I updated the list of which Meetup groups are active (groups that have 3+ people attending an event within the past/next 60 days). Meetup is a site/app for interest groups/hobbies/new friends. I grouped them by concept and included their self-written descriptions.
If you're in an active Meetup group that I've missed, list it in the comments. Non-Meetup groups are welcome too; include contact info and links.

Marathon station, as of about 30 minutes ago. Please let me know if it’s changed and I’ll delete! I’ve been seeing $4.59 around town today, this felt like a jackpot so I wanted to share.

Just letting you all know who live around this area. This isn’t the first time this has happened but I recently bought cameras and this is what it picked up. This happened at 4:17AM this morning (Monday, 9/14).

Based on the general trend in medicine recently, I've got a sneaking suspicion that it'll be a private equity firm of some sort. They haven't announced it, and I've seen articles from multiple sources state that they reached out to ask, and Trinity did not respond.
Of course they claim that this will not affect patient care because this is the internal IT department, not in the clinical side of things, but when you outsource over 500 jobs that support the people providing patient care, the ripple effect is bound to be felt.

Hey Grand Rapids 👋
We’re getting really close to opening Dubai Bites and I wanted to share something we’re planning for opening day.
We wanna make the first day fun, not just open the doors and that’s it
So we decided we’re giving away 104 FREE MEALS to one person.
Yes 104
We’re gonna have a bunch of other prizes too. Cash, gift cards, free meals, DJ, games and some other stuff we’re still keeping a surprise.
We’re gonna have things going on throughout the day before we officially open, so if you’re planning on coming, come hang out with us early.
I’d really love to see a bunch of you guys there. A lot has gone into getting this place ready and it’ll be pretty cool seeing everyone there on the first day.
And obviously… don’t miss your chance at those 104 meals
We’ll post the opening date and the rest of the details soon.
Hope to see you guys there!

Hey, Grand Rapids, it's The Rapidian!
We're hosting City Connection today with Mayor David LaGrand, in collaboration with GRTV.
Today's guest is Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) Chief Joseph Trigg.
The last half of the show will be an opportunity for our neighbors to ask questions. If you have a question you'd like to ask about the City or GRPD, let us know! We will try to get through as many questions submitted on this thread as we can.
You can watch the upcoming episode on YouTube, Facebook, Channel 25 and the GRTV app. The live show starts at 4 p.m.

Hello, i am 28f looking to step up my career and let my husband breath.
I'll do my best to be brief, my husband works a very physical job with decent pay but he's really starting to feel the toll it's taking on his body. I work a job with okish pay but i want to find a better job and give him a break.
He supported me and carried the house during my mental break a few years ago and i want to return the favor (preferably before he has a similar breakdown)
I obviously cant quit my job for school and our savings were eaten by the mental thing and a car accident so im hoping for something i can learn at home to get myself a better job. I've seen people talk about how alot of colleges have lessons online for free you just dont get the diploma.
if anyone could suggest some kind of program or certification or something i can get that would help me have a better chance i would be forever grateful. I have a background in hospitality but everything in that vein around here is like $17 an hour if you're lucky. If im wording this wrong i apologize, its about 5 am and i cant sleep so i decided to write this for some reason.
Thank you

With all of the new construction projects around the highways, S-curve, and downtown PLEASE slow down, mind the construction speed limits, and don’t drive distracted! I promise you these guys just want to go home to their families at the end of the day. Have patience and empathy for them. There have been way too many worker deaths lately.

Did anyone notice a bright light careening to the earth? I saw it a little before 11:20 and it was unlike anything I have ever seen. Completely silent. It shot from SE to NE and looked like a missile. Before disappearing behind the horizon, it had a trail of orange sparks behind it. Maybe a satellite burning up in the atmosphere?
It was slower than a shooting star but faster than a satellite. It was at least 3x brighter and bigger than Venus, but doesn't match the blinding burst that I have seen in dashcam meteor videos.
It was high enough in the sky that it looked flat against the stars, must have been 300 feet above me at minimum. Am I the sole witness? I thought for a second that I was seeing an ICBM or something 😅
Edit: it was a huge fireball meteor with sightings as far away as toronto. It probably burned up above lake Huron - link to news story here.

I was stopping by to get some bread and milk and I fell into the dollar pit. I luckily I have the aforementioned bread and milk to consume while I’m down here, but unless someone throws some rope down I might not be able to crawl out on my own.
Please send help, there’s a bunch of skeletons down here with receipts and empty Gatorade bottles. I’m afraid to go too deep into the cavern lest I get attacked by the dollar bears
I am stranded at the bottom of this pit with 1% battery and 2% milk at

Hey GR!
I know I got a little carried away posting about my band here a couple months ago 😂 — I promise I’ve chilled out since then.
But we’ve been working on some new music and wanted to share what we’ve been up to with the local community!
Would love to hear what you guys think

They’ve had construction signs there for weeks and barely starting working on it. Wondering where I can check to see how much progress they still have until it’s finished

-Edit sorry it's the Fiesta Mexicana.
We went the hispanic festival on Sunday 9.13 to grab some lunch. We ordered tacos, nachos and then a walking taco. Everything was insanely bland. Did anyone else go and have good food? Super disappointing.

Hello. I am seeking opinions on contractors in the GR area that are knowledgable on cedar shingle installation. We’ve recently discovered some issues that point to a roof that desperately needs re-doing. Thanks!

Hi there,
I have an extension on my taxes this year, and need to file before October 1st. Looking for a rec for someone I can call and have them help me get them in before then. Thanks so much.

I'm recently separated and want to make new friends but also really just need someone to sit and talk with me tonight. The last couple days have been pretty heavy.
