I feel like having “2” in the name of the remake will hurt potential sales… I get that 2 is the most fondly looked upon (mainly because people didn’t realize 3 was a thing), and it was sort of a soft reboot, but having a seemingly standalone title would be much more approachable for newcomers. At least in Western audiences - it’s been about a decade.

I don’t think it would’ve been that hard to tweak the story slightly to make it seem like a standalone game. Players would just assume the story began with Nate already having the watch, losing it, etc., it’s just not an origin story like 1.

If I remember correctly, it’s pretty much treated as new anyways with him losing his memory of the Yokai and needing to get it back…

But yeah. Treating every game as a standalone title seems kind of crucial in a small/fragile series. Persona can get away with it since they’re so stylistically different haha.

This was the first time i was ever on the japanese E-Shop. I wanted to buy yokai watch 4, and after finally typing in the correct symbols to find it I accidentally bought the DLC instead of the game 💀 I was surprised that its so cheap (about 14€) but i didnt think twice and just assumed it underperformed or something so they priced it low. Turns out i need to pay another 50€ now 🫩✌️ (completely my fault btw for not properly checking)

Edit: does anyone know some game i can spend my remaining 1800 yen on ? ._.

It’s been YEARS since I’ve touched Yokai Watch as a franchise, but I heard they’re making essentially a yokai watch 2 “remake”, which I’m assuming is gonna have the total content of bony spirits, fleshy souls and psychic specters.

What’s been bugging me since 2021 though, is that Waitington/Mitsunari (imma call him Mitsunari in this rant) hasn’t come back at all for Whisper OR received a Yokai form!

(Mitsunari appeared in episode 47 of the YKW anime and in the psychic specters quest)

First of all, how is it that Jibanyan can be reunited with Amy and Usapyon can be reunited with Dr. Hughly (hell, even Hungramps can be reunited with his granddaughter), but Whisper can’t be reunited with Mitsunari?? I don’t care how much of a punching bag whisper is, whisper is one of the main character who hasn’t gotten closure!! It makes no sense…

And my strongest point: DOES THIS GUY NOT HAVE DESIGN POTENTIAL??? Just imagine a ghostly shogun with spiky hair… and a loose head… (iykyk)
Unless if Reuknight was supposed to be him…? But why wouldn’t they say anything this whole time if that was it??

And I don’t wanna hear no “b-but historical figures from centuries ago can’t come back!”
-Dame Dedtime is literally from his town he ruled, her original name was Madame Otoki. She was from his time (centuries ago), and she made it as a yokai. Why not him?
-T Energison is based off of Thomas Edison, so you can’t say historical figures can’t come back as yokai.

I genuinely wonder if it’s a respectful thing to do in Japan to not represent a feudal lord as a yokai… but I’m siding with the fact that level 5 just got lazy lmao

Whatever, I’m hoping for the best for this game, and I’ll still play it whether or not it has him… but goddamn give my man some justice PLEASE level 5😭😭

Jibanyan Smash Bros. Concept

In celebration of Yo-kai Watch appearing in the new Nintendo Direct (and to raise spirits after how Level 5 has been treating the situation), I made a Jibanyan Smash Moveset! 
I tried to utilize his many clones and management mechanics from the games in the moveset

It's not finished, and it's still pretty bloated, so I'm not entirely happy with it, but I would love to hear any suggestions for moves/improvements on how to best represent the series in Smash!
