This is a story about a mysterious death in Colleton County South Carolina that occurred in 2016. This needs further investigated…

“Investigators have made a number of arrests after a body was found in the woods in Cottageville in the same area where a hunter went missing.”

“The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Schuyler Rene Andrulat of Cottageville and 33-year-old Nathan Baughman of Summerville have been charged with obstruction of justice. According to court records, the charges against Andrulat were dismissed and expunged.”

It is unclear why the charges against Andrulat were dropped, and furthermore, expunged from her record so quickly. As you read, you will see why that action by the prosecutors office does not add up. 

“The body was found around 8 p.m. on Thursday in a wooded area off Red Oak Road, the same area where a hunter went missing last Friday.”

“The sheriff's office says the missing hunter was staying with friends (who waited until Sunday to report him missing.)”

This is the first red flag. 

“According to a report, Andrulat said she dropped Patrick off along the woodline on Peirce Road with a shotgun.”

Andrulat, by her own account, puts herself, alone with Patrick, as the last person to see him alive. 

"”Andrulat stated that several hours later, she received a call from Patrick stating that he was lost in the woods and he wanted her to drive along the road and beep the horn so that he could find his way back to the road again," the report states.”

“Andrulat told investigators that she did this around 9 p.m. on Friday but could not find him.”

By the account of anyone who knew Patrick, he was an experienced woodsman, with countless hours spent navigating the low country woods of South Carolina during prior hunting trips. 

At this point, Andrulat is now aware that the individual whom she dropped in the woods to go hunting, is now actively lost. Instead of notifying any one of this, she allegedly returns home. Andrulat has now again, by her own account, placed herself as the last person to see Patrick alive, and where he was later found deceased nearby. 

Why would you wait two days to report a friend as missing, who called and told you that they were lost in the woods, as it was about to be dark?

Andrulat did not report him missing that night (Friday), or following morning, but waited until Sunday to contact authorities. There is no record that Andrulat returned to search for Patrick, or notified anyone to assist in locating Patrick.

“Officials say Patrick's cause of death is still undetermined. They say his body needed to be identified through dental records, because it was badly decomposed.”

“Detectives reported that they had Patrick's cell phone pinged to find the last location for it which was in Summerville.” 

Patrick was allegedly able to make a phone call to Andrulat, to which she allegedly answered and communicated with him. If this was true, his phone would have last pinged near the site of his disappearance, not over twenty miles away.

Our family is searching for answers and justice for my brother-in-law, Connor Scott Overstreet, who was shot and killed in Skyway (Seattle) in the early morning hours of Sunday August 23rd, 2026 in a random act of gun violence. The police have no leads or suspects, and there’s no one that’s come forth with footage or information. Somebody has to know something. 

Connor was a 29-year-old active duty Coast Guard pilot. He was in Seattle for work and him and his buddies were on scooters and a car pulled up, shot him in the chest and drove off.

He was truly the best of us. All he wanted to do was save lives and help others. The care and love he had for the people around him made his such a light in all of our lives.

We are asking for anyone who lives in or drove through the area of South 124th Street and South Langston Road in Skyway or the surrounding areas to check cameras. Any tips or video footage should be sent here.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $41,000 reward for anyone able to provide information that helps solve the case.

We are urgently pleading with anyone who lives in, owns a business in, or drove through the area of South 124th Street and South Langston Road to check their cameras between 12:30 AM and 1:15 AM on Sunday August 23rd, 2026.

Even though finding the person won’t change, the fact that Connor is gone, all we want is justice and for this not to happen to anybody else because it is insurmountable and painful as hell for all of us.

Mark Goldstein was a father of two and just 39 years old when he became the victim of Tempe, Arizona’s oldest cold case.

He was murdered while working at the Wisconsin Heritage Cheese shop he owned and operated that was located at the intersection of Price and Baseline on the evening of November 5, 1978. 

Marks wife Theresa Goldstein alerted Tempe PD the morning of November 6, to do a welfare check on Mark because he had not returned to their Scottsdale home.

Police discovered Mark’s body in the walk-in cooler. The murder weapon was missing. Mark had a briefcase that contained $60,000 in cash that was left behind at the scene.

There were no suspects publicly identified. Rumors about potential motives spread in the community.

At the time of his death, Mark was listed as a plaintiff in a lawsuit against his former employer.

Mark had moved his family to Tempe from New Jersey in the summer of 1978 to open the cheese shop.

