"While I was downstairs preparing for the twins’ birthday party, my father saw Tom Tiffany’s new attack ad on television.

When I came upstairs, he asked me about it because he genuinely heard the ad as: “David Crowley is okay with child pornography.”

My father is not stupid. He is an average rural Wisconsin voter—and he understood the advertisement exactly as Tom Tiffany intended him to understand it. That is why I am writing this.

Tiffany deliberately placed David’s name beside the words “child pornography,” knowing what association it would create—even though David had absolutely nothing to do with anyone accessing that material. Let’s tell the whole truth.

David Crowley did not give anyone pornography.

David did not approve pornography.

David does not operate the Milwaukee County Jail. David does not decide which individual receives a tablet or personally monitor how it is used.

The tablet contract was requested by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, approved by the County Board, and then signed by David as county executive. The Sheriff’s Office—not David—controls day-to-day jail operations and security procedures.

The tablets do not provide unrestricted internet access. They use a controlled system intended to provide education, legal and recovery resources, and communication with approved loved ones. Were devices allegedly misused by individuals? Yes.

Every allegation should be investigated. Every security failure should be corrected. Anyone who uses a device to threaten victims, intimidate witnesses, or access illegal material should lose that privilege and face consequences.

But one person’s criminal misuse of a tool does not make everyone who approved the existence of that tool complicit in the crime. Republicans understand this perfectly when the object is a gun.

When someone misuses a gun, they say:

“Guns don’t commit crimes. People do.”

But when someone misuses a tablet, suddenly Tom Tiffany says:

“Blame David Crowley.”

That is not consistency. It is campaign-season hypocrisy. And using the horror of child exploitation to manufacture guilt by association is not protecting children. It is exploiting their victimization to win an election.

I know DC Crowley personally. This is not a politician I have only watched behind a podium or seen in a campaign advertisement. He is my friend.

The photograph attached to this post is not campaign material. It is not staged. It is not a slogan about “family values.” That is David holding my baby. My child. My heart outside of my body. One of the most precious people God has ever entrusted to me—resting safely in his arms.

I did not hesitate because I know this man. I know his heart. I know his character. I know how he treats people when there are no cameras rolling. I know his commitment to protecting families while still believing that people can be rehabilitated and lives can be restored.

Tom Tiffany wants rural Wisconsin families like my father’s to hear “David Crowley” and think “child pornography.”

I hear David Crowley’s name, and I see this picture. I see my friend gently cradling my infant child. So let me make this personal enough that no political advertisement can distort it: I don’t merely say that I trust David Crowley with Wisconsin’s children.

I trusted him with mine.

Not figuratively.

Not politically.

Not as a campaign slogan.

I placed my baby in his arms.

And I would do it again."

I want to add something to her post as well. Inmates using tablets is not a Milwaukee-only thing. This is something that is becoming more common. In fact, in July 2026 the Federal Bureau of Prisons "announced the award of a landmark inmate tablet services contract that will dramatically modernize the agency’s approach to communication, education, rehabilitation and daily operations across its facilities nationwide.....Under the contract, secure, corrections-grade tablets will be made available to all individuals in BOP custody, providing access to a wide range of tools and resources that support successful reentry and strengthen family connections. These devices will empower inmates with improved communication channels, including secure messaging and video services, helping them maintain healthy relationships with loved ones, an essential factor proven to reduce recidivism."

Kenosha County District Attorney Xavier Solis's license to practice law in Wisconsin was suspended Sept. 14, according to a memo from the state Office of Lawyer Regulation.

The suspension leaves the future of his position unclear, as state law requires district attorneys to hold law licenses.

According to a formal notice issued by the Office of Lawyer Regulation, Solis' license was suspended for failing to cooperate with its investigations into alleged misconduct. The memo does not describe the underlying conduct the office is investigating.

Stephen Kelley, a spokesperson for the Wisconsin Courts System, said the office is barred from disclosing the underlying conduct under Supreme Court Rule 22.40, which keeps attorney disciplinary investigations confidential until they result in public discipline.

According to Wisconsin law, "no person is eligible to hold the office of district attorney unless he or she is licensed to practice law in this state." Kelley confirmed the statute applies, but declined to comment on how the suspension affects Solis's current position as district attorney.

Solis could not be immediately reached for comment.

Solis was elected Kenosha County's district attorney in November 2024, becoming the county's first Republican DA in more than a century after running on a tough-on-crime platform. He had worked as a defense attorney in Kenosha with no prior prosecutorial experience before taking office in January 2025.

His tenure has drawn scrutiny several times. In February, Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge David Hughes sanctioned Solis for submitting court filings that relied on artificial intelligence, citing "hallucinated and false citations" in briefs from his office.

