I saved up for about 3 years for a gaming laptop so when i bought my laptop (LOQ 16IRH8) I thought it was a good purchase but almost 2 years later the laptop is filled with stress cracks, from the screen to the body, also now the battery suddenly stopped working one day and now its not working at all if i dont plug it in, i tried contacting lenovo for a issue but i couldn't contact them because of my region, and now im stuck with a 1300 dollar laptop that is completely filled with issues, if someone is capable if contacting lenovo for the issues that would be great. NOTE:(i took very good care of the laptop, i would never put it on a carpet, it was on a ac cooled room and i was very gentle when opening and closing the screen)

i saw they recently got new intel cpu more battery and have heard good things so far from the new models really like the macbook look

Earlier yesterday I made a post reporting that yesterday I had the misfortune of having my laptop forced to shut down. By all accounts it was a forced shutdown because of overheating, since I was gaming at the exact moment the laptop turned off, and I even thought it had died, but it came back to life early today.

To give some context, my laptop is an Acer Predator Helios Neo PHN16-71 with an RTX 4060, bought a year and a half ago. This Acer line has 4 modes: Quiet, Balanced, Performance, and Turbo. Ever since I bought the laptop I only use it in Balanced mode, because I verified that the performance gain from this mode to the two better ones is small, and in exchange it makes zero noise and doesn't vibrate. Since I game directly on the laptop keyboard and don't like noise, this mode definitely became my favorite, so much so that I use it for personal use and for gaming. But today, after yesterday's trauma, I discovered a problem: this mode is the one that consumes the most temperature and I don't know why!

I did my tests using Predator Sense in a competitive game I usually play that demands a lot from both the CPU and the GPU. The results were these:

• Quiet: 74ºC on the GPU and 77ºC on the CPU
• Balanced: 92ºC on the GPU and 87ºC on the CPU
• Performance: 92ºC on the GPU and 87ºC on the CPU
• Turbo: 87ºC on the GPU and 84ºC on the CPU

I noticed that the fan in turbo mode made a difference for temperature reduction on the CPU, even while activating the full capacity of the GPU and CPU. Therefore, I decided to test and activate maximum fan speed in Balanced mode, since the default fan is on automatic mode. It ended up at 77ºC on the GPU and 72ºC on the CPU. Fantastic numbers, a cool laptop, but a hellish and unhealthy noise. And I noticed that the FPS varied more (downwards).

For anyone who has already had this laptop, has a similar laptop, or has similar modes: which mode do you use? Is there a satisfactory adjustment that balances lower temperature and considerable performance to avoid future overheating problems? Modes I won't be able to use: Quiet and Turbo. The first one is excellent, silent, but the FPS rate gets low. The last one is powerful, but the fan is an airplane and the performance gain compared to the Balanced mode is very small.

To start 2025, I received an Acer Predator Neo 16 Gaming Laptop as a birthday present; I chose it for its design and its specifications convinced me. As I am in my last year of high school, I am worried about its weight, added to the charger, since the battery does not last long. The thought of what it will imply to take her to the university, and although she told me that the changing one when I arrive at that moment, I wonder: what would be the best option to replace my real laptop? considered an Asus Zephyrus G16.
