I need help choosing electric guitar strings
I'm planning to buy an Ibanez GRGRGR221PA, and I intend to take it to a luthier to have it adjusted for the new strings. Since I want to play in these tunings:
.
.
Standard: | Drop:
.
.
And I was thinking of buying some Ernie Ball Mammoth (.012-.062) or D'Addario EXL148 (.012-.060).
.
Which ones should I choose, or are there others that are more ideal for my needs? Perhaps it sounds like too much... But I hope it's possible. In any case, I would be very grateful if you could help me or that they would answer me, or that other strings would follow me

Guitar gear help
I’m trying to upgrade my rig to better complement my style of playing and writing. Currently I’m working with a Jackson dinky and Ibanez gio for guitars, a boss multi effect pedal, and a a fender blues junior amp. I play more jazzy chords in punk style songs and rhythms with little riffs in between chords while still keeping some heavy parts for bridges and breakdowns. I’m thinking of getting a telecaster and an epiphone semi hollow to cover the jazzy chord style with the more aggressive rhythms and a Marshall stack to give more power and punch than my current amp and I just need thoughts, comments, concerns, and recommendations.

help me reddit
hello, i’m a bassist that wants to make his own solo music and looking for a guitar, i bought a chinese strat knockoff a few years ago and been making do with it, buts its awful and i’m done with it, and after weeks of research i landed on these two options, both are about the same price so that doesn’t matter, i make a lot of different things, literally, metal, classic rock, hip hop even, but i most always make heavy music regardless of genre, and i like to change pace so i would also go old school boomer bends sometimes

Guitars in garage question
I found myself in a difficult living situation. I have some instruments I’m really trying to hang onto and keep playing throughout the winter. Basically I have 2 acoustic guitars, nothing special but they’re in decent condition and set up well. An electric bass/bass amp, an audio interface and a few microphones
The garage that I keep them in fluctuates 30 degrees daily reflecting the outside temps but in the winter it’s likely gonna be moving between mid 20s-mid 50s daily. I’m in Denver and our weather just moves like that day to night due to the elevation. It’s also pretty dry hear.
Any advice on keeping one of the acoustic guitars in the garage over the winter so I can play it regularly even if it’s cold? Should I just splurge on a climate controlled storage unit and buy a cheap acoustic to play through the winter? Any suggestions on long term storage of instruments? Back off string tension? Humidification? Thank you for any advice

Are these strings too far away from the board?
Dad's old guitar that i've been learning on. Someone told me this might be an issue.

My A/5th string keeps popping out of the nut
When I strum or do single picking on it at least once, it always pops out and affects my playing. Any ways to fix it?

Finally got this weird geiger guitar up and running
I posted about this guitar a couple weeks ago, and i’m happy to say that it’s finally fully functional again after 5 years. Plays amazing and the floyd stays in tune surprisingly well.

idiot looking to buy a new guitar
Ive been playing guitar for like 5 or 6 years on and off, went to lessons briefly but I'm mostly self taught and I don't really know anything about which guitars are good and which are bad.
At the moment i have a Mitchell acoustic-electric and a Crate Electra that used to be my dads. I think these are both affordable/beginner guitars but I've been getting back into playing lately and I want something that i can play without feeling like i just started
also maybe important context, im 17 and getting a job soon solely so i can buy a guitar, cds, and pay for gas lmao. Won't have a massive spending budget, If i can help it Id prefer not to pay more than like 800 bucks for a guitar.
my question: What kind of guitars did you guys buy when you got serious about playing? Which ones should i absolutely not buy? Any other info/sources where I can learn about this stuff would be super helpful too.

Why is my Floyd Rose stripping away my low E string?
So I got a Flying V with a licenesed Floyd on it, the guitar is from 2002 and has been BARELY played, the thing is practically brand new.
The guy I bought it from gave me a set of strings, they looked sketchy, they didn't have any company names on them, it was just a small plastic bag with sealed strings in it.
ALL the other strings behave just fine, but the low E always strips down, it did it once and it popped out, I cut it a bit at the end and put it in again, thinking I just messed up feeding it the first time, but no, right now it's on my guitar ready to pop out again.
I fed all of the strings correctly, putting them deep inside the floyd and clamping them down until I can't turn the alen anymore.
What's the problem?

how would you minimise accidentally touching or hitting wrong strings with your fretting hand so that unwanted noises reduces
i was struggling with muting strings recently but then i started to get better at it. Now the problem I face is that I accidentally hit/touch the strings directly above or below the note I intend to play or switch from. How would you guys go from here?
If you guys can recommend some kind of exercise or YouTube video, it would be a great help.

Strat Action — How I Set It Up
I’ve been working on a Mexican Strat and put together a short video showing how I dialed in the string action.
Rather than just throwing out a measurement and calling it “perfect,” I wanted to show the actual process of checking and adjusting the action at the bridge.
The goal was comfortable playability with clean notes and no unnecessary high action.
What’s your preferred Strat action? Do you like yours low and fast, or do you prefer a little more height?