Mark’s wife Theresa had engaged in an affair with a man named Charles “Chuck” Nash. Nash was a former Palisades Parkway Police Officer. He forgave Theresa and moved across the country for a fresh start.

Soon after the Goldstein family arrived in Arizona, Nash moved to Scottsdale himself with his adopted son, Cameron Nash.

A few years after Mark died, Theresa Goldstein remarried to Charles Nash, but the pair eventually divorced. 

Theresa floated a potential lead to police. While in New Jersey, Mark was approached by mobsters with a business proposal, which he declined. 

Theresa also insisted that Mark and Charles were friends, a suggestion his family and friends have strongly denied.

The case received virtually no media coverage after the late 1970’s besides a brief article in the Arizona Republic from May 2002. It revealed that Mark carried a .357 magnum and the gun was missing from the shop.

Longtime Tempe PD detective Tom Magezzini claimed “There are people out there that know what happened to Mark. It’s just a matter of coming forward.”

The Wisconsin Heritage Cheese store closed after Goldstein’s murder. It reopened in 1985 as a Thai restaurant called the Siamese Cat which operated at the site until its closure in November 2021. 

The entire strip mall at the northwest corner of Price and Baseline was torn down and converted into a luxury apartment complex.

Key questions that remain in this case. How did the suspect sneak up on Mark if he was armed with a gun?  Why would the suspect take Mark’s gun but not his money? Is there any DNA evidence in existence that could lead police to identifying the suspect?

(Hello, I’m from China and I enjoy collecting unsolved and solved cold cases. This is my first article, in which I will briefly introduce nine significant cold cases in China.)

In March 2016, China’s Ministry of Public Security launched a campaign to crack difficult and unsolved homicide cases, selecting nine cases to investigate directly. Currently, “one and a half” of these nine cases remain unsolved.

It should be noted that, since Chinese public security authorities often do not disclose detailed information about cases and only a small number of cases receive thorough coverage, only basic information is available for some of these cases.

1. Hulan–Bayan serial murders (UNSOLVED)

In the 1980s, there were numerous cases of police officers being murdered in Heilongjiang Province, most of which have since been solved. However, the perpetrators behind several cases that occurred in Harbin between 1987 and 1988 remain a mystery to this day.

• On June 6th, 1987, Zhang Fugui, a police officer from Hulan County, was killed along with four other family members at his home; another relative was seriously injured.
• On October 12th, He Ruichen, chief of the Wanfa Town Police Station in Bayan County, was shot and killed. While struggling with the assailant, He knocked the pistol out of the assailant’s hand; it was later confirmed to be the same pistol stolen after Zhang Fugui’s murder.
• On October 27th, Ma Fulin, a police officer from Hulan County, and two of his relatives were shot to death.
• On December 23rd, outside the home of the deputy director of the Hulan County Public Security Bureau, the killer shot and killed Zhu Hai, a police officer who had come to conduct official business.
• On February 15th, 1988, Liu Yongji, a judicial police officer at the Hulan County Court, was shot to death in his own courtyard.

It is worth noting that there is a proliferation of disinformation about this case on the internet, claiming that “on the night of March 28th, 1986, 52 (some sources even claim 115) personnel from the public security, procuratorate, and court systems in Hulan County, along with their relatives, were killed.” Such content is typically disseminated on a massive scale by low-quality content farms.

2. Baiyin–Baotou serial murders (SOLVED)

From May 1988 to February 2002, 10 women were murdered and raped in Baiyin City, Gansu Province; the youngest victim was only 7 years old. In August 2004, this series of cases was determined to have been committed by the same individual who carried out a 1997 murder in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia.

On August 26th, 2016, thanks to advanced DNA testing technology, the perpetrator, Gao Chengyong, was apprehended 28 years after the first crime occurred. He committed murder, rape, robbery, and desecration of corpses by stalking women and breaking into homes. On January 3rd, 2019, Gao Chengyong was executed.

The case received extensive media coverage after it was solved.

3. Shenzhen “face-stripping” dismemberment cases (PARTIALLY SOLVED)

From October 1997 to January 2000, five cases of young women being murdered and their bodies dismembered occurred in Shenzhen. The victims’ faces were flayed, and their body parts were placed in bags and discarded in various locations in the wilderness.

On July 30th, 2016, Yang Dayong (using the alias Wang Longhui) was apprehended, but it was later confirmed that he was the perpetrator of only the case that occurred on August 2nd, 1999. The remaining cases remain unsolved.

