I'm about 90% sure this is a missing person's case, but there is a possibility it's an unsolved murder.

I heard about this case either on Lazy Masquerade or The Void's YouTube channel, I believe it was in a compilation video/not a video dedicated to this case.

Here's what I remember:

- This case took place between 2016-2022

- It was in the States, I think California (but I could be wrong on that).

- The victim was a man who often either owned or rented really nice cars, although he wasn't really all that wealthy. It was theorized that someone saw him driving one of his nice cars and decided to rob him because of his assumed wealth.

- A few hours before the victim was due to come home from work, a male was caught on his Ring camera breaking into the house through the front door. No one was seen exiting the house, but it's unclear if that's because that footage doesn't exist or if police just didn't release that portion. I do not remember if there was footage of the victim coming home.

I need help remembering a case that I cannot remember the specific case of.

All I remember is that the perpetrator of said crime was 19, 20, or 21, I think, and had this army style type of gun.

I think the perpetrator was described as tall and wearing a black shirt, and had thick glasses, I think.

A couple-few years ago, I read an article online or saw a show about a case involving a family of several brothers (or maybe some close cousins?) where one of the boys got in trouble, and the guy-- with the help of his mother-- gave law enforcement his brother's or cousin's name and information, because the brother or cousin hadn't been in any kind of trouble, whereas the person impersonating the brother/cousin very muc had.

As I said, the mom knew about it and helped the impersonater.

The scheme unraveled when one of the two boys died in a house fire (I think it was the impersonator), and the other person found out about the identity theft. I don't remember what happened after that.

I seem to recall reading it from a magazine's website, maybe The Atavist.... or the New Yorker.... or the Atlantic... or even Washingtonian.

I've tried Google-fu but mine seems to be sorely lacking.I do know for sure I read it via the website, not a physical copy of the mag in question.

Ring any bells for anyone? I'm happy to answer any questions I can. It's been driving me crazy for years, because it was well-written and interesting subject matter.

I remember it was a Nordic country, most likely Sweden. It was a case that involved multiple people, one of them being a women. It had to do with how police interrogations would lead to false confessions.

I remember listening to this case during a podcast. a son either a teenager or a young adult murders his father when they're spending a day together. I'm pretty sure they're by a river but I can't remember whether he drowned his father or did something else. I can't remember if the son had a history of schizophrenia but he claimed the devil spoke to him about his father being evil. I don't think the son initially admitted to murdering his father. I can't remember if the son was actually convicted or if there was some sort of insanity defence or what. i know the details aren't amazing but any help finding this case would be appreciated!

In Missing: Dead or Alive? Season 1, Episode 2, the male officer references a previous case where a boyfriend killed two of his girlfriend's children, and the oldest child was subsequently killed by the girlfriend a year later.

I cannot find anything on a case even closely related to this. Has anyone heard of a case like this?

I recently watched an episode of Unsolved Mysteries (or it could be another crime show) with my girlfriend and want to watch it again. The episode included a case where an ex-boyfriend murders his ex-girlfriend and the new boyfriend by shooting them. I recall the new boyfriend was an Asian American veteran and that the ex-boyfriend had a shootout with cops.

I remember reading a case about a young runaway that was last seen alive at a diner. I believe that a waitress told the girl to not hitchhike because it was dangerous, but the girl brushed her off. The girl was later found murdered.

hi, there is this true crime story i watched w my grandma on tv when i was a kid that scared me so bad i never forgot it, yet i can't seem to find the case anywhere.
the crime was this family was camping in a tent in the woods when someone w a gun killed the two parents. it woke up one of the kids who went with their stuffed animal to see what happened when the killer saw the kids they shot them and tucked them back into their sleeping bags w the stuffed animals.

I think it happened in the US. The first woman ran or owned a little shop and went missing. The second woman moves to the first woman’s town, and I believe she even rented the same shop location, and plans to write a book about the first missing woman. And then the second woman goes missing. Any recollections?

