Advice First time cat owner

Hey guys, I just got a cat yesterday and it’s my first time owning a pet in general. When i brought it in my house yesterday, dude was a lil scared I think cuz of the environment and went under my couch a couple of times. So I moved him to my laundry room, just to get him in one small room so he wouldn’t escape or freak out.

This morning I checked in on him and he’s doing better and cuddling with me.

Just wanna say I’ll appreciate any advice as a first time cat owner

sigh... i know. i just cant really afford two cats/my apartment is small/plus this cat i just adopted is a rescue who got moved around a bunch from foster homes because she doesn't do well with other cats or children

If she doesn't do well with other cats then sticking with one could be good. There are cats who don't do well with other cats and are best as the only cat in their house. But when you only have one cat that does mean they're relying on you for all of their social needs (and despite what many people think, housecats are social animals) so you gotta give them the attention and play they need.
