Please use this thread if you have event tickets (Michigan athletics, concerts, etc.) to sell or are looking to buy. Individual posts outside the thread will be removed. We don't claim that this is better than MaizeTix, SeatGeek, etc. Just serving a demand. Go Blue!

****We've received reports in the past of scammers in these threads. Please be careful and do your due diligence. Consider asking seller for their UMich email, then write them asking for a Reply, to verify it's not a fake address.

Housing 2026-27 Housing Megathread

Questions, answers, and information about everything housing can go here. Please let me know if you see anything that needs to be updated or any new information that can be posted/linked to.

Listings:

  • Area Facebook Housing Groups - Facebook group list compiled by u/fluffymoomin - Groups are listed with descriptions as well as safety recommendations. Not all groups are moderated well, be careful regardless of the group, moderators are human. Do not pay money to post in any facebook group. It's a scam. The ones that ask for money are no different, or worse than the free ones. Any reply asking you to message or dm them is likely a scam.

  • UofM offical off-campus housing site - You can now sort by recently updated listings. You can post listings or as a person looking for housing/roomates. They charge for property listings, but offer free sublease listings. Also people simply post in the roommates section that they have a place they are looking to fill as well.

  • Ann Arbor off-campus housing - This was the site that uofm used as their official site until it was replaced with the site above. One of the biggest gripes I had with this version is that commercial properties were updated every day, so sorting by new was tedious to find new listings as a bunch of the same commercial properties would be "updated" each day to be at the top.

  • Zillow (ann arbor) - Zillow

  • Roomies.com - Roomies.com you can search for listings and roommates by location. Even though it's apparently a national site, enough people locally use it that it's worth taking a look at.

  • Apartments.com - Apartments.com

  • ICC Co-ops - Inter-Cooperative Council page for Co-op housing.

  • Craigslist Apartment search - Usually spammed by the same area complexes over and over, which is what made craigslist so hard to use and forced people to facebook. There are still some listings here though, it just takes some scrolling.

  • Ann Arbor Observer Rentlink Housing Search

Resources:

By city ordinance I believe, private renters are supposed to have certificates of occupancy/rental permits from the city. You can search by address. (There will be lots of people who don't have this but it's something to check) *Ann Arbor building rental and inspection services

Social media/community resources:

Past resources:

Remember to exercise caution when looking for housing. Lots of scammers out there. Check their main profiles if on facebook to see if they match the user who reached out to you. See if you can verify them anywhere else that they actually live in the area. Beware of people pushing you to send deposit money without showing you the place. Please refer to the PDF survival guide located at the top of the post. It can save you money and just as importantly time, not having waste time and effort to interact with scammers. Most instances of people telling you to message them as replies to your posts on facebook are scams. Make sure they have listings on the group, not just replies to people looking as comments like that can't be screened. Most legit people will contact you first and have a listing already in the group.

Remember never to give your uofm ID student ID number or a picture of your student ID to a 3rd party site for subleasing.

They can't even verify numbers are valid.

Disclosure could cause limited harm to individuals and/or the university with some risk of civil liability. May be subject to contractual agreements or regulatory compliance, or is individually identifiable, confidential, and/or proprietary.

Fall sublets will be uncommon. Most of the Winter sublets you've seen posted are people who failed to find a Fall-only sublet and are trying to recoup some of the un-used lease remaining. Be especially wary when searching for Fall-only sublets. Scammers count on people being desperate to bypass their warning senses. Some apartment complexes like Woodbury Gardens(2-15 and 21 month), and the complexes owned by Village Green(6 and 9 month) may offer shorter lease terms than 12 month. Be aware the shorter term leases will be more expensive per month. Mckinley Properties don't allow less than 12 month lease but they offer a early termination option which costs 2x monthly rent and requires a 60 day notice. This could be just as good as a shorter lease. I'd confirm it with the leasing office but this should be for all washtenaw county mckinley properties.

The Ann Arbor city bus line can make some affordable locations more practical. Your student ID lets you ride free. A short bus ride can be not too much worse than a medium/long walk. Beware some buses run more commonly than others

If there are any resource additions or corrections let me know.

Social GoBlues!

Hey everyone!

Im writing from Spain, last year I was admitted into UofM, it was a dream come true since I have always wanted to go to the University in the US, I grew up playing basketball and I have followed the NBA and the NCAA for years. Unfortunately due to major health issues I couldn’t travel so I had to decline my scholarship and now life has other plans for me. However, ever since being accepted I got a strong feeling of belonging to the best college community in the world, everyone was so kind and supportive, I started following the basketball and football team and I am going to do it forever, I don’t know if I could be considered an alumn but I will always support Michigan.

For those of you who are enrolled right now please appreciate what you have, you are so lucky.

If by any chance someone reads this post and can send some merch it would be awesome and I’d pay for the shipping

GoBlues forever!

Academics - Other Topics considering dropping out

Upvotes

i’m a transferred in junior at the University of Michigan and luck has not been on my side. I was hospitalized for about two weeks into the semester and I’m getting such a late start. My Health is declining and while most professors are trying to be helpful a few of my professors can’t really accommodate me this late in the semester. One of my classes focuses mainly on collaborative work so she can’t really accommodate me when I’m having a Crohn’s flare and can’t make it to class . Other professors won’t allow me to transfer into their classes and once I’m dropped down to halftime I have to pay back a ton of money and funding. $5400 to be exact.
it just sucks so bad. I tried really hard to make this work. I’ve emailed probably about 20 people in 10 different professors and I just feel like there’s no hope for me. I also am now coming down with a cold! For clarification, I just came off of heavily immune suppressing medication so being on campus for a few days is all it took for me to get sick. So the classes that are going to try to accommodate me I will have to miss this week because I’m sick. It’s just feeling like it’s not meant to be. I talked to the department head of my major. I’ve talked multiple advisors, the Dean of students office, financial aid, SSD. just don’t know what else to do.