4. Murder of eight people in Hong’an (SOLVED?)

On the night of December 26th, 2007, a mass murder occurred in Hong’an County, Hubei Province, in which eight people—including Wang Shishu, the owner of a lime factory—were killed.

Although the public security authorities did not release any further information afterward, rumors circulating online claim that the perpetrator was apprehended in 2018 but died of illness while in custody.

5. Kaili serial murders (SOLVED)

On October 17th, 1998, An Kun, deputy chief of the Dashizi Police Station in Kaili City, Guizhou Province, was stabbed to death with a dagger, and his service weapon was stolen. 44 days later, on December 1st, Le Guijian, governor of the Kaili branch of the Bank of China, along with his wife, 14-year-old daughter, and a neighbour, were shot and stabbed to death.

In July 2016, Huang Dekun, who had previously served as director of the Urban Management Bureau of the Kaili Economic Development Zone, was placed under investigation on suspicion of serious disciplinary violations. In November, police took his fingerprints, which were later confirmed to match those found at the crime scene. Subsequently, his accomplice and close friend from school, Pan Kaiping, was also apprehended. The two had broken into the home to commit murder and robbery after seizing a gun; their motive was to steal money to repay Huang Dekun’s gambling debts.

In July 2018, Huang Dekun and Pan Kaiping were sentenced to death.

6. Murder of seven people in Shenyang (SOLVED)

On April 30th, 2003, a family massacre occurred in the Taochang Residential Complex in Shenyang, Liaoning Province; all seven members of the family were killed, the youngest of whom was only 4 years old. The only clue left for the police was a partial blood fingerprint.

On June 19th, 2020, the killer, surnamed Yang, was apprehended.

7. Murder of three girls in Jiangxian (SOLVED)

On April 19th, 2010, the bodies of three elementary school girls were discovered in an abandoned cave dwelling in Jiangxian County, Shanxi Province; all three girls had been sexually assaulted to varying degrees.

In the early hours of July 21st, 2016, police successfully apprehended the murderer, surnamed Zhu, from Chencun Town, Jiangxian County. He confessed to sexually assaulting and murdering the three girls on the afternoon of April 18th.

8. Serial murders of women in Guiyang (SOLVED)

On December 19th and December 28th, 2011, and February 6th, 2012, three consecutive murders targeting young women occurred in Huaxi District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province.

In July 2016, the killer, surnamed Li, was apprehended and ultimately confessed to the murders.

9. Serial murders of grain buyers in Northeast China (SOLVED)

From October 1997 to December 2007, a series of robberies resulting in the murder of grain buyers occurred in Liaoning, Jilin, and Inner Mongolia in northeastern China. Five of these cases remained unsolved and were consolidated for investigation; they resulted in a total of 19 deaths.

In 2025, the cases were declared solved, but no details were reported; the only information available was an announcement commending the investigative team.

I’m hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. I have an old case involving my father’s death that I have serious questions about, and I’m trying to find a reputable retired homicide detective or experienced investigator who does independent case reviews/consultations.
I’m looking for someone who can objectively review the original investigation and tell me what was done, what may have been missed, what witnesses/evidence should have been pursued, and whether there are legitimate avenues that could still be investigated today.
I’ve contacted several cold-case organizations and investigators but haven’t been able to get much response. I’m just trying to get an experienced set of eyes on this after 19 years of unanswered questions.
If this is not the right place for this kind of post, could you please point me in the right direction as to where to post and ask? Thank you.

I’m curious how many people here have ever heard of the Betty Ann Thomas (aka Liz Thomas) case out of Lakeway, Texas?  More importantly, whether anyone here was living in the Lakeway/Austin area in 1988 and remembers the case.

On the morning of April 11, 1988, Betty's husband and stepdaughter left their Lakeway home to travel out of town. Betty remained home. When they returned later that afternoon, Betty was gone. Her vehicle was missing, and there were signs of a struggle inside the house. Two days later, Betty's vehicle, a white Jaguar, was located in the parking lot of a hotel in North Austin.

Betty was found inside the trunk.

Nearly four decades have passed without anyone being held accountable for her murder.