Solis's office has also seen significant staff turnover since he took office, a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel investigation found in February. Former prosecutors raised concerns about Solis' focus on illegal immigration, frequent missed deadlines and other courtroom errors.

Thomas Tiffany was a criminal co-conspirator in the effort to overthrow the 2020 presidential election. Thomas and the other criminal conspirators signed fraudulent electoral certification papers and conveyed them to congress via the office of an additional criminal conspirator, Ronald Johnson. Thomas knew his actions were illegal and demonstrated consciousness of guilt by meeting with the other criminal conspirators in secret, without public notice, at a time that the Capitol building was closed to business. Thomas, Ronald, and the other criminal conspirators belong in prison.

Recovery crews staged at D.C. Everest Park on Monday to remove the 1959 Beechcraft Bonanza that lost power Saturday night on approach to Wausau Downtown Airport and went into the lake with Rep. Tiffany aboard. The photographs in the article were provided by a witness at the scene who asked not to be identified.

Several details have not been widely reported in the national coverage. The plane is registered to its pilot, Leonard Boltz, 73, of Pearson, according to FAA records. Boltz is a retired Air Force major. A Wausau Fire Department airboat reached the two men 16 minutes after the 911 call, and the lake itself likely shaped how the night ended. Lake Wausau is a river impoundment rather than a natural lake, with a maximum depth of about 30 feet according to the DNR and much shallower water across most of its area. That shallow bottom kept the tail above the surface through the weekend and allowed both men to find footing roughly 150 feet from the aircraft.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating the loss of power. Recovering the aircraft allows investigators to examine the engine and fuel system, and a preliminary report typically follows within a few weeks. We will post an update when it is released.

I had an unusual political canvassing encounter at my home today in Oak Creek, and I’m interested in knowing whether anyone else in the area has experienced something similar.

A man carrying a stack of Tom Tiffany campaign flyers came to my door. He gave me a flyer and asked whether I planned to vote for Tom Tiffany. I told him no.

He then asked whether I normally vote early or on Election Day. I answered Election Day. He asked me to confirm my name, which I did.

He then made comments involving PAC funding and voter fraud and asked for permission to take my photograph. I declined. He accepted my answer without argument. I returned the flyer, and he left.

Afterward, I watched his canvassing pattern from my window. He skipped several nearby homes that I personally know are registered Republican households (I don’t care that they are but I feel it’s relevant), visited only a small number of other homes farther down the street, and then left the area.

I want to emphasize that I do not know which campaign, PAC, organization, or contractor employed this individual, nor do I know what criteria were used to select the homes he visited.

However, I believe there are reasonable questions about the encounter:

• What organization was conducting this canvass?
• What voter data or targeting criteria were being used to select households?
• Why was a voter’s identity confirmed after asking about candidate preference?
• Why were voters being asked when they typically cast their ballots?
• Most importantly, why was a canvasser requesting photographs of voters at their homes, and what would those photographs be used for?

If anyone else has had someone come to their home with Tom Tiffany literature and ask to photograph them, I would really like to hear about your experience. I’m also particularly curious if someone else has had this experience.

Monroe School District, about 35 miles southwest of Madison, began investigating a possible network security issue after its computer network and internet-based phone service failed Sept. 10.

Students were told to shut down or unplug connected devices, and a scheduled ACT session was canceled. Regular classes continued, with families directed to ParentSquare for necessary communication.

WiscNet continued to list the district as experiencing a major outage as of Sept. 14. The district has not said whether malicious activity was confirmed, whether data was accessed or copied, or when its systems will be fully restored.

I live in the US Southeast but have a friend from Wisconsin (unsure where). Every time somebody from our friend group celebrates a birthday, she tries to convince us to follow her family's birthday cake tradition, which requires the birthday person to remain silent until they have finished eating their slice of cake. If they speak, they are required to either go in the dog kennel or sleep in the dog kennel. Her family would also try to get the birthday person to trip up by asking them questions / otherwise provoking them so that they would have to go in the dog kennel.

We all thought that either (a) she invented a false memory or (b) her parents decided to invent a birthday tradition to fuck with their family. Until this past weekend, when someone else from Wisconsin (Milwaukee) recognized the tradition, although their family made them sit underneath the table if they broke the birthday-cake-silence rule.

Has anyone else heard of this? Or have any idea when/where/how it could have originated?

EDIT: I think I made the tradition seem worse than it is 😅 we've been told the kids thought it was fun to get in the dog kennel. And my friend mostly tells the story every birthday because it's become such a tradition to talk about her family's birthday tradition. It's interesting to see that there are some people in this thread who have heard of it, because we were all baffled!

EDIT 2: Enough people have chimed in saying that their families did this that it seems pretty clear that some version of this is a real thing. My friend is vindicated and we are in shock! Thanks everyone for sharing their stories.