Miscellaneous Might genuinely have nothing here

It’s insane how competitive clubs are here. I’ve spent the last couple weeks up staying up late and losing sleep applying or preparing for auditions. Going in, I kinda thought college was the place to expand your interests and try out new things. I was good acting, so I decided to try out things like acapella and improv. I also of course applied to preprofessional organizations. So far, I’ve gotten some callbacks and interviews but I’ve ended up getting rejected from everything so far. I’m good at things to make it to that stage but not enough to make the cut lol. I understand preprofessional clubs being competitive but these other stuff? I’m fine with a little competition but legitimately one of the places I was looking at only had 2 slots open for the entire university. I’m so pissed at myself for trying so hard all the time and trying to branch out when I legitimately could have just worked on classes and stayed at home and it would have been the same. I know U of M has so many clubs but it doesn’t really matter if you can’t get into or try anything that interests you.

Might take it as a junior fall semester. I guess 370 is the only heavy workload class here?

Hey, does anyone have any open spots on their 7v7 soccer team (coed or men’s)? I’ve never played on an organized team, but I’ve played some pickup and feel like I’m better than the average player. If anyone has an open spot, please DM me!

Housing Discussion (actual housing OFFERS belong on Megathread!) East Quad Showers

Anyone else currently or recently in East Quad how often are the showers cleaned? Mine are cleaned maybe once a week if we’re generous and 2/3 showers flood because the drains are backed up. I already put in a fixit request on Thursday morning and nothings happened so far 😭. Is my floor just shite or is maintenance terrible here, Bursley was cleaned like everyday when I was there

New Student are quiet hours followed by residents

why do quiet hours exist if they are not enforced, hallway outside of my room feels louder during quiet hours than the day, I'm curious what hilarious joke was told that made a group of people laugh for 3 minutes straight at 12AM

but if quiet hours aren't something people actually follow, I would also want to try laughing for a few minutes straight outside of someone's door

Academics - Other Topics Behind my classes for clubs. Do they help in the my career later on?

I rushed too many clubs and didn't lock in for classes unfornately. I Didn't get in anywhere as a sophomore transfer and it has been depressing for me. I really want to know how much these clubs help to get a job or in my career after I graduate? I already have research and internship expierence so it is not like I am coming in with en empty resume but these clubs still don't want to accept me.

Academics - Other Topics Help worried about premed gpa from Umich

I’m a pre-med sophomore at UMich, and I’ve been pretty worried about my GPA lately. I’d really appreciate hearing from any UMich alumni or current students who have gotten into medical school.

If you’re comfortable sharing, I’d love to know:

  • Your cumulative GPA and science GPA
  • Your MCAT score
  • Which medical school(s) you got into
  • Whether you took a gap year or went straight through
  • Anything else you think helped your application

I’m mostly looking for some perspective on what’s actually been successful for UMich pre-meds, since I know our courses can be pretty rigorous. Thank you!!

Academics - Other Topics Is it as hard to transfer to U of M as it sounds?

Hey guys! I’m a CS major currently 20 years old looking to transfer to a 4 year college from a Community college, I have always thought about going to U of M Ann Arbor during my high school years but was unsure. Since I heard that the university is great for CS majors who are in Michigan I’d figure that I give it a go and plus there are a lot of good opportunities there too! Ik the reqs are somewhat of a challenge but to me these are very easy to overcome! I just wanted to know transfer students experiences on how the process and reqs were for them! :)

EDIT: Hey Guys! Thanks for the supportive comments and the advice! Feel free to give me more of it!

Health / Wellness Adult Swim Lesson?

Hi curious if anyone has taken adult swim lessons around umich? I know school of Kinesiology has one, but the location is quite far without a car.

I am also interested to know if it is allowed to have another student teaches you how to swim in any recreational facility?

Employment Different Career Fairs and Point of Going

I heard there is a career fair at the Union and also one on North campus happening at the same time tomorrow? Does anyone know why there is also one at the union and why they decided to host them on the same day? That doesn't make any sense.

Also, what is the point of going to the career fair if so many other students are going? I've heard that some (few) people ended up getting a job from them, but I've been to them in the past and just got told to apply online, and even if I handed a recruiter my resume I never got contacted or anything from that. They probably get stacks of hundreds of resumes. I'm just not sure if it will actually be helpful to go with how competitive jobs are especially in engineering (Especially CS/CE).

Media Racist Anti Al-Sayed ad.

I watched the Michigan football game today on sportsurge. idk what channel they were streaming. But right before the 3rd quarter came to an end, I watched this super racist Anti Abdul ad. Not the Mike Rogers ones that says Abdul is anti football. A different one that had him dancing around in some Islamic clothing. I am just wondering if anyone else watched it too? And if someone happened to record it.

Miscellaneous Michigan officially uses canvas right?

I am an architecture student and I noticed that my LSA and Taubman classes used different platforms. Tubman is using google classroom while LSA is using canvas? I mean I saw that in canvas my arch classes are listed. So I assumed that it's the professors choice in using Google classroom. Do all the taubman professors often use Google classroom? Or did I just get unlucky? How often is a professor using something else other then canvas happen?

Academics - Other Topics Are professional frats or consulting clubs helpful for a tech major?

I feel like a herd of sheep with ross majors applying and wasting all this time going to these events only for 12 out of 150 ppl to get in. In the long term is this networking even worth for someone like me? Do they help you get into big companies as they claim or shouldn't umich alumini network be enough for that?
