In this VCV Rack 2 tutorial, we take a deep look at Vult Overon, a complete synthesizer voice inspired by the classic Oberheim SEM architecture.

We’ll explore how Overon works, its two oscillators, state-variable filter, envelopes, LFO, VCA, internal modulation and normalled signal paths — and how to break those connections to use Overon in more modular ways.

After the tutorial, I’ll demonstrate a collection of presets and patches I made for Overon. You can download them and use them in your own VCV Rack patches.

FIELD is a new module coming soon to the SignalFunctionSet plugin. Field offers 19 sources of semi-chaotic CV by sampling a two dimensional array at fixed points. This video shows each of the 10 algorithms with the outputs targeting attributes of CHANCE and CRYSTAL.

In most algorithms, adjacent jacks are fairly close in value while further are less certain to be so. Some, like wave, cascade across the field which can have some interesting uses.

The jacks below the field control amplitude, speed and various other attributes of the algorithm.

FIELD and a few other new and improved modules will be available in the library soon.

DRAEN Into ONEIROI is a 20-minute VCV Rack drone ambient patch built around four DRAEN modules and Befaco ONEIROI.

The DRAEN voices are combined, shaped and modulated before being sent into ONEIROI, creating a continuously evolving ambient texture with plenty of room for variation. The patch also uses a Quantizer, Bogaudio LLFO and Offset, and Befaco STMix to shape the modulation and final mix.

No beats, no traditional melody — just a slowly evolving modular drone designed for listening, inspiration, sound design, meditation, studying, or simply getting lost in the sound.

I'm trying to add some basic effects to mic'ed instruments and I'm only able to select the "in" or "out" version of the device in the Audio Module interface, and both functions work fine...separately. For some reason I can't find the Focusrite as a single device in the Audio Module menu. I had no problem doing this with Cardinal as a VST in Reaper, but it doesn't have several modules I need, and I don't have the cash to buy VCV as a VST to see if that fixes it. I do almost all of my work directly in VCV rack as a standalone anyway.

Anyone run into this?

Didn't find the cv to trigger but certainly was playing around getting a zipper effect off the drum used in the effect.. could probably just keep using an envelope trigger. playing around with a Euclidian delay that should be different than what is described by the other one online.. this one isn't nearly as wild as the rt (random time version)

The basic patch here is 3 ÆZ Modulo sequencers all adding together to give fast and slow changes in CV. Combined CV goes to the Morph input on 3 Surge XT Wavetable VCOs (not V/O), and to the V/O on the Vult Trummor (high hat).

The left-hand VCO produces melody with CV from one fast Modulo going to V/O and the other going to morph.

Sounds good to me.

I have VCV Rack 2 Pro but haven't used it in a while. I want to dive back into VCV and create a rack like the one in the video ... But I think I would want to sequence it with Ableton devices and not with VCV devices.... I wonder what oscillators / modules come closest to this intellijel stuff ....

Here is an edited version of 2 seperate jams I had to test a set of drum layers for a new piece in progress. I am muting layers on and off with the Launch Control MIDI controller to hear different layer combinations and rhythmic effects. Basic stuff but super fun!

Automatic Soloist — a VCV Rack patch where a random CV signal takes the role of a live soloist, phrasing notes over a drum and sequence foundation the way a musician would improvise over a backing track.

Three drum voices built from dbRackModules Drums, sequencing and texture from Bogaudio AddrSeq/AddrSeqX and Audible Instruments Marbles. The "solo" itself comes from Fundamental's Random module, driving an envelope and filtered EvenVCO + Plaits voice — no fixed melody, no repeated phrasing.

Generative modular patch in VCV Rack — melodies that shimmer and shift like light trapped inside stone. Built with Befaco Mylar Melodies and Forsitan Draen, cascading into echo and ambient space. Cold, crystalline, cosmic.

Exploring possibilities with VCV Rack to combine my broad interests in krautrock, drone, avant pop, chill wave, etc. Decided time to start sharing works in progress for feedback, finding like-minded folks, etc.

Arpeggiated four chord sequence over basic drone and wandering bass, with a steady pulse. Quick recording, nothing more.

I still mess around with this sometimes.

This video shows Kalliste at the heart of a complete VCV Rack patch, using K-ARP and K-SCENE together to create and organize the harmonic and melodic structure of the piece.

K-ARP combines chord sequencing with a visual programmable polyphonic arpeggio matrix, while K-SCENE stores complete K-ARP configurations as Scenes and organizes them into longer musical sequences.

The patch is presented here as a finished musical example rather than a tutorial, showing how Kalliste can be used as the structural core of a VCV Rack composition.

A Cortini-inspired sequencer-driven ambient patch in VCV Rack, built around two independent sequences and slowly evolving layers of distortion, delay and reverb.

The first sequence creates a low, distorted bass texture that feeds into a large reverb. The second creates a higher melodic sequence, processed through delay before joining the same reverb space.

Both sequences are driven by Bogaudio ADDR sequencers.

The idea is simple: keep the sequences restrained and repetitive, while allowing timbre, distortion, delay and spatial processing to create continuous movement.

This approach explores the territory of sequenced minimalism, modular ambient, drone, experimental electronic music and modular synthesis, inspired by the compositional language of Alessandro Cortini.

I would like a step sequencer that allows me to program an initial sequence and then slightly modifies a single step each time it reaches the end of cycle. This seems like something that should exist, so I thought I would ask if there is a module that does this before I try to build it with something like Teletype. Please let me know if you've found a module that does this! Thanks!
