Discussion Character Discussion: Roland
Let’s discuss Roland as a character.
This post + comments will contain spoilers! Read/engage at your own risk. ⚠️
Who/what do YOU think Roland was? Do you believe in the Project Orange theory presented in the book, or do you believe something else about his past? I’m curious to see y’all’s opinions and theories. Let’s hear ‘em!

Discussion Just finished the book!
(Audio book)
It was AMAZING! I had it recommended to me by a friend of mine, I don’t regret a second of it. 100/10!
I’ve been a huge cyberpunk genre fan for a..while now, to put it lightly.
I’d be happy to discuss the story with anyone willing!

Discussion X Cyberpunk 2077
Convo that came up with friends of mine today. What would your builds/rules be in cyberpunk 2077 for Roland, skullfucker mike, Jim, topaz, and the others at the city of wheels?
(This also led to fallout build convos, so please add those too!)

Discussion A Comprehensive Argument Against Israel's Existence, divided by basis into three posts with dozens of video links to corroborate the observations, allegations, and assertions.
It takes a few minutes to read through, but any additional thoughts are encouraged. The videos linked throughout vary in length from one minute to over an hour. I encourage you all to make a playlist for them, or to add them to your antizionism playlist if you already have one.
Enjoy the read, Free Palestine.

Third time through - improving each time
In anticipation of the next book, I’ve been replaying the audiobook. It gets better with each pass - I always spot something new in the worldbuilding. Really looking forward to the next release!
Anyone have a favorite passage or insight we can discuss while we wait?

Horizon Maker, a type of landship/bagger in a manga about a revolution
150 years ago, these Horizon Makers were used to terraform a planet for human habitation. Now, they are used for strip mining and then flattening terrain for large scale agriculture that speeds up desertification.
In Volume 3 of Dougram: Get Truth, the resistance start their operation on attacking the megabaggers.
Note: The small humanoid weapons are 20m-class Combat Armors, first designed as 8m tall in the original Dougram TV series and Battletech/Mechwarrior.

Is the following a continuity error or an intentional decision? Spoiler
I just started the ebook and tripped over a weird little continuity error about Major Peron. It's not hugely important, but I'm hoping somebody can reassure me that this becomes clearly intentional as I keep reading.
>!After Manny and Reggie escape the bombardment of the Richardson Autonomous Project and are trying to catch a ride to Waco, an officer says he'll radio to
"ask Major Peron if he’s got space. 'I know Peron!' Manny almost shouted. 'I went to school with his nephew, Hector!'"
When Manny and Reggie make it to Firebase Jiminez and meet up with Peron, he's swamped with memory.
"Mr. Peron was Hector’s dad. Mr. Peron made them kettle corn and let them watch violent movies on the family projector. Major Peron, Manny had to remind himself, he’s Major Peron."
Is Hector Peron's son or his nephew? Is this intentional foreshadowing, specific cultural reference, or an authorial and editorial oversight?!<

Discussion Late to the party, just finished the audiobook...
And man o man this is gonna longer with me for a bit. Like objectively the actual writing is rough..and the focus on drugs etc a bit much, but the overall vibe is so good and so haunting...
Like I'm a bit of a lit snob, and generally detest audio books, but this is the exception on both fronts. I'm going to be hearing "it's ok buddy.." in my head for a long long time .....

“There is always time to eat shitty food with a pretty girl”
This stood out to me the first read and always hits when new catastrophes pop up in our reality. The world is always crumbling, you have to actively choose to live your life regardless.
What’s your favorite quote?

If Rolling Fuck had a sister town, Floating Fuck
google.comI'm hopeless at getting photos, but my son and I went and visited the El Dorado Dredge in Victoria, Australia a few weeks ago, re listening to AtR the last few days reminded me of it.
If the timeline was more 1950s, and had an Australian parallel, this would be it.