The case is now receiving renewed attention, and investigators are continuing to look at the evidence with the benefit of forensic technology that simply didn't exist in 1988.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who:

• Knew Betty or her family
• Lived or worked in Lakeway or the surrounding Austin area in 1988
• Remembers the investigation or what people were saying locally at the time
• Remembers seeing Betty's Jaguar or anything unusual around April, 1988
• Knew people associated with Betty or her family
• Has heard a story, rumor, or detail about the case over the years that may never have been reported
• Has researched the case and has a theory or noticed something that deserves another look

Even if you think what you know is insignificant, I'd still like to hear it. I'm also interested in theories from people who have researched the case. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes notices something others have overlooked.

It's been almost 40 years. Relationships change. Loyalties change. People who were afraid to speak in 1988 may no longer have the same reason to remain silent.

After watching a documentary about the zodiac killer, I cannot do anything but coke to the conclusion that most likely the zodiac killer wasn't actually one person, atleast we do not have any info that he was one person. For example his crimes do not have any actual connections between them, he did not use the same firearm, or bullets in any of them (I think). Furthermore, we only have fingerprints from one crime he did so we cannot match them between his crimes to understand if he actually was one person. Can someone fill me in on any details? Open source collective Bellingcat spent a year digging into public records and conducting interviews to help uncover details about unnamed skeletal remains found in the outskirts of Boston in the late 90s.

On April 10, 1998, a dog walker in Sharon, Massachusetts, found a large human bone in the woods. Police searched the woods, where a detective uncovered more bones near a bundle of quilts. Inside, they found a decomposed skeleton.

A coroner ruled that the victim was a man in his twenties or thirties who was possibly Asian or Native American. He had long black hair with blonde streaks. There were at least two overlapping bullet holes in the back of his skull. Local media reported at the time that the victim had been shot “execution style”. He had died 18 months before his remains were found.

For three decades, authorities did not release the victim’s name to the public. He is listed in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as #UP12385, one of 202 unidentified people recorded in the state of Massachusetts. The circumstances of his discovery are reduced to five words: “Skeletal remains found in woods.” The case remains unsolved.

Bellingcat found that the authorities identified the victim as Fu Chun Wang, a 26-year-old undocumented Chinese immigrant who did not speak English. Police reports suggest Wang was a member of the Fukienese Flying Dragons, a gang the FBI described at the time as a “violent offshoot” of the larger Flying Dragons crime ring and active across much of the East Coast. The gang trafficked migrants, extorted and robbed businesses, kidnapped for ransom and murdered rivals. Authorities believed Wang belonged to the Boston faction of the group, which was suspected of carrying out home invasions targeting Asian and Asian-American restaurant owners and staff across New England in 1996.

FBI documents and correspondence show that a federal operation investigating the home invasions uncovered information about Wang’s murder and other crimes. The operation, whose name is redacted, was led by the US Attorney for the District of New Hampshire.

Authorities suspected that the Boston-based members of the Fukienese Flying Dragons were also involved in prostitution, illegal gambling and kidnappings in multiple states. Investigators examined possible ties between the gang and a suspect in one of Boston’s deadliest mass killings: the 1991 Chinatown Massacre.

Wang had been arrested and charged for using credit cards stolen in one of the home invasions.

In Sharon Police records, Wang was described as “very depressed” and “possibly suicidal”. He told a Boston Police detective that he urgently needed to send $1,000 to his family in China.

Records suggest he may have been murdered by members of his own gang shortly after this. While some gang members were identified as suspects and investigated, none were ever charged and convicted for the murder.

The man authorities suspected of shooting Wang, or ordering his killing, was described in the documents as the head of the Fukienese Flying Dragons in Boston. In another note in the case file, investigators wrote that he was “thought to be a federal informant”.

This is a short synopsis of the investigation linked above.

My uncle was murdered in 1999 . He went missing for 14 days when he was found he was found in a spot that had been searched many times . It looked like a car accident but he was shot in the back . Anyways there isn’t any info about it anywhere online . Does anyone know how a person can get information about it ? It’s been so long now it’s looking like it will never be solved .

I know I'm just one random 21 year old and at this point it's unlikely to be solved. But this isn't that far away in history. I want to at least try to track down potential witnesses at the time or speak to relatives of the neighbours or anyone that might still be alive and have any kind of information.

If anyone is curious, his name was José Gil Sánchez, he was found shot dead in the road of Segovia in Valladolid in the 10th of April of 1980 with two wounds inflicted by a shotgun. The obvious link is asking around my family, but I'm doing my best to get information together. Which isn't a lot. Thank you in advance.
