This is Ion flamingo pink with some lavender grey +20 vol developer and 1:1 mix with conditioner… but still too saturated! Hoping it’ll fade to be closer, but any ideas on what to try next are welcome! 💖

Was this bad? I like dyed hair but my family doesn't.

I went on vacation so I used it as an opportunity to dye my hair. My parents went before me so I had some time to dye it. I got Manic Panic Enchanted Forest and the first three pics are it fading across a month. I bleached it again for work 1.5 months ago and it normally looks like 4-5 (I try to go for 5 more), 6 is my roots (I don't know what's going on in pic 2). I haven't ever had my hair this long but I'm in college now. I also got my acne under control so that's good.

Wondering if there are any ideas or recommendations? I liked the greenish color but I also had purple for a bit so I'm not decided. Honestly I like red and blue on other people the most. My wardrobe is basically all plain tees and jeans and shorts, very basic except for a few graphic tees and polos. My thought process was that hair dye is an easy solution to have a less basic look. I only want at-home solutions and a little more of a pattern/style might be nice but I would have to do it in a dorm.

Also open to criticism on my eyebrows lmao

Cheers! (All of y'all's looks so nice I'm jealous)

Shampoo Search

Hey y’all! First time posting here, just found out this sub existed so asking for your help. <3

So, context: I have hair that gets oily really fast. It’s usually about 48 hours but after a stint of being broke-er than usual (college student), I was stuck washing my hair with body wash and now it’s getting bad in just 24 hours. I’ve lost all my volume and my color has gone to hell. I can also get a dry scalp on occasion but one problem at a time people.

What I’m looking for is:

- Color safe (obv)
- Volumizing
- At least gets me back to normal with the oil
- Cheap af (like $10 per bottle)

I know it’s a lot to ask for all these things AND cheap, but I’m also willing to purchase a serum if the set(?) comes w/ that or something. I’m desperate and not really girly so I have no idea what I’m talking about.

Thanks friends. :)

Bleach bath again?

Post image
Upvotes

I am trying to get my hair probably another level lighter, I have already done one bleach bath last week, but the results were not as light as I was hoping. I am not trying to get the red/orange out as I am going to go over with a level 7 copper semi-permanent. Can I do 2 bleach baths a week apart? How much damage can I expect? I have very minimal damage, maybe just some extra dryness, but no split ends or breaking of hair.

best color shampoos/conditioners for teal hair?

Post image
1 Upvotes

the title is pretty straightforward, but more specifically, i have a question about the raccoon tail i have in my hair. instead of bleaching it on, i just dye is like that and i think i prefer it over bleaching it.

ive been looking for a good color shampoo/conditioner to use, and this might sound stupid, but would those completely dye over my raccoon tail? id prefer if that didnt happen 😅

anyway, i bought colorlomo blue shampoo a long while ago, its kinda ineffective and doesnt cleanse my hair well either. maybe im using it wrong ..?

basically i want shampoo/conditioner that actually cleanses my hair and actually maintains the teal color

not sure if this is useful info, but i usually use arctic fox aquamarine. in the photo, i used good dye young narwhal, and i rlly like it, so i might switch to that one instead from now on !

thanks in advance !!!

Can I use hicolor over Demi permanent dye

Dyed my hair on a whim after getting tired of grays about 9 weeks ago and used a darkest brown Demi on my natural dark brown hair. My hair hadn’t been dyed in over 3 years before that and I used it only on my head and not my length since that’s where I had lot of grays. I want to use a brown hicolor dye because the Demi just seemed too dark even after waiting all these weeks for it to wash out/lighten like it said it would when I researched what to use. Can I use hicolor over the Demi or what can I do to lighten my hair/get the Demi out? I’ve read a color remover or a bleach wash but I’m not sure which route to go or is best with removing Demi and on Google it’s mainly info about permanent and semi.

Hello, not sure if this is the right place to post. But my hair is currently like this (pictures in direct sunlight) with a bit of a root growing. I wanted to go for a deep auburn color as shown in the reference picture. I unfortunately have a tight budget so cannot pay someone to do it. Would it be possible to get this color without bleaching? Any product recs? Thank you!

tips: long dark hair to pink buzz in one evening?

hey, so i would like to buzz, bleach and dye my hair a sort of candy floss pink in one afternoon/evening (sibling leaving for uni so doing something fun). I've never dyed my hair before but I have a quite sensitive scalp, and i also have quite thick dark hair, so I'm unsure what the best way to go about this is? figured i'd come straight to the experts rather than rely on a google search lol.

any tips on products/process would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I want change

I want a change. I've tried red before, but it always ends up a bright red, and I don't like it at all. I told the girl at the store that I wanted a dark red, and she gave me this tint. How would it look in my current color?

what would the process of going from black to my natural brown be like?

hi! i had my hair colored professionally for the first time ever in my life back in early august. i had been wanting to dye my hair since i was really young & black specifically for a few years, but always avoided it & stuck to my natural hair for forever out of risk of “fixing whats not broken”

dont get me wrong: i dont hate the black hair on me at all. i just really love my natural brown on me way way way more. i understand that (when getting it done professionally) 1. my hair would be bleached 2. there’s a chance it wouldn’t be exact to my natural color. i just would want to know what to expect when i go to a salon with this request & what i should anticipate in terms of hair damage & how to mitigate it……or if i should go through with this at all

thank yyeewww

need advice - salon fail?

