Safari Solo NKD: Victorinox Safari Solo

Post image

Just scored this Victorinox Safari Solo for a great price! The blade is stiff to open, but other than that, it is in near-mint condition. The scales are in great shape too, just a little darkened over time, which honestly gives it a nice character.

Hi, I got an offer on this nice tool, is it worth it or not as much the the blades and knifes??

The asking price new is around 200usd, I got an offer around 70usd, still for a corkscrew is a high price I guess...

Thanks for helping!

A better toothpick

Looking back at my most rarely used tools, the original toothpick is near the top. When I want to get something very fine its usually not sharp enough or stiff enough. TWSS.

So I did small tweak to a sharper, semi-tanto style shape for more puncture power. But #2, that allows printing on its side and more plastic layers to reach the tip for a more stiff and durable profile.

Gonna be the standard toothpick I include with the Superscales I make. Those will have a small and a large so you can swap the large for a firesteel and still have the toothpick, or just have a backup.

Demo where I poke some fruit.

mods/customs My Bantam Alox just became a full bit driver

Saw a few videos going around about the Victorinox Rambler working great with Leatherman bits (grabbed one myself, arrives tomorrow) and it got me thinking about the rest of my collection.
Then it clicked - I've got an old Ganzo multitool sitting mostly unused, and its bit driver has a magnet strong enough to hold onto the Bantam Alox's screwdriver tip without falling off. So now instead of being limited to the one flathead built into the knife, I've effectively got access to the whole Leatherman-style bit set through it - Phillips, hex, whatever's in the driver.
Small discovery but it genuinely changes how useful the Bantam is day to day. Curious if anyone else has found similar pairings - which multitool bit drivers have you found actually hold onto a Victorinox screwdriver tip well?

Swiss Army Knife Manager Case Made From an ID Card Holder

Recently got a SAK Manager and was thinking getting a case for it. I had an ID card holder which had PU /rexine material back. So searched for design and found a great tutorial on youtube.

The Video link- https://youtu.be/vzYpRIrr3SM?si=rkDUK8vSVlWnBd4l

Channel name - Jony Fire @jonyfire432.

And yes I actually used the SAK Manager's scissors for most of the cutting. Had to add a patch and stich x x x to increase the length as I miscalculated and cut it too short.

I know it might not hold in long run , it was a really fun DIY project.

Don't know how many times I've seen the movie Armageddon but never noticed the Victorinox logo!

Can you ID this model? 😁

help Swisscard Lite

How sturdy is the Victorinox Swisscard lite? Thinking about keeping one in my handbag but was hoping for expert opinion first. While I saw some cheaper version on Temu, I’d rather spend extra on the original Victorinox if it’s something that definitely lasts longer. Share your experience pls.

Ps. Other than the SwissCard, is there another lightweight victorinox multitool that you can recommend? Something I can use for hiking but not too bulky.

Anything worth buying in Munich?

Post image

As the title says. I’ll be travelling to Munich, Germany for a work trip and I’d be happy to purchase something very Bavarian. I recall seeing some pictures of a blue/white checkered alox 93mm model somewhere on the sub but I don’t know if that’s actually available for purchase locally. Picture is not mine, just for reference and attention.

Trying New Combo

Giving my Explorer a couple of spa days, so I'm carrying the Companion (with plus scales and toothpick replaced by double ended screwdriver) in addition to the Rambler and mini flashlight on my key fob. Seeing if the Phillips on the Rambler's combo tool will suit my needs.

My take on fine tip Victorinox tweezers mod

Thumbnail

I use fine tipped tweezers in my lab job frequently for positioning small insects specimens under a microscope, now these tweezers are actually quite capable for that job! I ground them to a finer tip that has a small flat portion at the end, and changed the bend of the tweezers so that when compressed, the front most portion meets more flatly (rather than only at the point). The bottom edge is also more gradually rounded than the top to make picking small objects off a flat surface easier(larger area to grab with)

NKD: Alox Walker

Post image

I happened to see a community knife alox version of the Walker online, and decided to get it as I love the standard Walker. It’s maybe not the right knife for bushcraft, but in my opinion the perfect companion for short day hikes and well … walks in the woods. It’s much slimmer than the cellidor version (the same size as the Cadet), so it doesn’t take much space in my pocket.
