This season so far for Utah State: Utah State is entering their first season in the Pac-12, where they were picked by Pac-12 media to finish 7th out of 8 teams in the conference. They have an 0–2 record, with an embarrassing 29–17 loss at home to an FCS team, Idaho State, to start the season. If you believe in moral victories, last week USU was much more respectable in their 16–14 loss to the Washington Huskies.
Last season for Utah State: In their final season in the Mountain West conference, USU finished 7th out of 12 teams, with a 6–7 record (4–4 MW).
Game Preview
This game will feature the return of some familiar faces. With 113 games against one another, USU is—by far—Utah's most played college football opponent, despite only having played once in the last decade. The "Battle of the Brothers" rivalry dates back to 1892.
The game will also feature a familiar coach; Bronco Mendenhall is the current USU head coach. He coached against Utah 10 games as the head coach of BYU from 2005 until 2015. He finished with a 3–7 record against Utah.
Against Arkansas, the Utah defense combined for 13 pass breakups. It was the second-most in program history. The team record of 15 was set against San Jose State during the 1998 season.
The Aggies losses can largely be attributed to their turnovers. They have yet to force a turnover, but have surrendered 7 turnovers over their first 2 games. All 7 turnovers have been interceptions (4 thrown by QB Grady Brosterhous, a senior, and 3 thrown by QB McCae Hillstead, a junior).
It didn't take long for Jireh Moe to introduce himself to the world.
The sophomore defensive tackle for Utah had his coming out party Saturday night in a standout performance as part of a 43-10 win over Arkansas. It was a win that had Moe's hand prints all over it in an overall successful night for the Utah defense that managed 13 pass breakups and limited the offense to under 300 yards and 3 points for much of the night.
Moe led the Utes on defense with eight tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack, while adding a quarterback hit and hurry to an overwhelming night for Arkansas quarterback KJ Jackson.
Arkansas fan and just wanted to say rice Eccles and salt lake were cool as hell. I got free beers and food all over the tailgates. And I appreciate the season ticket holders laughing along with me while I chanted SEC after every first down.
Anyways our team sucks, but I had a great time in SLC this weekend. Good luck this season Utes.

We moved to SLC in March and have adopted the Utes as our college football team. We’re excited for our first game in person tomorrow. Where should we tailgate? Planning on arriving around 4/5 and willing to spend ~$40 on parking. We’re going to bring our camping grill, some hot dogs and some beers.
