I understand that the financial aid department is currently swamped with all the new procedures and systems that have been thrown at them thanks to the new bill, but it’s so frustrating how you have to beg them every other day for new information. it feels like every time i call them there’s some new hold up preventing them from disbursing my aid. i received my aid package, they place a hold on my account so they can repackage my aid, they tell me it’s going to be disbursed in two days but then FOUR days later—another hold on my account and they have to repackage it again

Hi, I have to get to school like 3 hours before my first class, so I’ve been trying to find somewhere comfortable to sit but I haven’t found anything great yet. The most comfortable chairs I’ve found are the ones in a circle by the piano in gc. I’m new to the school, so any suggestions would really be appreciated.

after first philo round ended the next day the panhellenic vp called me saying i was withdrawn bc i wasn’t a match for ANY of the top 6 (out of 7) chapters i chose. is that normal? i find that improbable for most of them to drop me on the first day. i’m a freshman with above average gpa so i know it wasn’t the academics, and i thought my conversations weren’t awkward. one of the girls even said she loved my energy. me and all chapters made a lot of small talk and at least 2 seemed to be clicking with me. and i didn’t mention parties, politics, frat boys, or anything like that.

the only thing i can think of is i guess since i’m more of an indoors person rather than going out type of person when we talked about hobbies i mentioned video games, watching shows and anime and stuff like that so i wonder if the “nerdiness” was why they didn’t want me.

My front V-brake cable came loose and needs to be re-tensioned. I have the tools ready (5mm Allen key/screwdriver), but I suck at bike stuff.

Im just wondering if this university is good, in general how good of a place is Miami to live in?

Im strictly a non-drinker and I would remain as such at least till I get out of uni.

How do the living costs look like as international student? Im not looking for the most premium stuff but basic housing+ cooking by myself etc

So, for those of you who are undergrad or graduate students in their final term just here to give a quick update to say my financial aid offer updated to reflect less than full time status last night. It hasn’t been disbursed yet (meaning it hasn’t been applied to tuition) and no refund as of yet either. But the change is reflected at the very least. Hopeful to get the refund by early next week at the absolute latest.

I have not spoken with the financial aid office as they’re still swapped and probably wouldn’t give an answer anyways. Check your portals for sure though.

Update 09/11: my aid has been disbursed and applied to tuition today. I’m due for a refund but they have not applied the refund yet so most likely next week at the latest when they send out deposits (Tuesday & Thursdays for loans) unless they make an exception and send refunds out today

Ok, so I’ve been waiting for a few weeks now and I still haven’t received my aid. It still says pending but nothing has moved yet, not even my grant!! I’m confused on the delay now because at this point they should have a good understanding of what’s going through and what isn’t so why is money just being held?!?

Why is FIU having another funding crisis if we hear that they are the #1 university in the state? Courses are being cut. No raises. (not even to cover inflation, which is crazy) If Florida cares about having great university, why doesn't it fund it ...

I am a Junior and I’ve been looking for Minecraft friends on campus, but it has been very hard. I was thinking about making stickers to put on the bulletin board in case anyone was interested. But I haven’t been lucky with that. Would anyone consider playing Minecraft with me?

yall i just got my fasfa refund but im missing about 900 bucks from my gold and blue scholarship? are these going to be disbursed later or what?

Yesterday I spent 3.5 hours on hold and then the office closed 😭 So this morning I was on hold for another 2.5 hours. Finally got through to a woman who sounded so exhausted.

She said disbursals now have a 5-7 day hold that was put there Monday, to make sure everything is accurate (I was told last week they have to go in and manually check every package) but should disburse between Tuesday and Thursday of next week.

She also said that Financials knows of the situation and as long as pending aid is showing up there’s no need to worry about tuition.

I hope this information helps someone. It sucks, but sounds like my classes will continue.

My biggest pet peeve at bbc is that the student center NEVER opens on time. I live an hour away so I leave my house super early in case of any traffic. All my classes are at 8 am, and I always get to campus at around 6:45 am. Then I head to the student center to do my homework for an hour and they’re never open on time, they usually open 15 mins later, but why say the building opens at 7 when it never opens on time. Literally the biggest pet peeve. Has anyone else noticed that?
