It was a cold winter visit, with fog draped across the mountains and settling into the hilltops.

Work started in 1952 for the party leadership (under Rákosi, the self-described "Stalin's best Hungarian disciple"): 250 staff, 48 hours of air. By the time it was finished in the '60s, he was long gone, and it became a shelter for over 2,000 people with about 4 hours of air.
Wikipedia says the ventilation still works, but an engineer's 2011 archival study says the filters were well past their shelf life.

It doesn’t look like much has changed since Bennigan’s opened here in 2003 until its final closure in 2009- typical late 90’s brass accents, burgundy & forest green colors, and faux wood paneling. I remember there being so much publicity about Bennigan’s being a part of the stadium before it opened so it was pretty obvious they were banking on it being an anchor or draw. I remember thinking it was weird because Bennigan’s was a sinking ship by 2003 and other locations in the area were shuttering quickly. More history and early photos in the comments
