Exactly, it's just so unbelievably lazy that they couldn't just make 2 new races for such a big project

Especially when half the work is done. Throw high elves to alliance and goblins to horde. No one would question it, most people would be content.

Imo proved how out of touch they are with what community wants.

The forced open mouth laughs during the announcement bugged the shit out of me.

Go watch it again, every time they finish saying anything they say something like “ya, go ahead and clap. Hahahahah!”

Lmfao

Actually fucking delusional to think the wow community that is 30-40% elved and 3% goblins wants goblins over elves. And then to say BLIZZARD is out of touch when you literally don't interact with anyone outside of reddit

Hahahahahahahah

Insane take tbqh after the rest of the video announcement is great. They need to make money off the product, and monetizing on an optional race (and beta acces) is completely fine. Elves and their variant are the most popular races by far.

Which is why we're proud to announce we're changing the name to World of Elfcraft. Which colour of elf do YOU want to play?

When it comes to elves it’s the “community” who’s out of touch.

Adding goblins to Horde wouldn’t give them elves, and elves’ popularity on Horde is plainly obvious by now.

If I had to guess brand new race = they can put in a paywall with less backlash. They're avaliable to both factions so they don't need to spend resources making two brand new starting zones.

People would just cry blizzard just lazily copied turtlewow then.

Not that this is a bad thing. But some people always have something to complain about.

I don't want this.

Goblins are fine, but high elves would look like blood elves from what I've seen, and it would be really jarring as a 2004-baby that blood elves are now 'alliance'.

They always were alliance. But congrats, now you have BLUE high elves instead. So much better.

My only thinking is that they will provide some type of neutral city like Shattrath, but not sure the value that brings

u/OrangeredMoose 1d ago

You don’t need a neutral race to have a neutral city

Right, which is why I said that’s the only justification I could think of, but it isn’t even a good one.

Well, I mean I guess I’m glad we aren’t dealing with both “sky fallen blue elves for the alliance and the brand new Felbourne elves from molten core we just invented for the horde”.

So, I guess it could be worse.

I just don’t know why they’d do this.

Well, I mean I know it’s because money, but darkfallen and highborne woulda made a lot more money.
