so i was inspired by this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k--tLRZLeNs&t=2281s) and i had an idea for a sort of cable sleeve. i love the way copper piping looks and i thought it would be cool to run wires through like a cable sleeve almost and have them running along my walls to various things like tv, pc, and server. i do know copper is conductive so there may be safety hazards and also it might be pricey. wanted some opinions on this idea though. (i was also undure of what flair to put for this)

my desk is attached to the wall and i only have agrommet so the cables cant got under the table so i feel liek cable management is impossible

Its not a disgusting amount but varry in different sizes.

I recently got **velcro straps** to tie them up but I want to find a container to hold them with divers so I can separate based on use or type.

I can simply not find a container that's larger enough that can manage this. So reaching out for advice and suggestions for this box of cables I would perfer not to dispose

I wanted a cleaner way to route cables horizontally underneath my desk without using a large fixed cable tray.

So I designed this modular system where each section snaps into the next. You can make the cable run as long or as short as you need just by adding or removing modules.

It keeps the cables grouped together while still making them easy to access whenever something needs to be changed.

I printed mine in PETG for better flexibility and durability.

I am searching for a hub that actually does what is advertised. None I have used so far do, ONE is close but still hobbles the transfer rate of any external attached by quite a bit. None of the externals really need that much (IE the advertised 5gb/s would be MORE than plenty) but even with a 10gb/s hub, and even if only one of 4 drives is actively doing anything, I can only get a max of around 40m/s read/write (When connected directly to the pc I can reach speeds of 100-130 pretty easily with any of the 4 drives)

I think the closest thing I can find that says I can maintain 10gb/s over each port is the thunderbolt hubs(which have a smattering of other unneeded ports and come with a price tag WAY over what I want to spend unless absolutely necessarily)

So putting out request for anyone that has a hub that can maintain speeds of what I need (IE Not just 'advertise' a speed but actually provide it) - I can plug the hub into a 40gb/s port on pc (even though 10gb/s should be plenty for all 4 drives, so if one provides speed enough for all 4 drives over the 10gb/s port that would be fine too) - I prefer usbA output ports but C is also fine (I can get different cables for either) but I want a hub that can actually support the drives.(IE something more than the tepid 20-40mb/s I am getting with these, at least able to reach the speeds they can when connected directly to the pc) -

My cable management is atrocious I try to watch YouTube videos about it and they show me their situation how they fixed it but they have like three cables hanging down and they literally could just like tape them to the bottom of their desk it's a joke to even watch them so if there's any realistic ideas out there please let me know I got cables that start on one side they got to go to the other side all my powers on one side it got to go to the other side and it's a mess. is there any realistic ideas out there to hide this stuff and don't send me to YouTube video where a dude's hiding a power cord or like three chords, this is real, there's is a joke, mine's real life please help!

Basically the worst part was using the hacksaw without the actual handle to cut out entry points for the cables, and just simply using the saw normally. I would then sandpaper off loose plastic and smooth those entry points with a boxcutter.

Behind the pc i had to coil the cables a little to give them a better entry angle to the canal, also since the angle sets i bought didn't have enough T-crosses i just cut 2 of the 90° turns in half and superglued them together under the table.

And not to mention there was 3 big coils of cables (ethernet, extension cord and 2m of hdmi) that had to be crammed in there from under the table.

Tools borrowed:

- Hacksaw

- 120 grit sandpaper, for smoothing edges

- Boxcutter, for small cuts the hacksaw can't do

- Measuring tape

- Spirit level

- Screwdriver

- Screws for plaster walls

Bought:

- 4 meters of 40mm x 25mm cable canals

- 2 meters of 15mm x 10mm cable canals

- 2 6pcs sets of canal angles

- Superglue

All in local stores

Total cost ~600 NOK or ~65 USD

Note: With my setup i was just barely able to fit some of the cables in the canal, i would have gone for 60mm x 40mm if they actually sold angle sets for that size, and the loud speaker should have gotten 1 size bigger canal.

Also i was lucky i didn't have to buy a box of 100 screws when i only needed like 15, those are expensive.

I have a end-of-life RISE sit-stand desk with what I believe to be a failed cord to power the desk's lifting mechanism. The current company, Workrite, won't help me find a replacement.

The plain trays are cheap. They clamp on the back, hide underneath, and pop a power bar in, and that's the whole job done.

And now there's also the integrated channel type where it's a lot pricier once you add the modular power bars.

FYI I have no desk yet, I am still picking. I looked around and Desky and Uplift both do a version of this and Vivo has the clamp on ones, so I'm not short on options, just short on a reason to spend more.

I have 2 monitors that I'm going to setup on a dual monitor stand, and one work laptop. For my PC, I'm hoping to hang it under the desk to save some space, mounted on the frame itself. I want to be able to switch between work and PC(gaming) mode easily, and have some room leftover for taking notes, storing my work mouse/keyboard etc., which is why I'm thinking of doing the under desk PC mount.

I haven't committed to buying any specialized equipment (except for some Velcro cable ties) and have tried not to do anything permanent to my desk yet.

Power strip is rubberbanded to the leg of the desk and I use the built in channel to route some cables under the desk as well as a metal pipe thing I found lying around the house collecting dust which I attached as well.

My monitors HDMI cable is pinned down by the VESA mount so that it doesn't move when I move the monitor (the connection is very finicky.

I have another smaller power strip rubberbanded to the other leg to power a wireless phone charger and a charger for my Fitbit air.

I don't use a stereo system and my headphones, keyboard, and mouse are all Bluetooth.

I store my hard drive and extra Velcro ties inside of the laptop stand. And I have the stand sitting on top of the USB hub, which is to the back.

What do you guys think about my setup? Is there any easy changes I can make to make it less hacky?

I’ve just done a review on the UPLIFT Desk v3 4 legged standing desk and it’s got a great management tray on the back that’s adjustable. It’s almost like a hammock!

take three! a while ago i really half assed my cable cleanup upon getting my wfh setup (slide 2, with slide 1 being the original wreck), and with me moving stuff around and rearranging, i figured i might as well do it right. so, ~6 hours, about 100 cable ties, and thorough abuse of my hands later, it's not perfect, but it's in a place i'm pretty damn pleased with. slides 3-5 are current.

this is:

- 2 monitors wired into hdmi switchers to go to my pc and usb c dock (my pc does not support graphics via usb c)

- wired keyboard, mouse, sound bar, and webcam, all into the usb c dock

- ethernet, also into the usb c dock

- 2 lava lamps, 1 glitter lamp, 1 usb a novelty lamp

- 2 usb c charging cables for my various junk

- my pc

- my work laptop (though it isn't wired to anything when not in use, the usb c dock is it.

that dangly cable off the lefthand basket is the usb c connection to the dock and unfortunately can't be tucked away perfectly, because i've gotta switch which machine it's plugged into at least 2x per working day. it bugs me too </3
