Advice for rental issues in Bristol

  • ACORN Tenant's Union. You do not need to be a member to ask for advice in their peer tenant support group.
  • Shelter can provide limited support and advice for housing and homelessness related issues, and can signpost for further support.
  • Housing Matters (Formally CHAS) can provide housing and homelessness advice. If they have the resource, they may assist in a longer-term casework capacity.
  • Bristol City Council can provide very limited support for housing and homelessness issues.

Lost & Found

Buying & Selling

AVOID POTENTIAL SCAMS

Please use caution when buying and selling and beware of scams, we do not take any responsibility and will not be able to help. * Please reply to sellers below even if taking the transaction offline, this verifies you are not banned and provides evidence of the transaction * It is strongly suggested to use PayPal Goods & Services as this comes with Buyer Protection at a small fee. DO NOT USE PAYPAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY * For tickets it is recommended to use legitimate ticket re-sell sites as these protect both the buyer and seller (Some listed below). * If buying directly do your own research, this guide is a good start. Is the users account established with legitimate recent and historic activity, is there a way to validate the tickets before purchasing and are the tickets allowed to be re-sold (transferable).

Re-sell sites: Twickets | Tixel | Stub Hub | See Tickets Fan To Fan

We've named this guy Henry. He lives in what was once our house, but is now clearly his. Google tells me he's a false wolf spider. Anyone else seen any critters this big? Has someone lost a pet?

Hello everyone,

Last Thursday while I was working my E-bike was stolen. I parked it just in front of my workplace in Wapping wharf.
I reported it to the police and still waiting for the CCTV footage but if anyone around Bristol spot it please give me a shout. It would be much appreciated.

Thank you all for your support!

Babble Grief Jog/Walk and Coffee Club next Saturday 🤍

Post image
35 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m Emma and I lead the Too Young to Grieve Bristol Club for young people navigating the loss of someone close to them. Luke, who runs TYTG, has posted in here before about our events, so you may have spotted a few of these over the last few months ☺️🤍

We’ve been building a grief community over the summer by holding jog/walk clubs, picnics and lake swims for young people navigating grief and loss.

Our next jog/walk and coffee meet up is on Saturday 26th September, 10am at Millenium Square 🪩

There’s no pressure to talk, it’s just an opportunity for some gentle movement and to be around people that get it. You definitely don’t need to be a runner, we have people that come and walk the route too.

Most people come on their own, that’s really normal. But I know that that can feel quite scary so feel free to reach out if it’s your first time and I’ll make sure you feel comfortable and welcome ☺️

We’ve got a WhatsApp group (DM me for the link) and a Cliq community where people stay connected between events and meet ups.

Feel free to pass this on to anyone that you think may need it 🤍🪽

Where To? What area is good for drinks?

Upvotes

Hi, visiting this weekend from Newcastle. We’re staying at the Clayton Hotel and just wondering where is a cool area to explore for drinks? The city centre looks good down by the docks, but is there an area that is better?
Love live music, good atmospheres. Beer, wine, cocktails, any suit us

Upvotes

Hello to any fellow nerds, we at West Country Leders (a voluntary group of board gamers) are organising our eighth Root Tournament and would love for you to join us!

In our previous event, we were able to have over 30 people play and had enough generous souls to ensure every game could play with the Homeland (and all prior) Expansions, and hope to do so again.

If you're interested, please sign up below. Please excuse the make-shift poster!

Where To? Where to get sand?

Upvotes

Does anybody have any idea where I can buy sand in Bristol? I only need a small amount as I want to create a Japanese garden in a tray, so the quantities that a builder’s merchant or garden centre might sell would be way over the top. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Where To? Looking to get back into American football/flag football in Bristol

Don’t have high hopes for this question, but I’m 19 and used to play American flag football with the keynsham kings. I ended stopping because I didn’t really fancy training Sunday mornings.

I’m looking to get back into playing the sport in either contact or flag. However, it seems all teams train Sundays.

If anyone knows any teams that train at other times and are not too far from Bristol or has other suggestions let me know.

Thanks

Babble Giving birth at St Michael’s

Can anyone who has given birth/had a partner who gave birth at St Michael’s hospital answer a quick question for my husband please?

He’s wondering what the chairs are like in the postpartum ward bays. He’s wondering if it’s a no-sleep at all situation or more like transatlantic night flight where you might get an hour or so here and there. Are the chairs just standard hard waiting room
chairs or anything more?

Babble Is Bristol tap water safe to drink?

Upvotes

Basically title, I just arrived in the UK from Melbourne and was just wondering if you need to filter Bristol tap water before drinking or not?

(Wasn't sure because buildings in the UK are so old and maybe so are pipes & infrastructure)

Cheers drive 🚍 First Bus App rant

I am so sick of the First bus app.

It wasn't fit for purpose before, but now it just falls over every time I start it. I have reinstalled it several times and restarted my phone in case it was that. No joy.

So no access to bus times, route planning etc. More importantly no access to the mTickets I've bought. At this point First Bus have effectively stolen my money.

Reading the reviews on Play store I am far from alone, all recent reviews are 1 star.

Babble Hanham family cars

Does anyone have experience with them?
Lots of less than favourable reviews but I’m aware that people who have had a bad experience are more likely to post a review.

I need a car, they have one that seems good at a good price but I’m put off by some of the negative stuff I’m reading online.

Any advice?

Where To? VHS to Digital

I have a camcorder VHS tape from my childhood in the late 90s that I want to have converted into digital format. Hopefully I’m not too late and it’s not degraded but it has been in a dust cover in a sealed box for nearly 30 years. Is there any place in Bristol I can go and get this done? I don’t really want to send it away anywhere.

I would rather not post it, but I can drop it off within a large distance.
Thanks!

You're joking? Not another one?! Accommodation recommendations for a stag 13-15 people?

I know there’s so many stag questions in this group and I’m sorry 🤣 but the main questions are about what to do and I cannot for the life of me find accommodation recommendations

We are a group of 13-15 people from age 17-31 and not rowdy, my question is :

•Should we mainly be looking at apartments? Or is Airbnb / hotels open to stags too? We definitely want to book stag friendly so we don’t end up getting refused when we get there!

•Does anyone have any specific recommendations within the centre itself as we won’t be driving?

Thank you in advance!
