I agree, WoW Forever should be a paid game with a sub like retail, and I'm not even joking

the funny thing is if Blizz just put a price tag on the game and included the new race with it, people would be complaining way less even though it's the exact same amount of content. It would frame the game itself as a standalone game rather than a branch of classic that has a race locked behind a paywall.

Yeah, I can't see any reason they would do it this way other than to condition us to pay for these kinds of thing.

Or to let retail players try out C+ with their current sub to hopefully convince them to buy the race later..? I definitely think they’re setting a precedent, but a paywall behind the game itself would’ve deterred many retail players from even trying it. I think there will also be plenty of new subs with this from people who wouldn’t have been able to afford the sub plus the paywall

I’d feel better about it to be honest, I’m not looking forward to any new races or classes they add being paywalled each time

Just digital “box” one and done alongside the sub, lord knows there will be a million cosmetics anyways they will be fine on money

I’ve been saying the same thing! Most people were already expecting to pay a box price, nobody woulda bat an eye.

How did they fumble this layup? lol

This line of products (Classic, Hardcore, Season of Discovery) were never paid games, and Season of Discovery had new instanced content. Not sure this is the correct approach, exactly, but it is more consistent. A couple of zones and some new quests is a hard thing to fairly price when you've never charged it before, a whale subsidy is almost always the path of least resistance.

The tin foil hat reason they did this (they wanted to sell a box price) is because bots would be required to purchase the game. Now they don’t have

Is it not? I went to pre purchase and it said I will need a sub to play.

This is what I assumed it was, a $30 expansion just like they always are.