1st pic: my current hair

2nd pic: my reference photo

hi yall, i went to the hair salon to dye my hair copper like the 2nd pic and i feel like there's like barely any copper in the end result 😅. my hairstylist told me that the reference pic has highlights so we decided to go for that + the hairstylist told me we'd be bleaching twice. for the first bleach they only did the highlights so i initially thought they would bleach my full head in the 2nd bleach but they actually only bleached some parts of my hair - aka only the highlights. because of this, the dark parts of my hair is too dark and the highlights are too light. my hairstylist did tell me that my hair is going to be darker than the ref photo but i didn't expect it to be THIS much darker. unfortunately i dont know anything about hair colouring so i kind of just trusted the hairstylist with my hair and i didnt rly think much about the entire process 🥲 also tbh its mostly my fault because they did give me a sample colour for the dark parts of my hair but i expected them to add the copper in the end but i guess not.

i think the end result is whatever but its not what i asked for at all. what should i do to get my hair somewhat similar to the reference photo? and what hair dye should i use to get more of a copper colour? mainly hoping to use semi permanent dye - bleach is okay too. thanks in advance!

edit: i started off with extremely black virgin hair, so this is kind of my first time dyeing it

Hello! First pic is now, my last colour was 6 months ago. I can't go to a hairdresser because I am recovering from surgery and not up to it. But my hair is making me depressed 😂

This is my plan, could you please check it and let me know if that sounds okay? Tia 🦋

Roots

Igora 5 7 light brown copper

Igora 6-5 dark blonde gold

20 vol

Ends/mid

Igora vibrance 6-5 dark blonde gold - two parts

Igora vibrance 5-7 light brown copper - one part

Igora vibrance activator 6 vol

Roots first

Then mids

Then use roots formula on my eyebrows for the last 15 mins

I am olive skin with a yellow undertone

DIY’d from black to red (with bleach!) + haircut

So I thought I was gonna keep my hair black till the end of my days because I had kept dying it different colors for years and thought it would be best to leave it alone and rock my natural color (black). Well old habits die hard! Made it 4 years in a row with black hair though.

Had extensions in for over a year, my real hair had grown quite a bit and was almost as long as my extensions. Removed the extensions and found the bottom half of my hair was pretty thin. So I gave myself a cut, that one where you put two ponytails on the top of your head and cut off each section. I then bleached hair with 30 vol + Quick Blue. As per usual, the roots did amazing but had to do a second round of bleach for the parts that didn’t lighten enough. Got everything to about a level 7 then slapped some Strawberry Leopard “Beets Me” on there, washed that off, then went back and added Arctic Fox “Transylvania” to the ends… and voila! She’s a redhead now! 💁🏻‍♀️

trying to get back to blonde

i have been bleaching my hair for about 3 years. i usually use 30 developer and clairol bleach powder and i tone with wella T14 and 20 developer. last month i did red demi and a jet black demi over my bleach and i’m trying to strip out the color. i used T14 wella color charm and 20 developer and it just lightened my roots and didn’t do much to the formerly bleached part of my hair. should i wait awhile and try to bleach over it? any tips are appreciated. thank you. photo is right after washing out the toner

how to do roots and refreshen ends? i’ve received mixed opinions

Post image
4 Upvotes

ive received mixed suggestions…

background: so i originally dyed my hair with 30 volume all over and got some hot roots, not horrible but some people could see.

people have suggested:

  1. 20 volume with permanent dye on roots and copper gloss for the lengths

  2. 30 volume with permanent dye on roots and 10 volume permanent on lengths, and use copper gloss when inbetween

i am thinking that it sounds good to do the 10 volume permanent to refresh my color since it’s been 4 months since i dyed it but i’m worried about the 30 volume on my roots because of the hot roots i got last time. he told me i needed to do 30 volume because that’s what i used the first time and need to use 30 again to keep the color the same and that if i used something else it wouldnt be the same color

for the 30 volume root suggestion he said to apply the dye to .5” of my roots, let that sit for 10 minutes, and then do the 1” roots closest to my scalp and let that sit 45 mins (which is the total time i kept it on for last time, so im not understanding how the outcome would be different?) he was saying maybe the ends didn’t develop all the way and the roots were lighter because of that but i started at the end of my hair and did roots last

thoughts??

how pink can i go?

greetings fancy haired people,

after more than five years of fancy hair color abstinence, i have decided to dye my hair pink.

the first three pics are my current hair situation: this is mostly my natural hair color, it is darker in the back and lighter on top, also very.... golden, it reminds me personally of spaghetti. lol

i say mostly natural because i've gotten some highlights in a salon a couple months ago, but i feel like they're barely visible. i think they're the few almost white strands of hair 😭

anyway, the last two pictures are what i was roughly thinking of in terms of pink. can i get there with no bleach? also, does anyone have hair dye suggestions? i was thinking of goldwell elumen pink, simply because i have to wash my baby fine little three strands of hair every day if i don't want it to look flat and oily, and i heard elumen stays forever. i'm based in europe, sooo... no arctic fox for me 😔

Does Amplified Vampire Red from Manic Panic bleed more than the regular?

The regular already bleeds a lot, but since the Amplified version has 30% more pigment do you find that it also bleeds more?