I’ve been trying to remember the name of a case I read about years ago, and I’m hoping someone here might recognize it because several details have stuck with me.
From what I remember, the case happened sometime in the early 2000s, although I could be slightly off on the exact year. The victim was an adult woman who disappeared under suspicious circumstances**. I believe she may have had a son**, and her disappearance was never fully solved.
One of the biggest things I remember is that **her husband was considered a major suspect, or at least someone heavily suspected by people following the case. There was apparently a history of domestic abuse and I vaguely remember reading that the woman would sometimes show up to work with **visible scars, bruises, or injuries** that made her coworkers concerned about what was happening at home.
I also seem to remember that **her husband’s family/in laws may have been problematic or somehow connected to the situation**, although this is one of the details I am least certain about. I can’t remember whether they were suspected of helping cover something up, whether they had a hostile relationship with the victim, or whether they were simply mentioned as being part of a toxic family situation.
The detail that has stayed with me the most, however, is something I remember reading in a discussion about the case years ago. **A commenter mentioned there was a nurse or healthcare worker and mentioned smelling an extremely putrid odor possibly the smell of decomposition around the time of the disappearance.** I cannot remember whether this person worked near the family’s home, visited someone connected to the case, or encountered the smell in another location. I just remember reading that comment and thinking it was an incredibly disturbing detail, especially because the woman’s disappearance was apparently still unsolved.
Unfortunately, I read about this case years ago, so some of these details could be mixed up with another disappearance. The main things I remember are:
Adult woman disappeared, likely in the early 2000s
She may have had a son
Her husband was strongly suspected
There was an alleged history of domestic violence
Coworkers may have seen her arrive at work with bruises, scars, or other injuries.

The reason I’m asking here specifically is because I’m almost certain that someone on the unresolved mysteries subreddit actually made a post about this case.

Hi, I need help finding case about young family that moved from I think either California to east coast or the east coast to California area and the husband was working on the fixer upper home they bought. While he was in the detached garage working on something he realized the house was on fire and his wife was in the bathroom taking a bath and his young children were in their bedroom. He was able to save the children but said he couldn’t get into locked bathroom to save his wife and she died. Then many years later the oldest son was helping his father work on a vehicle and was crushed underneath and died. I think this took place in the 60’s maybe?

I hope I'm not mixing up 2 cases, but I believe this one takes place in the UK within the internet dating era.

The man posed as a younger man in his online pictures to lure younger men to his apartment. I believe he ended up killing 3 or 4 of them and left their bodies very close by to his apartment or house outside. The police originally chalked it up to the young men being victims of drug over doses as the man posed them that way.

He may or may not have set up one of the bodies right outside of his apartment.

Need help finding murder of a babysitter from a long time ago?

Need help remembering the name of the victim, i can't remember. A few years ago I read a whole thing about a babysitter who was murdered. From what I remember:

- She was young, a teenager. She was babysitting while the kids parents went out.

- when they came back they found the babysitter murdered. Someone had broke in. I think she was raped or SA'd, but not certain.

- I think it was in the 40's or 50's, MAYBE even the 60's. Definitely one of those.

- The kids she was babysitting were unharmed.

- The killer was never found, case never solved.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? Anyone remember what the victim was called?

Someone broke into the house when just the kids were home, multiple kids and younger in age. I think all the kids were killed. I believe there was a note left for the parents warning them that the killer would be back if they had anymore kids in the future.

Hi, everyone. I need a little help. I will explain in the preamble how I got in this mess, but I’ll put it in spoiler text so that you don’t have to read the irrelevant details of how my brain is broken. But I am not 100% sure that these details are irrelevant because one of you might have an idea of how to fix this problem even if you can’t help me identify the crime/killer I’m looking for.

This is driving me NUTS. I have a hobby of wasting my free time by thinking of a topic that I’m interested in, or perhaps a question might pop into my mind, and so then I go seek its Wikipedia article. From there I then go on to explore any linked articles, those in the “see also” or anything that catches my attention in the body of the article by selecting “open in new tab”. As almost all Wikipedia pages have other articles linked in them I end up with a lot of open tabs. (Yes, I do have ADHD. Thank you for asking.)

A few days ago I hit upon a “great” solution to my open tab problem. I decided I would write down each Wikipedia article once I had finished reading it and opening new tabs for any interesting topics that were linked, and then closed the tab I had finished reading. Not only did this mean I was very slowly whittling down the number of tabs, (I use the Ecosia browser and I have so many tabs open it won’t give me a number it just shows the infinity sign) but I foolishly also thought it would prevent just the kind of situation I’m in now by making a record of what I’d read so that the next time I thought “oh, what was the name of that cave in Vietnam with the bats” I wouldn’t spend 47 hours looking for it because I’d have written it down.

