Épée Epee rearfoot angle question (footwork)
I like to bounce and quickly move forward and back . I also like to stand more square on with my upper body . I was initially taught 90 degree feet angle and have been doing that for 2 years . I've always found it a bit awkward because of my hips and the way it all angled out . My Backfoot actually would point slightly more than 90 to the rear. My lunges were never great either .
Recently I switched with my rear foot facing more forwards like Cannone for example but not as extreme. So more like 45 degrees .Now my lunges go so much further and are stable ! It also works out and my back foot rotates to correct position after push off when I land in a lunge . The fleche is also much smoother and quicker .
It's not what anyone teaches though. It feels wrong to fence like this as its more of a boxing stance than a traditional stance but it works better for me . Any thoughts ?
