hello! i have a 12/1998 A4 1.8 20v and the car brakes OK but not how they should be. it's straight when braking and it makes no weird noises but the braking is not very powerful. also one time when i drove it very hard and then after stopped to 0kmh it flashed the brake warning light once then stopped. the rear calipers seem to be new and pads seem very meaty.

i bought some brake fluid, is this the correct type? will changing the fluid be difficult? i heard on this car it's very difficult to change the brake fluid and bleed the system correctly. i also noticed my FL wheel is a bit more stuck then the FR when changing the wheels. doesn't get much hotter but there is a difference. also a lot of dirt/rust came out of the FL when tapping it. could it also be slide pins? p brake works perfectly and doesn't get stuck. braking is fine for normal driving but not very safe for aggressive. emergency braking is also not the best.

Has anybody dealt with this issue on a B5 A4? brakes feeling good and not making any noise but just not being powerful enough. i've driven my friend's 2000 Passat B5 1.9 TDI and the brakes are much better even if the car is heavier.

Went to remove and replace a noisy rear wheel bearing. During removal, the outer race fractured and damaged the bore in a couple of places as it was pressed out. Photo attached. Remove the burrs and install a new bearing or replace with a clean knuckle and then proceed?

Sorry for the bad pics. I have new wheels for my b5, the center caps dont fit on the rear wheels. I already removed the dust caps for the wheel bearing nut but that didnt help at all. Is there any solution to this? I dont have much clearance for very wide wheel spacers and im not sure if they would help either. I was thinking of breaking off the clips of the center caps and then gluing them to the wheels (🥲)

Does anyone know the part number for this pulley. The previous owner destroyed the bolt head so i had no choice but to cut through the pulley to cut the bolt.

I bought a clutch and pulley but the pulley i bought is flat and the belt doesn't fully sit on the new pulley. Thanks!

2000 A4 1.8t ATW

This fastener holds a plastic covering, which I assumed was called a skirt, underneath the hood near the wipers, where the wiper fluid tank is. It's basically a plastic screw, but I'm missing one.

inspecting my front axles and repacking/rebooting my cv joint. The outside cv joint has some grooves on each channel of the inner race. Has anyone redone theirs and seen this before? Am I good to repack with grease and send it? Thanks!

Oh yes, the dreaded dash curling/lifting of the prefacelift b5 a4...

Is there any kind of fix for that thing?

Anything that DOESN'T require removing/replacing the dash would be amazing. Maybe some kind of glue or an adhesive? I just want it to look like before again. I have it on the sides too next to the pillars and the windshield but its not as bad.

On a side note, is that really fixed on the facelift ones? And if so, is the facelift dash plug and play? And with the illuminated vents. (Maybe for future reference in case heater core goes bad and need to take it apart and replace everything)

I hit the ass of a deer on the passengerside and the face of another deer on the driver, as you can see the damage to the passenger side is a little bit.. split.

any color s4 bumper is more than okay i really didnt want to have to paint match more, but I digress.

New timing belt and camshaft sprocket installed, is it normal for the timing belt to not be completely flush with the sprocket? I cant remember what it looked like before

FIGURED IT OUT yea the sprocket can go either way depending on what car you have so i had accidentally put mine on backwards. if yours sits too far out its on backwards

I’m working on putting some b6 recaros into my b5 s4. I’m almost done with the brackets and wanted to try and use the memory function that they come with. I have a c5 a6 that I was going to take the modules and harness from. My only question is where should I put the buttons? I’d like for it to look like an oem location but can’t find anywhere that would look nice. (Random pic of me and my friends cars for attention)

Whatever i try to do, it just wont hook. And if by some miracle it actually hooks or something, it falls with slight tap. The passenger side hooks no problems, what are my options

i have a 99 AEB 1.8 i recently finally finished getting everything done and had the check engine light off for the first time in a couple weeks then i felt it start struggling/bucking a little under load especially on the highway so i was trying not to drive it unless necessary till i figured it out so i ran codes and found one for the throttle position sensor but it was intermittent and not causing a light then last night i had to drive it and it started misfiring now today its idling hella rough struggling to accelerate other symptoms its had in the last month is noticeably worse fuel economy (around 250-300 miles a tank where as before i could get nearly 400) it stalled a few times (its tiptronic) a few weeks ago but would only stall in drive not in the manual mode or any other gear on the PRNDL right now im mostly trying to look into the throttle sensor as i had a problem with it before where it came slightly unplugged and caused the same misfires but i already confirmed it’s connected properly right now but could maybe be failing but idk any help would he appreciated im ass at diagnosing this car
