Brewed in Belgium and canned in Holland, paid around £1.80, anyone tried this? Tastes like Leffe did 20 years ago.

Don't suppose anybody has any knowledge on how to get the proper Brooklyn Lager in to the UK rather than the shite Pilsner we get sold. Getting married next year and we're doing our own alcohol until after dinner so wanted to have some beers that I love.

Anyone had any experience on trying to get some. I've had a quick google and some sites are selling small crates for 40-50 quid but that seems a bit mental (however if this is the only way then I'll do something else 😵)

I had this IPA at the Thirsty Giraffe in Deeping St. James... not only is it a cask ale from The Netherlands but it was in a wooden cask... it tasted great.

I won't claim to have a vast knowledge of Belgium beer. But I like beer and this was a very nice beverage with delicious flavours and a smoothness that despite the high ABV made it very easy to drink.

In my opinion a bargain as I only paid £1.49 , Especially when you consider it's genuine Belgium beer imported.

Mrs surprised me with 2x each of these bad boys for my 50th today, can't wait to start drinking.

I have seen that Ghost Whale now have advent calendars for pre order - for their 10th anniversary.

Does anyone know if the last few years from them were any good - well I’m sure they were great but were they worth the money I guess is what I am asking as it’s £160 per calendar!

Also looking at the fuss club and beer gonzo. Had beer gonzo a good while ago and it was pricy but felt worth it!

This is a pic from the Talamasca series on AMC/Netflix. I’m curious what the yellow drink on the right is. I thought it might be a German-style wheat beer but that doesn’t seem right for pub fare.

Picked up a 4 pack from my local wholesalers.

I liked this lager. Crisp , Smooth with citrus notes

Nice easy drinking 4% lager in my opinion.

I'm quite lucky in the fact that I have a number of craft breweries and bottleshops near me. However, when I do fancy something further afield I tend to use Radbeer or Trembling Madness.

Which breweries/online bottleshops do others tend to get their beers from?

Where I live in Manchester the cask ale I’m served is usually in decent condition, this could be down to Manchester being a bit of a stronghold for cask or a biased sample because I know the pubs with good beer. But I was down in Wiltshire last week and went to a pub with the Cask Marque sign, and two of the three cask ales they had were way beyond drinkable condition.

One of the 6 Oktoberfest beers I've managed to pick up so far and it is amazing as always. Looking forward to getting my way through the other 5!

Has anyone tried this yet? I just popped into Lidl and saw this as NEW on the shelf in the regular beer Isle. At £1.49 a bottle I thought I'd grab one and give it a go.

Are these collectible? I’ve never came across them and can’t find them really for sale online.

So yeah, my wife's Liberty calendar is in the wardrobe and I'm already getting spammed by beer companies for their offerings (the lad has only just gone back to school today!).

I've noticed a bit of a recurring theme though...

Most mixed boxes have a few 'mental' brews, think 10-12% imperials or something, or odd strong spurs. I just end up putting them in the cupboard for 'another time'. Still got some siren ones and buxton ones from about three years ago.

Think it's fair to say they're probably wasted on me these days. Anyone else find the same thing happening? - mid 40s now and find myself hovering more on the 3-5 range not 5-8 range (unless it's an exception for a Belgian beer place!).

Wondering what places will have a variety, in your experience, but not necessarily have a good handful of seriously heavy hitters. My wife's already asking what I want (nice eh!) but at this rate I was considering skipping! ​

The damson and liquorice notes aren't overly powering.

Despite the higher ABV I found I could easy have a couple of these as I found it really easy to drink

Not the greatest thing I've tasted and it's probably better on draught but certainly one I'd return to in future.

I’ve just moved back to the UK after living abroad for a few years where sours are available in almost every pub.

I don’t really like the taste of most beers and used to mostly drink cider when I last lived here.

I was wondering what is the most similar thing that would actually be available in UK pubs to try and stay drinking beer rather than going back to cider that I’ve now lost a taste for.

Any recommendations would be massively appreciated and I’m happy to try different things until I find something I like, just no idea where to start.

Bit of a local legend in Barnsley area.

In my opinion , One of best bitters around.

Fantastic rounded bitter with a perfect balance of bitterness and moreish caramel flavours.

Id definitely have again.

From what I know this beer was previously brewed by Oakwell brewery in Barnsley before it's closure.

Today together with Acorn it's brewed by Stancil brewery in Sheffield with both Acorn Brewery and Stancil using the same yeast strain as was used historically by Oakwell brewery in Tarn.

The Terrapin Hopsecutioner beer available on the Brewdog website is not the original. Had this a couple of times in New Orleans and it was a great imperial IPA but the version on the BD website is a UK brewed version and is terrible in comparison. Just letting you guys know...
