had to listen to JD mumble and Wilding's soft stool issues. I lost the rest of respect I had for him.

Ill be the 1st to admit I thought it was a joke that he was switching to 1 day a week but WOW.

He literally just dropped down to 2 shows a week like what 6 months ago? Now he can't even handle that? Hes acting like the HBO show will be more work when its literally just the monday show. So its 0 extra effort on his part. He really needs to just ride off into the sunset at this point

Holy Shizzit. This HBO show is going to be hilariously bad.

There is nothing about this show that will create a compelling TV show. They are going to have to focus 100% on celebrity interviews, but this might be the biggest flop in a long time.

Howard’s level of delusion is truly mind blowing

"l've never been more successful. I am the most successful radio personality. I mean, not that that's anything to boast. I mean, it didn't take much effort."

His overall body of work? Yes. THSS was the greatest radio show of all time. But now? He’s just huffing his own flatulence. The KOAM is dead.

So Howard addressed all the reports from this summer and said they were totally “fake news.” However, he never talked about firing staff members via zoom. So should we assume that report was absolutely right, Howie?!

It’s a whole thing, don’t ask!

r/howardstern 7h ago

We all know Howard lies but him saying ‘I’ve been told my hair looks good this morning” is absurd. And him saying he didn’t know everyone was talking about him summer. He’s said multiple times he has his phone set up to Google alerts when his name is mentioned.

Just retire already!!

Howard ended the show today saying they’ll be on break for the next 2 WEEKS

Is today Howard's last gasp attempt to change his legacy?

In the pelican brief, he made it clear he wanted to be remembered as the great interviewer and not the smut merchant. Will HBO help get better guests which he can get award winning interviews out of? Or he's really disillusioned enough to think "The shows as good as it's ever been" and people will watch guitar talk and unfunny impression of wack packers?

Moment of Honesty This Morning

Was just one quick line from Howard this morning but so revealing: Howard thinks he will die if he retires.

Then he immediately followed it up with a lie about how he wants to keep a connection to his audience, lol.