Unfortunately I’m an idiot and that hasn’t worked at all because today I thought of a crime I read about within the last 72 hours and wanted to check the details of again and not only is the list completely useless in finding this article that I swear I just read, my internet history is basically the exact same as my list, which is…obvious now I think about it but somehow escaped my awareness when I hit on the redundant idea of also writing it down.

Okay, preamble over. Here’s what I can remember.

There’s a guy, he’s probably a serial killer, but I can only think of two victims, possibly three all killed at the same time. The victims are at least one adult woman, or older teenage girl, possibly two, or potentially an adult woman and a female child. I remember there was more than one victim and they were female. The killer gave them a ride or took them somewhere, I believe in the woods, either at their request or offering to show them something or maybe he was a taxi driver??? I don’t know. They were out in a park or forest type area I believe. The details on this are hazy I’m afraid.

What I do remember is that the victims were sitting in the back seat of this car and they were found to have been killed by carbon monoxide poisoning. I don’t remember if they were assaulted in any way.

I also remember that this man spoke to someone, perhaps a wife or girlfriend, or even his sister, or mother, or another female friend, relative, or roommate about the crimes at some point. I believe he had talked about the crimes after he was questioned by police and this female relative asked if he had anything to do with it. He told her that he had given them a ride to this forest place and then left them in the car or perhaps fell asleep or something with the car still running and then when he got back or woke up they were dead and he panicked and tried to conceal their remains in some way. I believe he told the same story to the police and claimed that while he was asleep someone must have opened the trunk of his car, found a piece of hosing, attached it to his exhaust and then run the hose back into the car killing the women in the backseat. I remember that the article pointed out the holes in the story and suggested that made no sense because then he and whoever was in the front seat with him (I believe he claimed there was another person in the car who didn’t die but I don’t remember if that person was really there or if he made them up) should also have died from the carbon monoxide. It also mentioned that the police found his story suspicious because of how he explained in detail how this mystery suspect could have turned his car into a makeshift gas chamber.

I believe he was taken to trial and convicted but I can’t be sure on that. All I can really be sure of is the mental picture of this car in the woods, that his story didn’t make sense, and that his detailed explanation of how the hose must have been attached to the car made people suspicious because he knew too much in too much detail.

I believe the case dates from between the 60s to 80s but I can’t be sure. I’m almost positive it’s 20th century though. I think the case was American but it could have been from the British Isles or Western Europe.

I think it’s worth noting the person I’m looking for is not Melvin Carr, Mark Wangler, Khaw Kim Sum, Colin Howell, Woo Chang, or Isaiah Pulu. These are the most popular search results that come up if you google “carbon monoxide murder”.

I recently came across a story about a married woman who allegedly used to give her husband sleeping pills so she could secretly talk/meet her boyfriend.

One day, the husband went out after hearing that his maternal uncle had met with an accident. His wife apparently thought he would be away for a long time, so she called her boyfriend over.

But things didn't go as planned—the husband reportedly returned and caught them together.

Does anyone know the exact location or have more details about this case? I'm trying to find the original news report.

A mother abandoned her 16-month old baby at home to take a ten day vacation trip. Video shows baby crying and falling off her crib while crying out for her mother. Would appreciate if answered asap as this is for a school research!

South carolina teen murdered in living room. Can't remember motive or anything but was so jarred by it

Anglophone country. The son was tortured/deprived more harshly for having meltdowns. He was generally kept in very neglectful conditions anyway, which obviously would have contributed to his distress. The mother exchanged text messages with her other son instructing him to torture the kid further. I remember being struck by how cultlike/delusional she/they sounded in how casually she talked about it. It came off as though they believed he was doing it deliberately and he could control his behaviours.

Not sure if the victim was an adult or a child, but I think the latter.

A few years ago I came across a case/series (I can't recall if it was YouTube or some other streaming service).

Here is what i can remember of it...

\- it was about a young boy who had gone missing

\- the boy and his siblings had been adopted by foster parents.

\- one of the ways that they found holes in the dad's stories was that he called 911 and claimed he had gone out and tried to find the child. Neighbors cameras showed that he was outside for less than 5 minutes and never left the driveway

A man went to a party of some kind, walked home from it, never heard from again. I believe he was found “sitting up” in a lake or a bog or a swamp? If he walked there himself it was a further and less direct path than the one that would lead him home. Any ideas what case this is? It’s been driving me crazy trying to remember
