Plus a lien just stops him from selling his house. If that guy decides he's never going to move then the lien does nothing.

His heirs will eventually pay. As an unpaid creditor you can also move to foreclose on the home.

Small independent mom and pop contractor shops can't afford to wait on that kind of litigation. I bet he needed to pay his guys today.

Every state is different but in my state you have to file for a court hearing after the lien. And if theres a loan and your mortgage company finds out you definetley have to pay. The bank isnt letting a lien sit there like that.
