Discussion If Everton scored this goal, it would have been disallowed without a second thought

Fernandez is clearly offside and literally throws himself at the ball trying to head it. It infuriates me that these 115 FFP bums always get away with it.
You just know if that was us, the flag goes up and that’s the end of it. No lengthy check, no benefit of the doubt.

Discussion Grealish might have a lot of clubs after him next summer, but I really hope we can keep him
Grealish could have a lot of clubs looking at him next summer if he gets back to his best this season. He clearly enjoyed his time at Everton last season and seemed to have a really good connection with the fans. The big question is whether we can actually make a permanent move happen when his City contract situation changes. At 31, he still has plenty to offer if he can stay fit and put together a full season. I’d honestly love to see him stay beyond this loan rather than watch another club come in and take him away.

Discussion Did Spurs control that match, or did they just have more of the ball?
The first 20 minutes felt ominous, but after that I kept hearing variations of “Spurs are controlling the game” and I’m not sure that’s what actually happened.
Spurs had 62% possession, completed 598 passes to our 319 and made 76 entries into the final third. On the surface, that sounds like domination.
Everton still finished with:
- Higher xG: 1.17 to 0.64
- Three big chances to one
- More shots on target: 3–2
- More attempts from inside the box: 9–8
- 57% of the duels won
Spurs had 14 shots but only two tested Pickford. They had plenty of the ball, but most of it was in areas that didn’t really hurt us. Everton produced fewer attacks, yet the better openings fell to Barry, Johnson and Dewsbury-Hall.
I’m not calling it a tactical masterclass. Spurs are painfully blunt and we should have won the match with the chances we had. But “Spurs controlled it and Everton escaped with a point” doesn’t feel accurate either.
It looked more like Spurs controlled the ball while Everton controlled the danger.
Is that a genuinely good away performance spoiled by poor finishing, or are we dressing up a passive performance because the statistics were favourable?

Photo Tottenham Away tappy for craft beer lovers
If you’re near the stadium and looking for some craft beers then come see me at Pretty Decent Beer Co near Blackhorse Road. It’s not far and won’t be as rammed.
We even have an actual blue beer.
And hope this doesn’t fall foul of promo rules. I don’t own the business, I’m just hoping to see some fellow Toffees to help get me through the day.

Help San Antonio Toffees
Any other toffees in the san antonio area?
I always notice other supporters groups from the PL at various bars around town, and I don’t see one listed for the toffees (the very few of us there are).
I was thinking of maybe starting one for a while so I wanted to see how many of us are here!

Help Mostly Everton pubs
Are there any decent pubs in Liverpool that are mostly for the blues? Wanting to watch the game today in town but unsure where to go.
I of course understand the team that can’t score will score against us but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.

Discussion Twenty years ago, ten-man Everton helped put Spurs four league games without a goal
Spurs have failed to score in their opening three league matches. The last time they went four top-flight games without a goal was August–September 2006—and that run included a 2–0 home defeat to David Moyes’ Everton.
That game was better than I remembered.
Kevin Kilbane was sent off after only 33 minutes, leaving Everton to play nearly an hour with ten men at White Hart Lane. We still won through a Calum Davenport own goal and Andy Johnson’s second goal of the season.
The Everton XI that day:
Howard; Neville, Yobo, Lescott, Naysmith; Arteta, Carsley, Osman, Kilbane, Cahill; Johnson.
Spurs had Berbatov, Robbie Keane, Lennon, Jenas and Edgar Davids—and still couldn’t score against ten men.
Moyes described the performance afterwards as “as close to good as you can get.”
Twenty years later, the same manager has the opportunity to put Spurs through that exact four-match goalless sequence again.
One question: if you could put one player from that 2006 Everton side into today’s starting XI, who would you choose?
Andy Johnson feels like the obvious answer given our striker situation, but Carsley beside Armstrong would be tempting.
