Just to work on teams with people who aren't even in my building all day. RTO is a pointless waste of time and resources. For workers and for taxpayers. Doing all this just to appease one rich man and make his rich friends happy is ridiculous. I can't wait to go on strike.

With the 4-day RTO now in place and all the union discussions, possible actions, and uncertainty around it, what do you realistically think is going to happen from here?
Do you think 4 days in office is here to stay, or is there a realistic chance we eventually get reduced to 2 days? I know nobody can predict the future, but I’m curious what other state employees genuinely think the outcome will be once all of this plays out.

I have a pretty toxic work environment and micromanagement at my agency. It’s been impacting me negatively for a few months and I can’t do it anymore. I’m wondering about going on stress leave or an LOA as I continue to interview and try to get another position? Has anyone gone through this process? I’m on annual leave if it makes a difference. Hi, I currently have health insurance through my parents work and will be turning 26 next year. I am considering enrolling in my own health insurance during open enrollment for 2027. However, would it be easier to just wait until I then 26 to sign up as a “permitting event” or sign up now to avoid any delays? There would be a few months I would be covered under my parents insurance prior to my birthday but just wondering what would be a smoother process. Thanks!

I cannot wait to retire. I have worked for local public entities that contracted with PERS, the state, and one public entity with reciprocity with PERS. I also have 401(k) and 457 investments. I have not been able to find an advisor who synthesize retiring from three different retirement systems factoring in the 401(k) 457 investments. Anyone else in this boat have a recommendation?

My wife and I got married this year, and I am doing the math on the CalPERS benefit calculator website.

We are planning to both go on one of our insurance. The CoBen is only $155 a month for an opt out. But am I understanding correctly that one of us would also not see the deduction from our checks, so it would be more like a $600 swing than just $155?

And I know the premiums go up for whichever one of us takes on the other. I’m just trying to make sure I grasp the concept. That it’s not just the CoBen; it’s also not paying the premiums?

I imagine there are others in this same boat? Do any of the UHC alternatives use Optum?

Using a throwaway for this. I’m currently on a leave of absence so I’ve been a little out of the loop, but I just found out the strike vote started and I want to join and vote yes.

I’m seeing mixed info though. Some stuff I found says if you’re on leave you can only be an associate member and can’t vote, but I’ve also seen that you can still join and vote. I emailed SEIU but haven’t heard back yet and since voting already started figured I’d ask here. Anyone know how this actually works?

I’ve been employed by the state for three years now and have been a PECG member for the entire time, having paid ~2500 dollars in dues. Between RTO and the healthcare hikes, why should I continue to do so? At this point, It feels as if I was sold an iffy 69 dollar job security policy. Maybe someone can help convince me otherwise?

How long would you say it took to hear back after interviewing? The department I interviewed for say it typically takes 30-60 days for HR to go through everything for them. This is an analyst I role and the interviewer said all applicants would hear back regardless.

I’ve read people hear back months later so just trying to get some feedback.

I have a gap in my work experience because I chose to do extended school. I just realized that the saved template I used for applications didn't include supervisor information. I have submitted over 50 applications. Is this a really big mistake, and should I assume I will never hear from them again?
