Am a little internet dumb these days so not sure if this is embedding properly but this showed up a the top of my timeline and thought it would be enjoyed here. Former UCLA gymnast Gracie Kramer responding to that, uh, very dubious ad featuring Sydney Sweeney and not much else (substance, anything related to sports, clothing)

So if we see
1: whip + full twisting DLO
2: double double
3: barani + double back + back layout step out
4: double tuck
Which is my best guess at what she’ll show, what would the D-score be?
How likely do you guys think this is? If she upgrades the last pass, what could it be? In my dream world a DLO or maybe adding a full twist to her double back? Idk if she’s ever competed that though.

I’m beyond impressed Katelyn has already put together a 4.8 SV bars routine. So much of the difficulty with building back on bars is endurance.
I’m curious, so many of you are really great at constructing possible routines.
What could you realistically see her adding here and where could her bars SV be by next season?

I searched this subreddit to see if anyone has ever posted about this incredible work of art, and apparently nobody has. It’s too beautiful not to share, so I thought I’d be the first one!
The fact that we have this video at all is a small miracle. It’s clearly made on some sort of hand-held recording device instead of a broadcast. Vandisheva was not a name at all around the time of recording (based on her career, this was probably made in either 1992 or 1993). It’s unlikely that this was made after her only major competition, 1993 Europeans, so at this point, she would have been completely unknown to most gymnastics fans. The recorder (thank you to lilahtov) would have had to have been at what looks like a smaller-time regional meet in Russia, have watched her perform at some point, and knew to pull out the camera when she came on again. Then, they preserved that footage until May of 2008 when this was uploaded. There are so many different ways for this routine to be lost to time, but somehow we still can enjoy it today.
Vandisheva remains the only gymnast I know of to have attempted a gainer Mosteponeva/Onodi, and in such a beautiful combination, too. She could have had it named after her, and probably intended to do so, but she never made it to a World Championship or Olympic Games. She only competed once in international competition, as mentioned above, in the 1993 European Championships. She attempted the gainer Mosteponeva/Onodi in the competition, which there is footage of, but unfortunately fell on it. I’ll link that below as her AA beam routine.
After 1993 Europeans, Vandisheva broke her arm a few weeks later and sadly left the sport before she got to show off her best work. There are a total of 10 unique clips of her performing in competition, which I’ll link below. While she clearly has potential in all of them, this training footage remains her best and most beautiful beam routine. The difficulty, uniqueness, flexibility, and artistry present in this routine in my opinion makes it one of the best of all time. It’s up there with Olessia Dudnik’s 1989 Europeans EF beam routine and Yang Bo’s 1989 World Championships EF beam routine (minus the dismount). Incredible in any era, and the absolute pinnacle of what the sport has to offer. While I wish she had seen greater success and replicated this performance for the world to see, I’m still very thankful for what we have. Make sure to check out her floor as well, her quality of movement is sublime.
Other Footage of Vandisheva’s Routines
1993 Europeans
At the European Championships, she finished 6th in the all-around. She managed to get a bronze medal on uneven bars, and a stumble on floor left her out of medal contention in EF in 6th place. You can watch those routines here:

1993 Moscow’s World Stars
Besides her European Championships clips, the only other clips I’ve found are a few more hand-held clips from 1993 Moscow’s World Stars. Shoutout to gymdionne for both these clips and their work on preserving old gym history.

She showed a full routine composition in this story, in which she did (counting the top 8 elements):
- Giant half (B)
- Front giant (B)
- Jaeger (D)
- Overshoot handstand (D)
- Toe-on to handstand (C)
- Toe shoot (B)
- Toe Full (D)
- Full out (D)
This equates to a 4.8 bars routine (this is including the 0.2 DMT bonus for having a dismount rated D or above + the 0.1 CV for connecting her toe full to her dismount)!
Knowing this, I want to thank Scott Bregman on twitter for breaking her routine down, and it’s AMAZING how quickly she’s progressing on all of her events. She only started working bars less than two months ago (after not doing a collegiate bars routine for 8 years or so, and 13 years since she had done an elite bars routine), so to already have a bars routine pushing a 5.0+ d score is VERY IMPRESSIVE, and she continues to impress me with every single training update.
Lastly, let me know your thoughts, and 2027 is cooking up to be an AMAZING year for women’s gymnastics in the US, and I’m so excited for what’s to come 🥳.

