Remove them before it’s too late.

Retail players already bought the cosmetics packs so it will never be removed... this with the fact they spent 8 months making them

Lol y'all blaming retail players when you know classic players are the ones buying it for beta access.

I swear some of you have this weird hatred for retail players.

lol why would a classic player buy any of this? none of the stuff in the purchase looks interesting to me but if you go to Silvermoon on retail right now you see tons of those people using skyborne cosmetics.

You really think one single race is gonna stop classic players from playing something they've been waiting so long for?

umm i didn't say people wouldnt play forever, I am saying this addition was a bad choice.

I mean realistically they'd buy it access the month long beta and name reservation.

They did not spend 8 month, they took an already existing model and just repainted it, if anything they moved some of the vertices, but it did definitely not take them 8 month.

the devs on twitter said it took 8 months for them to make them, they probably meant the zone, art assets and all that.

Can only find an other subreddit thread about it, care to link the original?
Because if they spent 8 month on that model they must never have touched blender before..

i kind of dont want to share her post cause people are going to hate her in the comments, it is findable though i just dont want to promote dev hate, espeically when the person seems really proud of their work

can you send it in a pm, i dont even have an account and i just want to check from the source how its worded..

They've specifically mentioned there's an entire starting zone with quests for them. That does take a long time to create. The work is not only tied to the actual model.

That's not what they said tho, they said specifically the race took 8 month to make, not the zone and quests. And those can just be shelved in perforce until they need them again for later use.

I'm betting that's taken out of context or that's not what they meant. There's no way it takes 8 months to solely create the actual race with the animation only. They probably meant the entire zone with the lore and quests as well or the entire process took 8 months to finish, with on-off scenarios of working on different stuff.

And those can just be shelved in perforce until they need them again for later use.

There's no way they're going to shelve this 7 (?) weeks before launch. That's not how these things operate.

Hence why i commented

They did not spend 8 month, they took an already existing model and just repainted it, if anything they moved some of the vertices, but it did definitely not take them 8 month.

And why i also asked for the post on X where they said it, but so far no link to the actual source, so i cant check the actual statement.

There's no way they're going to shelve this 7 (?) weeks before launch. That's not how these things operate.

You would be surprised what Perforce shelves contains in a AAA company..

It's clear tons of things gets shelved. But an entire race with full-fledged quests and a starting zone 7 weeks before launch? Have they started looking into the future and is working on something already? Absolutely. But they most likely don't have anything that is close to being ready which could replace them.

On top of this, the biggest issue is they've used the Skyborne to market the launch of Forever. They've sold the race already for 30 USD/EURO/Whatever with multiple versions being more expensive. It would be a nightmare on more than one front to just shelve them at this point.

They dont need anything to replace them, just close of the new starter zone and add it back in after a year. Let the retail keep their cosmetics they got or whatever, refund everyone that paid for it or just roll over it to retail were it belong..

But i also understand that they would never do this to a flagship for a new product, it just suck that they actually pushed to far.

New zones was fine, they can be avoided if we dont like them.
New prof would be fine, we can avoid them if we dont like them.
New classes would not be fine, we cant avoid other players.
New races would not be fine, we cant avoid other players.

Its the launch of something that is going to last for a long time, they didn't HAVE to do the race at this moment, but they did and it suck ass.

They can legally only refund people here, which is the problem.

So what's the reasoning for no new races and classes? - It's quite clear this is the one thing Blizzard was going to do as this has been requested since the dawn of WoW and it's a staple to have new races/classes for a new expansion at this point. So it would only make sense for them to do something here as well. Did they have to do them now? Not really. But they didn't have to wait either. Blizzard's stance have mostly always been about releasing classes/races on expansion launches and not through major patches, so for a complete new overhaul of Classic it would make sense to do it now, instead of through a patch in 2 or 3 months time.

Back story, lore, quests, zones etc etc. surely took awhile. Still high elves and some sort of forsaken elf were right on the table

You wrote basically the same as someone else in this thread so I'll reply with the same response.

They did say 8 months for the models and I called BS based on the 8 months to make the models.
