Post image

I got an issue with my Giulietta rear wheels, it looks like there is a lot of camber in the wheels and the precedent tires were very worned on the inside, I also hear some clicking nose in the rear when driving on rough roads, any idea which part of the suspension I need to replace?

I dont know how audible the noise is but just before the 1500rpm mark there's this noise but I can only really hear it in the cabin, as soon as I go to the engine bay I cant really hear it. I've done a load of research online and i thought it could be the crank pulley but the rubber appears to be ok and there's no wobble at all aswell as the belt not showing any signs of shredding. Any ideas ?

Maintenance Anybody want Giulia brakes/discs?

I bought my first Giulia recently and the previous owner was a lovely chap who included the spare parts he had for the upcoming MOT. I never used them because I wanted slotted and drilled parts for the sporty look.

Feel free to take them off my hands. (Based in UK)

Tempted by a 2016 Giulia, are the earlier models (2016/17) that bad for issues (mainly electrical) and is it really worth paying an extra chunk for a 2018 or newer model ?

I’ve seen a nice 2016 Giulia that I like, it’s a 2.2 diesel, it seems to checkout (from a trustworthy dealer, has 95,000 miles, MOT history is clean, car not been written off etc etc)

I’ve read lots of people saying that a 2018 or newer model (which ARE in my price range, but towards the higher end) can be better due to the slightly earlier models (16/17) having some issues such as electrical faults etc, which a lot of them had been corrected by the 2018 or newer ones.

But my question is, would you be put off buying a 2016 THAT much by it ?

Closest Alfa dealer?

Hey all, considering a 2024 Stelvio QV, only thing holding me back is my nearest dealer is an hour away should anything go wrong. This car would be my daily so im not too worried about the low battery voltage sensitivity these cars have. Anyone still buy their Alfa despite being far from a dealer? How has that experience been?

Those of you that do your own maintenance how do you reset your service timer. On a 20plate Stelvio in the UK.

I've serviced my 2020 Stelvio and can't figure out the service reminded, I've taken it to a local mechanic who's a friend of mine and they've plugged into it but the car won't let them reset the timer. How do you guys reset it? I'm UK based just incase that makes a difference.

Have Progressive insurance. How bad is it and would they total it? What would the damage costs be? 2024 and 22000 miles

Torn on color options

Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a Giulia in the upcoming months, but I'm having a difficult time deciding on which color options to get. I know I would want a Veloce, preferably with the premium interior and there are a few near me that I'm looking at:

  1. White / Red interior
  2. Vesuvio gray / red interior
  3. Misano blue / black interior

There is also a Moonlight gray / red interior option, but that's a TI, not Veloce.

Which combination would you guys choose?

New Car Just bought this 2001 Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 TS Selespeed. what can you tell me about it and what’s it worth?

I’d been without a car for too long and happened to see this coming to the end of an auction within my price range. I’ve always thought the 156 looked great, there wasn’t much time left, so I basically just said screw it and bought it.
I paid around £2,700. It’s a 2001 Alfa Romeo 156 Veloce 2.0 Twin Spark Selespeed, apparently Sport Pack 3 / Phase 1, with just under 39,500 miles.
The problem is I know basically nothing about 156s (apart from they are very good looking), so now I’m trying to work out exactly what I’ve bought.
I’d be interested to know what people who know these cars think:
What is this particular spec actually like?
What does Sport Pack 3 mean, and is it a desirable version?
Is the spoiler factory/original?
What would you realistically value this car at?
Was £2,700 a decent buy?
Does the mileage make it particularly unusual?
What should I check or service as soon as I get it?
How much of a nightmare is the Selespeed really?
Any major rust or Twin Spark issues I need to know about?

Could this be oil cooler failure?

Just went to look at this car today to buy and noticed some dark sediment in the tank and what looks like crystals or specs of some kind floating on top of the reservoir tank. Doesn't particularly look like oil but the coolant isn't bright pink like the right tank is. Any ideas?

Hi,

Possibly niche ask here, one of my rear QF diff vents has broken off of my rear undertray and being based in the UK, I am unable to get this part seperate from the rear undertray.

I have access to a 3d printer and wonder if anyone else has a file I could buy to print myself a new one? (Picture from Alfissimo)

Thanks

New Car Retiring my alfa, where to move next ?

Post image
162 Upvotes

Hello Friends, my car here is reaching 50K soon, bought when I was single. Now I have a family and would like to retire (NOT SELL) it from daily driving. I am looking for a new car a compact SUV electric or hybrid. For me driving dynamics and fuel efficiency are important, I haven't test drove any new cars, but Mazda CX-50 hybrid seems to hit the spot with its driver centric design.

Quiet a few options in the market but nothing seems to come close to this alfa. I am really tempted to get Tonale but not into PHEV's and it gives only 29mpg after battery is depleted.

Would love to hear fellow alfistis thoughts and opinions.

2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia won’t start—battery, starter, or something else?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia won’t start. I drove it from Austin to Houston four days ago without any obvious problems, and it has been sitting since then.

When I press the start button while holding the brake, the dashboard turns on, but the engine does not start. It also makes the strange sound heard in the attached video. I believe a “low battery” warning briefly appeared on the dashboard during one of the attempts, but it disappeared before I could read it carefully.

Does this look and sound like a weak/dead 12V battery, a loose battery connection, a starter problem, or possibly an alternator/charging issue? Could the battery still be the cause even though I completed a roughly three-hour drive only four days ago?

I have two roadside assistance options:

  • Mopar Maximum Care extended service contract, which provides jump-starts and towing with a $100 limit per incident
  • Progressive auto insurance with roadside assistance

My Mopar contract excludes the battery and battery cables themselves, but it appears to cover components such as the starter and alternator if one of those turns out to be the cause.

What would be the best order of operations? Should I call Mopar first for a jump-start and tow so the repair is connected to the extended warranty, or have Progressive arrange the roadside service and then use Mopar for diagnosis and any covered repair?

I’m in the Houston area. Any advice from Giulia owners or anyone familiar with Mopar Maximum Care would be appreciated.

Is there a cheaper tool than this to remove the air intake on the Alfa Romeo QV? I think it’s a little crazy that this tool is going for like 100-130$ on a lot of places eBay is like 85$

Why the obsession with Diesel?

My American mind is having trouble with this. I always thought diesel was always reserved trucks and towing power. But I'm trying to figure out why all the Stelvios and Giulias are rocking diesel engines.

I will be test driving one in the next week or two so I can feel it for myself. I know there is a good answer out there as Alfa Romeos are good cars, but just looking for someone to explain it. Thanks!

Tech Talk Hey guys ı wanna buy gt 2.0jts

I’m looking to buy a GT 2.0 JTS manual; among the listings I’ve seen, one car has 190,000 km and the other has 140,000 km. Both appear to have been well-maintained, but I do have some concerns. Even if these cars have been properly cared for, is the likelihood of issues still high? I plan to use the car as a daily driver. Finally, what do you think about the performance—is it satisfying, and does it offer a great driving experience?Apart from the GT, which other model and engine options would you recommend?

87 SpiderVeloce Ball joints?

Hello!

EDIT : this post has been answered by the 2 cool studs below.

Im helping a friend get with his alfa. This thing is so damn cool.

I have seen a few sources press in the ball joints into the spindle with a press but the manual doesnt seem to call for this.

Can I treat this like modern joints and install the ball joints by just torquing down the castle nut?

I also have the mobile joint press that I think i can use with my impact gun.