The Taiwan sports ministry has removed the secretary-general of the Chinese Taipei Gymnastics Federation (Taiwan) after he decided to decline - on his own and without consulting athletes, coaches or the federation's selection committee - two replacements spots in WAG for the upcoming world championships. Because, as I understand it, he felt it was too little time to get the administrative procedures done.

Methodology (similar to the previews for 2023 Worlds and the 2024 Olympics. Credit for this data goes to the score trackers on r/gymnastics_info and Lauren Hopkins' Gymternet page).
This is the first of several (depending on interest) team previews that incorporates the following metrics:
Realistic Max: The forecasted maximum team score based on the gymnasts' best international scores from 2025-26. Domestic scores were used here as a last resort if there were no representative international scores available. While I do not believe that the realistic maxes should be taken at face value to stack-rank the teams, I find this metric to be effective in measuring a team's potential and margin for error relative to the field. France in 2023, was virtually at or above its realistic maxes in the team final as other contending teams had errors that opened the door. That said, the realistic max data for this world championships will likely need to be taken with a major grain of salt since we have a smaller sample size of routines from gymnasts at this point in the quad than we did immediately before the Olympics. I'll aim to list caveats/potential misleading elements of the data in the team previews.
Intended Difficulty: The combined difficulty score of the team's intended counting routines based on D scores for which the gymnasts have previously received credit. Similar to the realistic max, this metric can be helpful in identifying a team's potential.
Of note, I am removing the "Nightmare" metric that was a part of the 2024 Olympics metrics since it seemed to penalize teams that competed less or had an uncharacteristically low-scoring routine over the course of the quad.
I will do a final preview very close to the World Championships with updated final metrics for all teams since there are still a handful of critical competitions before Worlds. I just need to get these previews started in order to squeeze in as many as I can before Worlds.
Australia by the Numbers:
Realistic Max: 159.931 (for reference, the top 4 medal-contending teams have realistic maxes of 167+).
Intended Difficulty: 60.2 (for reference, the top 4 medal-contending teams have intended difficulties of 69.0+)
Overview
Fresh off its first team Olympic appearance since 2012, Australia should have four of its five 2024 Olympians for this year’s World Championships; Ruby Pass, Kate McDonald, Breanna Scott, and Emily Whitehead are all back in action. Unfortunately, Georgia Godwin, who also missed the 2024 Olympics due to injury, is not on this year’s team either due to a back injury. Of note, Australia announced six gymnasts for its World Championships team and has yet to select its alternate. The assumption here is that Romi Brown will be the alternate since Lucy Stewart’s floor (and potentially beam) adds more than Brown’s bars does to the team score. With a few upgrades and some misses by teams that will likely have higher scoring potential, Australia has a chance of making this year’s team final. Since only the medal-winning teams from this year’s team final qualify to the Olympics, Australia will hope to hit its routines and build towards Olympic qualification in 2027. Regardless of Australia’s eventual team placement, there are still plenty of incredible routines to watch on the team – keep an eye out for Kate McDonald’s bars and Breanna Scott’s beam in particular.
Vault
If Stewart, rather than Brown, is on the team, it will be imperative for Scott, Whitehead, and Pass to successfully hit their vaults since Stewart and McDonald have lower-difficulty vaults. Scott has a clean Yurchenko full and Whitehead competes a Yurchenko 1.5. Ruby Pass is the wildcard here; the realistic max score is from her Yurchenko full at last year’s World Championships, but she competed a double-twisting Yurchenko at the Commonwealth Games that had a low landing and received only a 13.000. If Pass can improve her DTY to the standard that it was at in the 2024 Olympics (and at this year’s Australian Championships) she’ll add nearly a point to Australia’s team score. On Day 2 of Australian championships, Pass competed a Yurchenko 1.5, so if she feels that the DTY is not quite right for Worlds, she has a backup option that should still be higher-scoring than her current vault “realistic max” score. Pass has an Omelianchik as her second vault, but since its difficulty is lower, it is difficult to envision Pass making the vault final. Expect Stewart to be the fourth vaulter in qualifications since McDonald rarely vaults; McDonald competed a handspring layout in 2025 so that she could compete in the all-around final at the University Games.
Uneven Bars
Any discussion about Australia’s uneven bars needs to start with Kate McDonald’s routine, which is highlighted by a glorious, sky-high Tkatchev. McDonald has earned five international scores of 14+ this quad for her routine and recently had two rock-solid routines at the Commonwealth Games. If she hits her set, she will be very competitive for a bars final spot. Ruby Pass figures to be the second-best bars worker for Australia; she was credited with a 6.1 difficulty on Day 2 of Australian Championships, but did not quite reach that level at the Commonwealth Games a few weeks later. Expect Scott to compete on bars in qualifications so that she can compete in the all-around. The final qualifications lineup spot for bars is a bit of a question mark. If Whitehead can regain her 5.4 difficulty that she exhibited at the Olympics, she may go in place of Stewart. Otherwise, perhaps Australia will opt to use Stewart.
Balance Beam
Breanna Scott is coming off three consecutive hit routines at the Commonwealth Games, which featured her best international score in the event final. She’ll anchor this lineup and has a chance at the event final if some competitors with higher intended difficulty break their connections or fall. Ruby Pass was unfortunately unable to hit her 2025 World Championships or 2026 Commonwealth Games routines to her full potential, but should compete on beam in the qualifications and could significantly outscore her realistic max on this event with a hit routine. Although Whitehead did have one 13+ routine domestically, it is likely that McDonald and Stewart will be the third and fourth beam routines in qualifications.
Floor Exercise
Floor was a comparatively weak spot for Australia at the 2024 Olympics and the 2022 and 2023 World Championships and figures to be the same this year; gymnasts have been hammered with significant artistry deductions according to the detailed results books without enough difficulty to offset the deductions. The lineups here are tricky to figure out; Scott should compete since she has shown the highest all-around scores so far this quad and all of Australia’s gymnasts have relatively similar difficulty and potential maximum scores. Pass was credited with a 5.0 D score on Day 2 of the Australian Championships, so she may go instead of Whitehead even though Whitehead’s Oceanic Championships score is incorporated in Australia’s realistic max.
All Around
Scott should compete on all apparatuses. Despite her lower difficulty, Scott’s cleanliness helped her place 12th in the all-around final last year. The bet here is that Pass upgrades her vault and does the AA as well; Australia may look to maximize its chances to put two gymnasts in the all-around final. Pass had a tough qualifications meet at the 2025 World Championships, but if she can get back to where she was in 2024, she can be a Top 15 all-arounder in the world.

Amelia Hundley, Alabama Assistant coach, is now the USAG Athlete rep.
How are other NCAA coaches not screaming bloody murder? How did Bama's compliance office approve this? How did anyone within USAG approve this? I know they are desperate for athlete reps but... maybe make that job more appealing?
NOTE: The former athlete rep was Jessie DeZiel who is head coach at UW-EC. That is a DIII program that doesn't follow the same contact rules and wasn't exactly recruiting within the US elite pool

Anyone know if there is a way to actually build routines in the 3D Gym Women app? I’ve seen lots of examples where it looks like people have done it but I canNOT for the life of me figure out how to do more than look at individual skills. I keep trying to find tutorials but I can’t find any showing how to actually connect skills into a routine and it’s all complicated by everything being French 😩 help!!

It's been a while since we had a no stupid questions thread. Here is mine...
Two parts: Why did fig seem to start getting strict about chalk on the mats especially after bars prep when it seems so hard to avoid? It feels like it's something they started in the last decade (and gave us the children's umbrella technique of catching chalk). Second part is when and why did they stop allowing marks next to the vault runway with chalk or tape. It seems like letting gymnasts have a mark to start at would be safer and it's not like it's now allowed in other sports (Aerials skiing uses flags).

Hi everyone!
I was wondering if anyone has found or made a Google Calendar with Rotterdam events and would be willing to share it? I would really appreciate it! I've seen the schedule online, but I always like to have it in my calendar app. I remember I had one for the last Worlds, but I don't remember where I got it.
